A reporter asked what she thought about ISRAEL, not Jews. She said, "Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine". Nothing about Jews. Palestine is occupied and she suggested the invaders get out.

Helen Thomas... has been forced out because she said... what, exactly?

Well, explain yourself. If you think something she said is "blatant bigotry" let's hear why. I've explained myself. Let's hear how wanting an invading force to leave and "go home" is bigotry. I'm all ears.

However, regardless of what Helen Thomas thinks or says, it should be pointed out that it was the United Nations that established the state of Israel in the first place:
The resolution was approved by the general assembly, 33 votes in favor, 13 votes against, with 10 abstentions. The vote was as follows: voting for approval: Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Byelorussian soviet socialist republic, Canada, Costa Rica, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Dominican republic, Ecuador, France, Guatemala, Haiti, Iceland, library, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Sweden, Ukrainian soviet socialist republic, union of south Africa, union of soviet socialist republics, United States of America, Uruguay, Venezuela.
a point worth addressing, frankly.
The UN today is made up of 192 states. When the vote was held, it was 56. And of the 33 that voted for the creation of Israel, you'll note that none of them are actually located in the middle east. Every one is either European, or a colonial outpost, or a puppet state defendant on the USA.
Notably absent from the list, either for, against, or abstaining, is Palestine.
And that's the centre of this problem. That's why there has been a refusal to recognize Israel as legitimate for so long. The right to make this decision was extended to only, what.. 30% of the countries in the world, and the right to give themselves that right was given to them by... themselves.
Further clouding the issue is the fact that those 33 nations were also where the vast majority of Jews in the world lived at the time - a fact that's proven by the records of immigration to Israel, with the overwhelming majority coming from those states. And the people actually living there were never given the chance to vote.
If this vote were held today, it almost certainly would not pass - and not because of anti-semitic sentiment, but because confiscating a country to make a colony for people living elsewhere is an unthinkable misuse of power.
Understanding this is key to understanding why there is still, 60 odd years on, resistance to Israel, and why there will continue to be until the rights of Palestinians can be resolved to their satisfaction.
