ATS: Site Rank: 1,758? So what's the big deal? GLP is still ahead! And so are other more shoddy sites! Until ATS moves up within the first 100 bracket, I won't be impressed. So let's stop patting each other on the back. We've still got a long way to go. Are you happy at this result? Geeez! Let's face it. It's the first 100 or else ATS will continue to be in the 'also ran' category.

Frankly, ATS is to blame for this as many excellent posters have unfortunately been forced to migrate to other sites for various reasons. Why was this allowed to happen? Was it due to controversies or stuff they wrote that was contrary to the grain of ATS? Probably. And that's the reason it'll take an eternity to reach the top 100.

Have I kicked up a storm? Maybe, but we should have the courage to face the truth fair and square.

no, actually, they are far behind us on quantcast:
www.quantcast.com...

Alexa's ranking can be manipulated, which we won't do so we're behind a few lower trafficked sites there.

If you combine ats, bts and mats, we're actually at 1,500.

Not impressed?

we get more traffic than jcrew.com, hbo among others.

Well Good day Sir. Out of coffee today? Well, for MOST of us at ATS-we are proud/happy/elated-whatever you want to call it.

Guess were just as happy being sub-par-according to you. So be it. Thanks for gracing us....

As far as the posters leaving etc. I have no clue as to who you refer to. Could you please provide some names and/or additional info? I want to know what you are talking about.

You know, I want to stay in the grains of ATS etc

I'm glad that ATS is ranked so well! Maybe it will bring more traffic to the site and bring more members!

I am not a big internet useage person/follower but I couldn't help but notice the pic above when I was moving around the ATS pages.

What struck me though was that it was just like 2250 about 2 months ago. That seems like a huge jump to me.

Regardless, I think it is great for the Members, Staf and vistors. Keep up whatever you all are doing as it seems to be working!!!

I demand a recount.Somebody screwed up. Must've miscounted Florida.
ATS should be top ten.

Bah. No one is forced to migrate to other sites unless they're repeated and flagrant violators of the Terms and Conditions. We're hardly controversy averse. For every member "forced to migrate", there are exponentially more who are glad to remain and read or contribute due to our (attempted) diligent enforcement of some basic requirements of courtesy and non-jerkiness. Don't attack other members, stay on-topic, don't spam, don't plagiarize, be courteous, and for the most part you're golden. Not that tough for most, and the overwhelming majority of members comply with ease.

We're different for sure, and we not only aren't for everyone, there's no attempt to be. Sometimes there's addition by subtraction.

Actually, that's not correct. Their rank is 4,216.

It's the first 100 or else ATS will continue to be in the 'also ran' category.

The number (1,758) can be interpreted many ways...
We're ranked in the top-2,000 most-popular websites...
We're in the top 0.007 percentile of all trackable websites...
We're ranked higher than the popular Internet LOLZ website, Cheezburger.com
We're ranked higher than a major international publisher, mcgraw-hill.com
We're ranked higher than a tech blog that has been in major news stories recently, engadget.com
We're ranked higher than a major international computer firm, ibm.com
We're ranked higher than a very popular true-crime site, thesmokinggun.com
We're catching up to a major auto manufacturer, ford.com

...many excellent posters have unfortunately been forced to migrate to other sites for various reasons. Why was this allowed to happen? Was it due to controversies or stuff they wrote that was contrary to the grain of ATS? Probably. And that's the reason it'll take an eternity to reach the top 100.

No one is ever banned for anything other than T&C violations, typically related to general civility. On occasion, someone might be banned for posting on a clearly banned subject (such as the advocacy of personal drug use, hacking, etc.), but I can guarantee you, on each occasion, the fault is theirs. However, given the growth, it would seem that "pruning the bad apples" is helping, not hurting.

The top-100 sites are typically those with 10 million or more monthly unique visitors. We do indeed have a long way to go before we may be considered to be part of that realm.

Thank you for the great info and reply. Just what the thread needed.

Is there any effective way we can display or highlight the Statisics tab into a more visable section of the page(s)?

I believe more folks would look at it. And even lurkers etc that may see it and think even more positively about ATS?

I didn't think you'd be drawn.

The combined site will certainly put the site nearer where it belongs in terms of rankings, though.

As long as it's before Dec 21 2012.

Thanks SO! But shouldn't we be included in the list of Conspiracy websites only? Why should we be messing around with the likes of IBM, Ford and so on? They've got nothing to do with websites such as ATS. They're a different ball game altogether!

So isn't there some place where just the top Conspiracy websites are listed? It would be interesting to know where we stand in this list.

Here's one but ATS doesn't figure in this - at least not in the first several pages!! Let's face it. Anyone looking for the best conspiracy sites on the net will Google it and this is what pops into view...

conspiracy.top-site-list.com...

GLP at No 3????? LOL!!

No. Because that limits thinking.

ATS isn't "messing around" with Ford, IBM, Engadget, etc... we're standing toe-to-toe, and in many cases, causing more people to look our way than theirs.

They're a different ball game altogether!

We're all in the same game, mindshare. Anyone or any site that puts content onto an HTML web page is suddenly in competition for some share of the overall number of minds online. Either intentionally or not, the competition for awareness spans the spectrum from Google to the most obscure blog getting a handful of visits a year.

The fact that our "share of mind" is in direct competition with major brands and media companies is a testament to the growing interest in what our members are saying.

So isn't there some place where just the top Conspiracy websites are listed? It would be interesting to know where we stand in this list.

Using the Quantcast numbers for "conspiracy sites," we're #1.
coasttocoastam.com - 2,686
prisonplanet.com - 3,092
infowars.com - 2,960
Run the numbers yourself.

conspiracy.top-site-list.com...

We've never been interested in easily manipulated ranking services. Such "top site" pages are easily influenced by fraudulent voting.

And that ranking service receives very low traffic -- top-site-list.com - 27,795 -- so not very many people are paying attention. We get more than 80,000 visitors a day from search engine users... that's more total traffic than "top-side-list.com" receives in one month.

No question you get the news here faster than anywhere. I don't know how many times I've seen a thread start up fresh here, then it shows up on the AP wire 20-30 minutes after.

Coincidence? I think not. ATS is now officially THE source for actual news, and apparently the guys that actually get paid to make the news have figured that out.

Sometimes the world is a pretty cool place.

By the way, I saw something about a "Drudge" tax on Drudge Report the other day. Maybe the folks at ATS could figure out a way to inflict a "tax" on all the other media who are stealing their news from here. Now that would be awesome.

i lost intenet (again) and missed a lot it seems. The Stats that S.O. put up are just awesome.

And awesome for ending the debate (IMO).

I think this thread should go to the front home page so more people see it and the numbers.

I didn't know there was other sites for alternative views. lol. Guess it doesn't matter 'cause I ain't going looking.

Actually... That's a proposed FTC legislation that would impose a fee on sites like Drudge (and maybe ATS) that make use of links to mainstream news sites. I doubt it would ever get beyond a proposal.
