Natural disaster, government takeover (NWO), War, 2012, Alien invasion, the coming of the Antichrist, disease epidemic....for whatever the reason.

I was just looking on you tube at some of the food storages some people have got going and am totally blown away by the size and effort that has gone into these projects.

Just wanted to know if any of you here on ATS have started making previsions for a disaster whether it be natural or man-made, deliberate or accidental. Perhaps you haven’t yet started, don’t intend to, or maybe you know someone who has.

This is great to raise the awareness level out there. But first things first, as they say. If you're in a big city, well, storing a bunch of food may not help so much. If it really hits the fan, as always, the cities are going to have problems.

Personally, I would say that depending upon where you live, your priorities will change. Do you live in a desert area? Water. Do you live in a big city? Have you ever even thought about your possible "escape" routes? You know, plan A, B, C...Don't count on the subways running! Hard winters? Well, you get the picture.

But at the risk of being controversial, I'm going to say that regardless of where you live, you better make sure you can DEFEND yourself and your loved ones. Because if things hit the fan, probably the worst thing you will deal with is PEOPLE, who want to take your stuff, who will possibly hurt you, kill you, before whatever else kills you.

If you don't like guns, then figure something else out, although there really isn't a substitute for a gun. Another way to put it, if the bad guys have a gun, and you have your trusty stick, you better be real lucky!

Again, great idea you have here, hope others will jump in, you never know the good that will come of just raising up the awareness level, good job.

Hi

You may want to change the spelling of 'previsions' to 'provisions' in the Thread title. 'Previsions' conjured the idea that the Thread might be about prophesy, remote viewing, psychic phenomena or somesuch!

I shall not be making any provisions for global disaster. Whatever may come, I shall roll with it and come what may.

I can't watch the videos right now but I am sure they are very educational. I have thought about stocking up on food and water, but not sure how much I would need. I think the biggest issue for a lot of people today is the investment. Just think of what the cost would be to have 6 months supply of food and water for a family of 4.

I agree with JR, I think the biggest thing for people in cities and even rural areas is protecting what they have. What good will it do anyone to have a years supply of food just to have it taken away by someone who is armed.

Storage of water is a big problem because it takes up a lot of space. A solar panel and a air to water system which takes water straight out of the air might be a good idea.

You have got to love caned food though, personally I don't eat much caned food products so to make a large store of caned goods would require effort!

Did everyone here see the movie "The Road"

I think the movie posed some interesting yet philosophical questions. How far would you go to protect what you had? Would you be willing to let children (anyone's children) starve knowing that you had food?

But then again, I don't see why a disaster of such a magnitude that would cause massive food shortages would change the way people act. We have starving kids today all over the world and people still hoard or throw away perfectly good food.

the best food for storage is hemp.

one can live on nothing but hemp, it has everything the human body needs nutritionally, and takes up very very little space(easy to hide from robbers...you wont need a whole room). perfect ratio of omega6 to omega3, and 20 amino acids(including the 9 essentials), highest protein content, and a whole/raw food(doesnt require cooking). i have hemp seeds, oil, and powder. the oil can double as a fuel source for a lamp.

25 pounds of hemp fits in one small bucket and will keep you alive for over a year assuming you have water (even if you ate nothing else). and vacuum sealed it will last 15 years and not lose its nutritional value.

the powder can make/replace breads or be eatin raw. the oil can replace any vegetable oil or be eatin raw(also medicinal, taken as supplement)

and the seeds can be eatin raw, cooked in something, or de-hulled and used for making hemp-milk.

year supply of hemp: $400

I think it's awesome you are thinking about this. Also the conspiracy forum posting is a great way to raise awareness. You might also want to check the survival forum: www.abovetopsecret.com...
Many folks over there, and on ATS in general will be glad to give you what advice we can if you ever want it, usually a u2u question works best if you have specific questions. But we help each other. That's one of my favorite things about being here.
Many of us do prepare and there is a lot of very solid advice in that section as well as many people who will answer your question or have answered it in their threads, which you can read anytime you have a chance. Always remember, back up any advice, here or youtube with your own research. Some ideas aren't as sound as others....
I will answer here, since you asked here. Yes, I prepare.
It's emergency preparing, and self-sufficiency at the core. (You don't have to be on a mountain top or survivalist compound to make your family a bit safer if a disaster hits.) It's the smart thing to do.

Yes, I have food, water, several methods for cooking, first aid, camping supplies, etc.. I started gathering items because I have to be ready for hurricanes in my area, including possible evacuation, but the way things are going in the world today, why not add a little more?

I have a bugout bag ready to go with hygiene items, change of clothes, tools, a mess kit, maps, cash, fire starters, military can openers, important papers, solar chargers, etc. in case I have to evacuate. I have boxes of food already made up that I can grab and go with.

I'd say that I have about 3 months worth of food, including dog and cat food, in my house. Outside I have a garden, chickens, and a seemingly unending supply of ducks.

Next, I am going to learn how to can my veggies.

I also test all of the things I buy to see how and if they work. Some of this survival stuff isn't as easy as it sounds.

Maybe this sounds crazy and maybe I'll never need most of my supplies, but what if I do? Better to be prepared than desperate.

I haven't started making any provisions yet but obviously the thought has now entered my mind. I live in the city so if I got any wiff of things turning bad I would want to get out of the city, I think its best to getaway from others!

Ideally I would be able to make it to my dads home in Ireland, his home is at the bottom of a mountain and there is fresh water there (mountain spring)

Chances are they would start closing down transport routes to prevent people from moving in mass, also traffic would be serious.

I like the idea of the Hemp, tastes horrid though! I once tried it as an alternative to whey protein powder to make shakes after the gym. I had to add honey for taste.

I do think a protein food would be good, peanuts are also high in protein but susceptible to fungus and don't last long.

If I could afford I would have a house in the country but maybe 10 miles from the city so it would be acessible. I would have an underground shelter that would be designated for diasters. It would be 100% underground and hidden to where only I knew where it was exactly. It would be hidden by a hill, trees and/or rocks. No one would think that there was anything there.
I would store canned goods, water, batteries, flashlights, first aid kit, candles, matches, clothes and all sorts of things that I would need to live a life.
I have often thought of survival but too poor to really stock up or prepare too much. I do have extra emgernecy food that I never eat. It consisits of ramen noodles, a dozen canned goods and 12 bottles of water. That would not last too long.
If I had more money well that would be a different story.

I dont intend to take any provisions any time soon, if it comes to a point were we are told directly that war/plague is about to kick off then i'll make the effort and spend the money needed to help secure my safety, but until that time comes i wont be blowing any cash just yet.

thats my feeling as well,it could happen tomorrow it could happen in 4,5,6 years time so unless we get some kind of warning before hand i won't be storing food or thinking about where to stay.
i'm not worried about 2012,for some reason when i think of the whole thing i don't feel fear

I was thinking about how people would flee the city on mass if something went down. Some major roads could be damaged and closed off making travel very difficult. There would be serious traffic everywhere, cars would be useless. I was thinking how handy an off road dirt bike could be in such a situation ;-)

I have a place all picked out for my SHTF scenario. It has a cornucopia of foodstuffs, called nature. The only thing I really have stocked is water and heat source.

The bugout bags are packed and ready to go. 3 month supply of food at current place at all times. Now, the problem is, in one month I have to get into my supply unless a job comes along. This SHTF better happen pretty soon or I am just going to have to go to the cabin before the fan starts flinging.
