As far as Turkish foreign ministry's statements about "consequences" for Israel, I think that unless the Turks want to start a war against Israel, the probable steps could include calls for international condemnation and possibly suspension of diplomatic relations with Israel.

Not accusing YOU. Sorry you thought it that way- I meant THEM.

Honestly- I wonder if they haven't spun a whole lot more in their favor- to the point everyone on the planet's been fooled.

"How could the Israeli military attack civilians like this?" Ms Berlin said. "Do they think that because they can attack Palestinians indiscriminately they can attack anyone?
"We have two other boats. This is not going to stop us."

The other 2 boats are going according to the spokeswoman

Activists said at least two of the other boats, one Greek and one Turkish, had been boarded from Israeli naval vessels. Activists said two of the other boats in the flotilla were American-flagged.

Too all you people who think "Israel will pay" "action must be taken" etc. This isn't the first time and not the last time. Never has any effective action taken before and never will be.

Agreed. But keep in mind that never before in this recent past the world was in a situation like this economically. So it's hard to predict how this would roll if things escalate.

Europa is pretty much broken, US is in a bad shape, so you never know. I hope it doesn't but at the same time Israel should learn a thing or two on how to behave.

Well you're an ignorant Texan who automatically chooses a side before getting all the info. Also you have an ignorant neo-con bent that is single-handedly bringing this country down. It's better to foe you so I can dismiss your posts in the future as being nonsensical tripe that to waste my time reading your whimsical thoughts.

You do not know why Israel attacked and what provoked it and yet there were several calls only barely short of genocide against the Israeli people.

The Israel-hatred is so severe I would reckon its either the Mossad doing some reverse-psychology in here (thats right, Mossad posing as anti-Israel) or, what is more likely, your usual "liberal point of view" that automatically ascribes the victim-role to Palestinians no matter what the facts are.

For those people who just added me as their "Foe": What gives? Is dissent so with the predominant "opinion" here so troubling for you?

An Isreali spokeswoman on Sky News has just basically stated that the Flotila nd its crew were set up and pre-planned to attack the Isreali troops when they boarded because they had sharp tools/weapons. She has clearly stated that there is no humanitarian aid required in Gaza. She is also saying that they only intended on escorting them to shore until they were fired upon by the activists. She is also saying that the passengers are affiliated with Hamas?

Does anyone have any idea of whether any of this is true or not?

Is it lawful to defend yourself from pirates in International Waters? I think the Somali situation made this crystal clear. Israel is in deep, deep trouble.

I don't see ANY wiggle room in this one.

I'd be playing too and it's probably a small Caribbean nation.

Thanks.

Hey! Thanks for quoting me!

I'm not just referring to this latest debacle by Israel. I'm referring to a whole history of indefensible human rights violations by Israel against the people of Palestine.

There is NO difference between what the Nazi's did to the Jews in the ghetto's and what Israel are doing to the Palestinians now. None! It's a systematic culling of innocent people!

You may wish to turn a blind eye to these violations now... Hell.. you may even support them... and you may wish to judge me for standing up for the rights of innocent people. That's you're right to judge me... but history is going to judge those that supported such human rights abuses by Israel far more harshly!

Be ready to sleep in that bed you've made!

Again... Thank you for republishing my important quote from Page 1!

Reports from IDF forces on the scene are that it seems as if part of the participants onboard the ships were planning to lynch the forces.

Four naval commandos were injured, some from gunfire some from other weapons.

Many participants in the so-called humanitarian effort threw their IDs overboard to frustrate identification efforts.

At least one of the commandos injured by gunfire was shot with an IDF weapon as the violent activists on the vessel grabbed their weapons.

The operation is still ongoing, some 70-80 miles from out coast. Forces were met by formidable resistance, perhaps unprecedented. I can tell you what I already know with absolute certainty.

Commandos describe “a lynch” along with unexpected violence and hostility. One solder was stabbed in his abdomen. They did not act as “peace activists”. One soldier’s weapon was grabbed away and used against the force.

We did not encounter peace activists, but violent people with knives, pipes, batons and weapons. Our force was indeed in life-threatening danger. They had to open fire. Reports indicate 10 or so dead. Our force sustained injuries as well, one soldier in moderate condition.

As a person and the IDF spokesman, I express sorrow of the entire incident, but when soldiers face large knives, batons and weapons, they are compelled to defend themselves.

For simplicity's sake I have quoted all the point I know to be lies. I am sure one of the incidents many other witnesses will feel the same.

There was no resistance, unless you count men on bullhorns begging the shooting stop as "resistance". I watched this whole mess live, they were begging the IDF to stop and repeatedly warning of unarmed civilians in multiple languages..

The live video feed of the attack destroys this version of the story.

Is that why they panicked and ran in all directions while screaming for the violence to stop when the commandos hit the deck?

American and UK warships should escort the other ships, then we'll see if the Isrealis will attack the Flotila...

Only denying ignorance my friend.

This even went down on live TV with close to 11,000 witnesses to the attack. Kind of hard to argue this one away.

It doesn't matter who was on board of the ship. The IDF acted like pirates and the passengers are allowed to defend themselves by law. Don't go for the Israeli PR spin ...

There is no law that allows anybody to board a ship in International Waters.

Wow...
just wow...

Shark or anyone else watching the LiveStream at the time. Is this even remotely close to the reality of what you saw? Because this is the farthest thing from what I saw.

Mark Regev, Israeli spokesman spinning things on BBC right now, says the passengers initiated the fire fight.
He says Israel did everything possible to avoid confrontation and the passengers, as seen on the video, attacked the Israeli commandos. Spin, Spin and even more spin, with a side serving of BS!

When he said that if they'd folowed the Israeli instructions and gone to Ashdod, the aid would probably already be in Gaza! I cannot believe the stuff they come out with. When even the UN says what Israel lets in is only a fraction of what is needed, and essentials like building materials and medicine are blocked, what are they to do?

The spin machine will go into overdrive, our bought or coerced media and politicians will remain muted and Israel will act the victim. I just don't see it panning out any other way - sad but likely.
