What does this mean? Who's "government"??

I think nothing will be revealed in advance by your government.

The US? Europe? Australia? China? Russia? (pick a country...)...Japan??

You DO realize that no one "government" has a monopoly on astronomy, right???

Not to mention THOUSANDS of amateur astronomers with backyard telescopes...AND professional astronomers who work in observatories all over the world, who are NOT affiliated with any "government"...sheesh!

In one sentence you say "it is getting brighter" in the next you say
"it is no brighter".

You're talking about a change in brightness over the course of years from one apparition to the next. I'm talking about a normal and predictable change in brightness over the course of a single apparition.

Is this where Mercury or Venus should be at the moment?

It almost looks like Venus is giving off coronal mass ejections in a video that is on youtube but I suppose that is just because it is passing so close to the sun?
(I don't know how to post video here, sorry)

Even in that picture it kind of does? No?

Of course, they had to circle it off center to cover the edges and fuel the conspiracy.Ha!

Here's the video link. Now before anyone starts attacking me for the content of this man's video, I am only using it for the fact that it contains the video of the object in question. Nothing else that he says do I agree with.

Bright objects entering or leaving the heliospheric imager (hereon refered to as HI) produce oval lens flares. Here's an earlier example:

stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov...
Now if you're talking about the verticle CCD blooming, again that's just a function of having a very bright object in a NABG (non anti-blooming gate) CCD.

Heh, just noticed the first comment by none other than the liar Jcattera. He still spreads lies and people continue to fall for it, amazing. Venus IS orbiting the sun counter-clockwise in the video. When you understand how the inner planets appear to move in the sky you understand they can appear to move in either a right to left or left to right direction depending on whether the planet is approaching or departing an inferior or superior conjuction. And as I said above, Venus is not emitting a CME.

This:
stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov...
Is no different from this:
stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov...
It's just a lens flare caused by the planet being that bright and that close to the edge of the view. I can predict it will do the same thing in the opposite direction as it leaves the field in a couple days, as it has in the past:

Cosmic ray streak, happens literally all the time in these images. Here's an example of an image flooded with them:
sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov...
Is this thread going to just degenerate into making wild claims about every cosmic ray hit and lens flare that comes through SOHO or STEREO?

Cosmic ray?

Behave will ya that aint no ray, unbelievable
Try downloading the image turning the monitor on then tell me thats a cosmic ray
Its a 3D object that looks solid

Argument from incredulity = logical fallacy

There's no need to insult me and no you cannot determine 3D shape from a single 2D image. It doesn't even look 3D to me, but it doesn't really matter either way because it is a well documented phenomenon:

Thank you for your prompt reply to my question. I take it because you saw jcatlin's(or whatever his name is) comment, that you were able to access the video in question?

Again, thanks.
So, this is Venus. Ah..good. I feel better.

"solid"???

It's an artifact in the image, nothing else.

This is beyond ridiculous...uber-ridiculous should be a word to describe it...

(You see, THIS is what happens when people who do not have a frelling clue try to interpret something from science!)

But, of course....NASA is too stoooopid to notice that the big, bad "alien spaceship" was captured in teh SOHO image, and they made it public JUST SO some "experts" on the internet could find it...yeah. Anyone else not buyin' it??

OH...and this "craft"....HOW BIG do you suppose it "is"??

...people, this is reality, not a science fiction space opera movie...

:shk: Ignorance burns, sometimes....ouch!

You're seeing things that aren't there to suit your own agenda. There's nothing that looks remotely 3D or solid in that image.

No problem. I've seen this video come up on other forums today. People on youtube tend to go crazy whenever Venus transits through HI1. It's happened before, it'll happen again.

I don't think anyone was saying this object was a giant alien spaceship.
A giant Red Dwarf star, with the planet Nibiru orbiting it, was the theory put forth I believe. I guess that could make it, "Nemesis" too?
If you're going to make fun of someone, I think you should, at least, be sure you are making fun of them for the correct reasons.
