The Census has sent around 3 different workers to count me and my family.

We have turned all three away without them successfully counting us. We told them that we wouldn't be participating in the census. None of the three seemed to have a better argument than, 'they told us it's the law', for why we should participate.

While all of these people had official looking government documents, none of them had a copy of the constitution with them to present thier case.

After we turned them away we witnessed them going around to our neighbors to ask about our race, how many are living under our roof and how many months of the year we seem to be living here.

I'm not sure if any of my neighbors turned us in or not.

Same experience here.

Do you think some counties or states are double dipping their numbers to get more money?

I sure hope so, and I hope it's not the counties that you people live in. Congratulations you don't tell the census how many people are under your roof; you're not standing for anything in my mind. They've been doing the census in one way or another since the 1600's. Get over yourselves.

Counties, referring to certain designated areas in a state....look it up.
The money is distributed based on the areas population. If they count my house three times...

I dont understand whats so wrong about the census, its not like they're really indepth questions. Its basic questions how many in the house, age, race, sex. Its basic info you give away just by walking outside with your family. Im sorry but I just don't see the conspiracy in a country wanting to know how many people reside in its borders. I'm sure someone will point some crazy theory out about population control though

This may come as a shock to you but there are more laws than just the constitution that you, as a citizen of the United States, must abide by.

We, as a society and individuals, cannot pick and choose which laws we follow and adhere to. Otherwise every generation would be required to draft a new constitution in accordance with the popular beliefs at the time.

Not participating in the census because some questions aren't specifically stated in the constituion is akin to disobeying traffic laws because they're not specifically stated in the constitution.

In Article 1, Section 2, the Constitution includes the phrase:
[An] Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.

And the law governing the US census:

www.law.cornell.edu...

Seems pretty cut and dry, and what they ask is stuff that the average person could probably find out about you doing a Google search. Refusing to take the census is hardly any type of heroic stand against the government. Everything that is going on in the world and this is what some people choose to get their panties in a bunch over?

Heres what I told the same lady three times....

Lady. Hi as you know i am with the USB and its that 10 year...

ME. I understand your trying to get a count on the number of people living in areas to help them get better funds and services.

Lady. Yes that and amongst other things...

Me. Well I am moving out of state and i find it unfair to credit this city for me and my family being here for the next ten years when in fact we are shortchanging the community that we are choosing to raise our family in.

Lady. Um....Oh...Well...

Me. So if you leave me your lil questionaire I will gladly fill it out when I arrive at my future place of residance.

I know its only the census but its the only time I get to bust their balls in the same fashion as they have busted mine over the past years so yes even tho its trivial I still get thorough satisfaction out of givin them sh!t when i can. To be fair, me and my family are movin out of state.

Waiting for lady to return after a consult with her boss. Scheduled return is for 5pm wednesday eve.

So you are getting back at America by giving # to a lady that I can almost assure you has had nothing to do with the current state of America. Makes total sense its like giving # to an Italian because of the Italian mob. Congrats sir!

Good job, star for you.

These paranoid freaks and hating the census. Something that the United States government is SUPPOSED to do, and these twerps have to try and fight it. Sorry y'all, it is in the constitution, it is the right of the government to know how many people live in this country.

:shk: It puzzles me to no end why people flip out over this. What they don't understand is that you want to be counted. The more people in your state the more representation you get in Washington.

But they think "government bad" so they give people that live in their community a hard time because they think that they are some government drone sent to implant them with a chip or something.

I remember about 10 years ago when the last census was being taken, a woman came to my house, showed me her identification, told me she was with the census, I politely answered her questions, once she was finished, she left, and I never saw her again. No unmarked white van came by to scoop me up and take me to a FEMA camp, no RFID chip was forcibly implanted in my arm. Instead of being bothered 3 different times like the OP, I was slightly inconvenienced once.

You know what the funniest thing I find about conservatives yapping off about the census or gun registration/permits? They complain day and day out about how 'unconstitutional' they are... or how much of an invasion of 'privacy' and 'freedom' these requirements are. But when it comes to stopping an 'out of place' hispanic/latino looking fella in the park for his 'papers', they absolutely have no issue with this. Its astounding... its hypocritical and revealing at the same time.

Haha your welcome, but atleast you are going to do your census. Other people do it just to spite America, if the census count is off by say a thousand people who are noble and just reject this census it wont matter the country goes on a thousand people or not...but this is me being honest atleast you have a reason right now not to do your census.

I wonder how they survey homeless people living on the street or other people living secluded in vast forest like ones in Alaska.

Its because you dont have your tin foil hat on ya know, even though it was wrote in the constitution to do this in the late 1700's. They easily foresaw this decade and an issue of population control...our forefathers had advanced knowledge of 2010 omg huge conspiracy! I just saved the world, to bad I filled my census out now I'll die

Nothing wrong with giving a head count, but the census has no need to know the social security number of myself, my wife, or my son. They have no need to know our household income for any reason.

I have no problem giving the number of people living there, but names and other personal info arent needed.

I dont recall the census asking for the social security number? But I kinda think they ask for the name because of its an issue of census fraud. Once they issued social security numbers a ton of people went missing because people would make up people and put it on the census
