I have absolutely no doubt that there are those who, in fact, DO want a war out of it. I've seen that sentiment here on ATS and elsewhere, for example.

Obviously the Iseali's didn't learn a thing from WW2 ,

What exactly were they supposed to learn?

Were they the aggressor?

Did they deserve the concentration camp?

Was it a lesson?

The Zionist state of Israel would be wise to take a softer approach with this Irish vessel, for i expect they know the strength of the Irish lobby in the USA. And the amount of citizens who claim Irish ancestry.

Brave and inspirational???? OMFG.. Our planet is doomed. I hope they charged that guys family for the clean up of his flat butt. Then make them clean the tank treds. If you feel strongly about something.... What good will you do for the cause after you are dead? Live to fight another day.. Laying down in front of heavy equipment = S-T-U-P-I-D

Being irish myself , I'm kinda nervous to see what happens to these people. I don't think it's wise to test Israel's patience after the other incident. It'll be interesting to see how things play out. Hopefully there won't be another international incident.

ok that makes sense.

DONT stand in front of a bulldozer because,

1) Because it's plain stupidity

2) Because of the above it's ok to run over the VICTIM

the only reason for that is the darfur is a deserted backwater with no value at all. where as the palestinian problem involves thee flash point of the world.. jerusalem.. therefore of course it will garner far more attention because it indirectly involves 2 billion people+

Ever watch a pallywood video, I watched one for the first time yesterday, I had no idea this was done,

What peaked my interest was the fact there were camera crews on that ship from Al Jezzera,

It all reeks of a set up, a propaganda set up, and Israel fell for it.

The Irish ship Rachel Corrie is delaying its voyage so it can be equipped with video capabilities and satellite transmission equipment.

Article

Quote from the article "Adam Shapiro, Free Gaza board member, said the additions to the ship are being made for safety purposes.

Shapiro said Israel has made it clear it would intercept the ship and he hopes recording technology on the ship will make a difference in the behavior of any soldiers who board the vessel.

"Israel will be sensitive to the fact that we'll be recording what's happening and streaming it live," said Shapiro, who didn't identify where the Rachel Corrie is docking. He said it will head toward Gaza within the week.
"

Here is another quote "An Israeli government official, who spoke on background because of the diplomatic sensitivity of the issue, told CNN the government is offering to receive the ship's cargo, as it has offered other vessels, if it docks at Ashdod port."

So the cargo can be delivered if they dock where the Israeli's specify.

Quote from this article.

Israeli military officials released a statement responding to the refusal: "Unfortunately, the Hamas terror organization is unwilling to accept the cargo and the trucks filled with humanitarian aid have not been allowed to enter the Gaza Strip. It appears that Hamas is in fact stopping the transfer of the humanitarian aid."

Anticipating Israelis reaction doesn't necessarily mean "set up".
Knowing someone's habits doesn't make you responsible for his actions.
You are spinning.

So with that logic..... People should be able to just stand in front of progess?? They should be able to just stop anything by standing in front of it.. Go stand on a train track and see if the train stops.. BTW.. The story is.. the driver could not see her.. I can not imagine he ran her over on purpose.. but if he did.. both are equally at fault!

I'm betting that this Irish ship has more cameras per square foot than the previous flotilla, and now that the eyes of the world are fixed on what Israel will do next the Israeli forces will be very diplomatic and clear on what's going on...

Any boarding will be done by the book, and with that "butter wouldn't melt in our mouths" approach.

Heres an update of the progress of the Rachel Corrie

[url=http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2010/0603/[/url]

Former UN official Denis Halliday who is onboard and currently in Libyan waters said : “We want to emphasise that our aim is not provocation but getting our aid cargo into Gaza” "We are calling on the UN to inspect the cargo and escort us into Gaza, he said, adding “we all remain in good spirits”.

They are bringing medical supplies and construction equipment some of which is banned, so they know if the ship were to dock in Ashdod for Israeli inspection then none of these types of supplies would get to reach Gaza.

I think the UN should agree to inspect the ship on behalf of the Israelis so then they could be assured that the ship is not full of weapons

Ok standing in front of a train... Yes stupidity, but stand in front of a bulldozer trying to protect what you think is right.. then i say no!

If she had no right to be there then yes she should have been removed( not bulldozed) and standing in front of a train ha ha, we all know what the outcome of that would be and im sure rachel corrie did not have a death wish.. she was trying to exercise her right and tyrying to help others.

If you are going to tell me in doing so she had a % chance of dying then this world if #e

I would say murdering innocent civilians is 'creating an incident', and that already happened.

Innocent civilians? It's actually frightening watching people like you buy into the BS shoveled by the MSM.

And this is how you can tell a paid damage control shill.

The BS shoveled by the MSM? The american MSM is clearly pro-israel. Either the conservative FOX or "liberal" CNN, both sides have blatantly shown to be pro israel and anti flotilla.

You can see the tactic here is trying to make Israel appear as though everyone is against her, and everyone is just an anti-semite, even though the US "response" to a NATO ally being attacked has been weak, and the excuse given is our "special" relationship with israel.

Quite honestly, Israel has to reassess their policies. If their policies are causing people to confront them because they feel that their policies are hurting people, they need to look at what it is they are doing and how they're doing it. The situation in Gaza is complex but it is not impossible to deal with.

Large groups of people believe wholeheartedly that Israel's policies are causing the needless suffering of too many. They take it upon themselves to circumvent the normal system and decide to relieve their fellow human beings suffering because they believe the situation is that dire. We must believe at this point that they are sincere and that there is no political motivation.

So Israel should take this as a purely humanitarian effort and recognize that it is human nature to help the people who need it. They should not send armed commando's out to confront the vessels. They should send inspectors that are not armed. They should make their intentions clear before boarding the vessels and tell them that no harm will come to anyone. They should explain to the vessels that they have to make sure of their own citizens safety and in this way present themselves as a humanitarian effort as well and that they share a common interest in helping their fellow human being.

Now we get down to what is allowed and not allowed according to Israel's policies. This is where they must re align their thinking. Some things that are not allowed are just silly to me. Israel should take the matter of Hamas firing rockets to the international community. Show the humanitarian organizations why it has blockaded the area and be transparent about it. Let the humanitarian organizations work on a solution as well.

This isn't about getting rid of Israel, it's about realizing that we are all human beings and we need each other. I believe that need is beginning to show itself more and more and this need is being confused with anger and bitterness and it's being morphed into murder and hatred. We cannot let that happen. We will need each other ever more strongly in the days to come and division will only hasten our demise.

I hope they get there safely. The Irish have a long history for helping third world countries through charity, missions and sending peacekeepers through the UN. I find it no wonder that they are now trying to help those living in terrible conditions in Gaza.

For those here that think no one works in the Sudan or other third world areas please read up on GOAL an Irish NGO that has worked in some of the poorest countries for years.

www.goal.ie...

Perhaps those disputing the integrity of the people on this ship could be less cynical about this being a publicity stunt and more about helping their fellow man.

go dté tú slán!

The guy didn't get ran over, the tanks stopped and he even chatted to the tank commander, he was eventually yanked away and never again seen by the secret police. Executed probably.

You can either call him stupid, as you would, or you can regard the man as a man of incredible bravery, somebody who had the balls to stand in front of a column of tanks because he felt it might make a difference. It did, the image became a 20th century icon of defiance, no doubt inspiring countless others throughout the world to stand up against injustice.

And for your information, standing in front of bulldozers DOES sometimes prevent families homes from being destroyed. Remember you are not up against a bulldozer, it is the guy who is driving it, Rachel was unlucky.

So can I just come smash your house and build mine over it, killing anyone in the process? I am Native American. My people were here before yours. It is rightfully ours. Isnt that Israels argument? That is not "progress", that is thievery.

You mean, that the boarding party won't be assaulted with iron bars or other weapons. ?

Or perhaps, the ship will just go to the port as directed and be allowed to unload their cargo and have it transported to the gaza strip.
