"Times like this I wish I practiced voodoo. Whomever let her go deserves a doozie of a curse."

While I don't believe in it, or the motivations behind it, she IS in Georgia. I imagine African American students will also feel edged out & resentful. Voudon is practiced somewhat widely there and Mexicans (who often practice Santa Ria themselves) are generally very superstitious.

I really dislike the Southern Poverty Law Center more than I can express. What a piece of work!

Excuse me but my niece is extremely bright, she had been included in the gifted students program since 2nd grade. She was a dedicated student who got an award for never, not even once, being out of school in her entire school career. She did not just sit in class and bear the day, she was hungry to learn, and learn she did. Her essay was wonderful. She had support from her teachers and mentors, but it did not happen. No funding was sent her way to allow her into KSU.

You made an assumption here, and an insulting one at that. I am not trying to insult the subject of this thread's intelligence, I am distraught with the method she took to arrive at this point. Illegally.

Civil Rights issue? Heck, this woman is on her way to the White House.

She is so close to graduating too, and just this close [tiny pinch] to getting her CT SSN.

It would be easy to simply state that she was only trying to better herself, but that would only be true if she had made the steps to become legal. It would be easy to say that she deserves this education, because she does, but legally obtained. I am sure it will be easy for many to say let her finish, let her go free, but that is forgeting the laws that protect and make fair the benefits of those who are here legally. She can't even drive a car here legally, what is she planning to do about that? I don't see her landing a dream job from the bus line. Matter of fact had she not defrauded the system, she wouldn't have an education at all, but I bet she would have still driven that car.

Why is this news? It seems like the usual run-of-the-mill immigration violation. Personally, I see CNN doing a little bit of baiting on this one. It is as though the MSM media is encouraging the knee-jerk reactions by all those involved with this controversial issue. I will have none of it, and hopefully everyone else refrains from taking the hook, line, and sinker. Yes, this issue is controversial and action needs to be taken. However, a story like this seems to inciting people and fanning the flames of rage. That is is absolutely irresponsible. People act like this phenomenon is new. Sadly, it is not and it is probably more widespread than a college student attending a university in Georgia.

I am not going to lose any sleep over it, and everyone should not either. Things are what they are. No use itemizing your time with it, because the government does not give a hoot about the immigration issue. In fact, it seems the politicians are only aiding and abetting it by the perceived inaction on the issue. Some will say it is for political gain, and votes. I am beginning to think that may be the case?

The talk of the town is Arizona, but the state would never have had to draft that law if the Federal Government enforced their immigration laws along the Northern and Southern borders. Moreover, I still think that law was a means to coax the Federal Government to tackle the issue with the same vigor and attention that was given to Healthcare Reform. However, the plan seemed to have backfired, and now they have to follow through with the legislation. Still, the Federal Government is silent on the issue and inactive. When the head law enforcement officer, Attorney General, Eric Holder, has not even read the bill to offer any incite on the constitutionality of the legislation, something is definitely wrong. If memory serves, he said something like he is getting most of his information from the media about the Arizona law, and only glanced at the legislation. How convenient! It may be Constitutional or may be not? Still given his position, he needs to be aware and versed with laws being passed in the states, and comment about this law. My gut tells me, he is only stalling and buying time, because he does not want to go in front of the press to say the bill is Constitutional and legal. That would put him in a precarious situation with his boss, and we may see him walking out of the Justice Department with boxes in hand.

As with the case of this 21-year-old college student, and allegations of her residing in this country illegally for 11 years, and should I be outraged? I am going to wait and see what is discovered in court. Even an illegal alien is offered a hearing, but what strikes me is the fact that she lied to authorities about her address and personal information. That is the fact of the matter, and she needs to answer for it. Personally, the police were doing their jobs. She was not beaten or unlawfully detained, but cited on a routine traffic stop with no insurance and valid driver's license. Why the actions of the police are being vilified and scorned by the MSM is a conspiracy in itself? I reckon these type of stops happen all across the country which goes unreported. However, given the issue of the day being illegal immigration, the MSM media is going to sensationalize the issue as much as they can.

Still, I think this story is just another baiting tactic to smoke out the "so called," racists, militiamen, tea party people, and rednecks. Anyone who has legitimate gripes or concerns about government policies are unreasonably cropped into the above criteria, or at least that is how the MSM would like us to see it. Let see what happens when Ms. Cortl has her day in court.

In cases of Children I'd have to say it's not THEIR fault that their parents brought them here illegally... however this particular girl doesn't seem to have any sense of respect for the law.. no license, no insurance etc.. when she graduated, how did she expect to get a job if she couldn't even get a license? .. Buy someones identity?

See Rockpuck here is the problem,

America in no way what so ever has done anything but roll out the red carpet for illegals, it practically BEGS them to come.

Americans have done nothing to get the government to enforce immigration laws.

So now a Girl who was about to graduate with honors is going to get deported. All the hard work she has done to get an education and be of use to America is down the drain. America and it's people are disgusting, heartless, useless things that serve no purpose but to watch people burn for their mistakes.

You guys don't even care that all the funds are now truly going to be a waist of time. You would rather see a person suffer and all that money and hard work get flushed down the drain than to see this girl succeed.

And you even further slander the girl with the assumption that she would steel someone identity as if she was not a girl about to graduate with honors.

If they grow up as Americans, speak English fluently, get an education and follow the law, I've no problem letting them stay and be productive members of society. This girl just doesn't seem to have a conscience.

The girl is illegal, she has no ability to be concise. She was doing what she could to get to school and earn her degree.

Please you Americans have to do something about this, you have to build your wall and stop My people from going to your country only to have there lives ruined when your vicious and unholy evil country runs out of money and you swine start getting hungry enough to start picking Apples for money like your slaves that you now want to become used to.

There are definitely some wrong things about the American system, but to feel good when a girl gets her life ruined and throw out some cop out BS about her consistency, shows how tortured the American soul is.

And that's on the level bud.

Build your wall and stop exploiting my people, we have Mexico to exploit us we don't need another country doing the same......

Like we didn't know that's what you Mexicans thought of us anyways. So disgusting in fact that this girl was allowed to live in our country uninhibited with free medical care, education, scholarships, free lunch foods, social programs.. god .. we really are heartless.

And you even further slander the girl with the assumption that she would steel someone identity as if she was not a girl about to graduate with honors.

She's ILLEGAL! .. She has two options: Steal and identity. Or return to Mexico with the Degree America (those heartless bastards) gave her. You can't go to the immigration office and ask for citizenship, then slip in oh ya, I've been here illegally since I was 11.

The girl is illegal, she has no ability to be concise. She was doing what she could to get to school and earn her degree.

I'm sorry? Mexicans lack the ability to act with a conscience? I don't like your country, probably as much as you don't like mine, but I don't believe you guys are morally void.. this girl acted against the law on purpose: She deserves her punishment.

Please you Americans have to do something about this, you have to build your wall and stop My people from going to your country

Hey here's a tip for ya buddy: MAYBE .. Just maybe.. if your country wasn't such a god forsaken # hole, people wouldn't try at the risk of death to flee it. You have to wonder how bad a country is when her people cram 20 people into a van with no ventilation practically sitting on each other with no water on a drive through the desert that will leave half of them dead by the time they get out. They take that wonderful journey after spending their life savings to do it. Must be a real effing wonderful place. Perhaps you ought to watch your tongue next time you call your own peoples safe haven "evil" and "unholy" .. Your country is such a pos that people would rather die than remain there. No other country in the World experiences such an exodus, how embarrassing.

None of that which was given to the girl from your good heart. It was taken from your pocket your corrupt country against your will.

And what, again all the money all that free this and free that was for nothing.

The pursuit of happiness, that is what America is all about. Each and every person has the right to ONLY pursue their dreams but it's common place to take that dream and flush it down the toilet once you get close enough to it.

And this is what I think about America, Only me my poor dumb people don't know that your country and everything it stands for is from the deepest depths of darkness. They think you guys are the good guys.

Your very own president, the one you are sworn to protect is rumored to be in his position out of corruption against the basics of your laws. Do you honestly think this girl would ever need to steal a persons Identity?

You have no idea the fear Mexicans have of being thrown back to Mexico, the pressure that is put on them every day. How many illegal men join the military and die for your corporations in order to get papers, they face death for it and you make it sound like it would not scare the living crap out of a girl to walk into an immigration office and ask for papers.

I'm sorry? Mexicans lack the ability to act with a conscience? I don't like your country, probably as much as you don't like mine, but I don't believe you guys are morally void.. this girl acted against the law on purpose: She deserves her punishment.

That's because Mexico and it's people are not morally void. Look at what your country has done, LOKK AT IT!!!! Look at all the genocide, the war, the pillaging and plundering America has done in the name of goodness.

America is a corruption of the word good.

Evey other bad country knows they are bad, America is the only one who threatens the sanctity of the very word GOODNESS with it's hypocrisy.

And it's people live in total blindness to their own deeds of tyranny, even when that tyranny is turned against them.

In Mexico there is only one way to make it...

A person must lay a strong foundation in order to be his own king. It's toil and sweat and blood. It's life and life is hard. God is with Mexico and it's people, no matter how ugly and hard life might be down here God is with US because God never chooses a side it is only us who chose to leave his side.

Think what you wish about Mexico and it's probably all true, but this only shows how heartless you truly are for after all you are condemning her to be tossed right back into Mexico with out a strong foundation.

A punishment should always be proportionate to the crime

I agree 100% with what you wrote. This thread is shocking and so judgmental of a young woman, and not a single one of them even knows what the situtations. They want a free nation, but its a mad max, corporate heartless rule of laws, and judgments on everyone. In fact, seems to be resenting someone else's ability because it didn't happen to their niece.

Its sickening.

All I can say, is after this issue with the Mexicans has cropped up, I have been extremely saddened at the level of indoctrinated heartless, NWO ingrained in them; to the hilt, repsonses.

There is a different law than the ones the borders and legislators erect, the law of consequence, that has to do with heart, mind and soul. How much love and compassion and equality you want for every man, woman and child on this planet.

Sad thread.

I am a white, lower class American male. I scored high on the tests, but got no aid from FAFSA or any other source.

After scoring high during my only semester of college I have been forced to drop out and sit around the house because I cant afford school, and cant get a job.

It's not fair that I can't go to school as a legal, tax paying citizen, and this hitch gets to go for almost free.

I resent this person very much.

Is call beating the system, the other side of the American dream.

I wonder if she was using fake SS numbers or stolen, like I said in another thread is many ways to get fake IDs for the right price.

Still I am very interested to see how she went throughout the system all this years.

Anyway, she is been in the nation long enough to claim citizenship or at least start the process.

But I guess it was good the way she was living and not need to go legal

Just to clarify, I have no problem with living in a multi cultural society, matter of fact I love that about America. I have been around the south all of my life and have enjoyed the company of many a hispanic, some of my favorite childhood memories are of my best friends who came here (legally) from Mexico. I love people. But there has to be a line drawn. It is wrong that a person can come here illegally and break laws and take advantage of 'the system' to live off of, to benefit from, with no regard for this country's rules, and to top that off, call us unfair for trying to enforce those laws.

Just a week earlier, she'd been released from a deportation facility in Alabama after being stopped in March for a minor traffic violation

The sheriff's office said she gave a false address when stopped for that violation, a felony charge that her attorney denies

Born in Mexico but living in the United States since she was 11, she could not produce a driver's license, so she handed over as identification an expired passport from Mexico.

I guarantee you if I were stopped for driving without a license and no insurance people would not be looking to me and saying I was great and no problem for society, they would be calling the kettle black.

She was here knowingly illegally, she was driving knowingly illegally, held no insurance to cover her responsibilities in a crash, she is a criminal and should be held in that regard.

Illegal is illegal. It seems the reason why we can never stop this immigration issue is because our enforcement system doesn't give a damn about stopping, it. If we actually put our foot down and say
"Hey, you're here illegally so we're sending you back."

So WHAT if she was an honors student. Smart does not mean productive, or nice, or anything for that matter. It just means you're intelligent. It means you are SELF productive.

This girl needs to be sent back. Why? Because we need to show the illegals that if you're caught, you're going back no matter how much sweat and tears you put into being an illegal here.

What we're doing now is analogous to letting a criminal off free because he pu t SO MUCH EFFORT into robbing us and took the RISKS of trying to burglarize us.

In essence, this girl is robbing legal citizens of their rightful resources. Not only is this an immigration issue, it's nearly theft. Although we can't see things being stolen and taken away from us, we can sure as hell feel it.

For some reason i cannot pity this woman but deep in my heart i understand she is only manipulated by the mechanics of the corrupted world to think she is getting somewhere with a college degree. Money has destroyed not only our hearts but our love for one another as human beings. In a perfect world we wouldn't have to worry about color or race because we would not have a system corrupting our minds with stereotypes and propaganda from birth. We would not have our minds being subconsciously manipulated without words to make us feel and act accordingly to the massive amount of images we see in movies, and the massive amounts of garbage we are spoken to through mainstream music.

We have been divided to think that this person is lower than us because she is an "illegal" immigrant. Which in fact she is a human being regardless of ethnicity. We should not look to blame our brothers and sisters of the world because we were manipulated to react emotionally to a specific situation like this one. All this does is not only divide more people in this country, but divides us from another part of the world in which they are suffering just like us.

Maybe someone else other than i can understand that it's not really our fault or their fault but the people who manipulate us in the first place to come into these situations. Maybe we should think outside of the box we were pushed into as children into the conditioning program we call schooling and entertainment. Maybe then we would stop pointless debates and debate something that actually can be created into something and doesn't just become removed from thought within days.

I don't agree with either side on this situation. Either people wanting to immigrate or the people defending what they believe is right. Because both have valid points. What everyone should be mad about is how this WORLD is ran out of our control when we have the will to make it beautiful without being herded around like we don't have a goddamned right to live how we see fit. It's all about the ACTION of your WILL. Not just the thoughts of your mind.

Since I have been alive I don't remembering ever begging for anything especially for something illegal. As for US not doing anything to enforce seeing as we are the good guys on this issue lets say we were working on the honor system, which we know of honor among thieves.
So how can something without honor graduate with honors?
And yes I would throw all of that wasted money and time away, remember illegal is illegal. I want to say something bout born in sin but I hate religion. But as long as we all have our agendas and bend facts to suit our purposes, hey I’ll use their ammo in my guns.
Call me heartless and hateful and all those other bad guy words but I do have 3 kids in college and my wife just went back to further her education, all of them have been bumped from a class because of overfull classes. It makes me wonder if they were bumped for an illegal.
I am not a racist I just have no forgiveness for thieves.

I am from the old school. I was a child in the 1980s , My mom and dad are both real real white . I am 100% caucasian just so people know there is no such thing as a white man the term white man comes from a source of imagration from europe that flooded America hundreds of years ago from a group of peoples called Caucasian ..Anyways , To keep a huge story short, and I got to say the weather around America is a little unusaly wet the jet stream must have took some extra vitmanins . All I got to say is maybe earths climate is changing ...Back to my speech, sorry if I talk to long tho, my girl friend always tell me my mouth runs like a water tap , it never stops once its open ..hint hint . I talk to much , anyways ,,,

SO my famly is 100% white NO we are 100% Caucasians ..Anywho I do think that the 1980s is over , the 1990s was a change, But the most important part is this , even tho I am legal in America there just becouse people are not legal does not mean there not doing what is good , there here for a better life . Now Its not there problem the government never inforced there laws for hundreds of years on the borders like they should have built a wall in 1854 . Anyways to make a extreamly Long story as short as I can, maybe we can build a wall one day and then everyone could come here legal .

(visit the link for the full news article)

You get no props from me. Taken advantage of the system? The system is in place to invest in students that have the potential to do great things and will some day contribute to society. If she is getting ready to graduate with honors then she is an example of what this system has been created for, had she been able to take a legal path. In my opinion, this is much better than some "privileged" American going to college to party for a few semesters before they drop out. That would be an example of a bad investment.

We are not talking about someone looking for a free ride through life. This girl is actually going to do something one day and I believe we should let he finish school. We have already made 95% of the investment, let her finish up so she can become a productive member of society. They should give her a student visa and get her on track to become a citizen. Any other route would be letting your good ol hard earned dollars go to work for another country.

Unfortunately, this young girls life is now in the path of a political storm.
