An interesting point...we still see people keep high-tech armies entrenched with homemade weapons, etc.
Basically (much like rebels), we'd attempt to capture comparable gear, and use it against them...
And what of these weapons – if we could even get close to them? How would we recognize them, not to mention
use them? It would be bad enough
to see our loved ones, property and lands ravaged by weapons that defy any shielding or protection we can devise, never mind trying to work out how
they work so we can retaliate.
It is reassuring to assume that alien weaponry would be akin to our own, but what if it isn’t? What if its functions can only be accessed by it
recognizing “friendly” DNA? And what if that DNA is silicon based?
Their weaponry may well be the conscious manipulation of the energy - via a neural-net - that permeates the universe; unlimited in scope, and
untiring. How would we capture that?
Yes we’d be ruthless in our attempts to strike back, but, against an array of destructive devices that we simply had no way of operating, then our
stand would be a short and brutal one.
In that case, we can only hope they recognize our bravery and cut us some slack.
