So this is your administration on drugs. Any questions?

Obama drug plan ‘firmly opposes’ legalization as California vote looms
via The Hill

The Obama administration said Tuesday that it “firmly opposes” the legalization of any illicit drugs as California voters head to the polls to consider legalizing marijuana this fall.

The president and his drug czar re-emphasized their opposition to legalizing drugs in the first release of its National Drug Control Strategy this morning.

“Keeping drugs illegal reduces their availability and lessens willingness to use them,” the document, prepared by Drug Czar Gil Kerlikowske, says. “That is why this Administration firmly opposes the legalization of marijuana or any other illicit drug.”

Is anyone surprised? You shouldn’t be. After all, this is the same Gil Kerlikowske that has said repeatedly that legalization is not in his vocabulary, and publicly stated, “Marijuana is dangerous and has no medicinal benefit.” And this is the same administration that recently nominated Michele Leonhart to head the DEA — the same Michele Leonhart who overruled the DEA’s own administrative law judge in order to continue to block medical marijuana research, and publicly claimed that the rising death toll civilians attributable to the U.S./Mexican drug war “a signpost of the success” of U.S. prohibitionist policies.

Yet, given that national polls now indicate that an estimated one out of two Americans nationwide support legalization, and that a solid majority of west coast voters and Californians back regulating the retail production and distribution of pot like alcohol, it seems politically counterproductive for the administration to maintain such a ‘flat Earth’ policy. So what could possibly be their reasoning?

I thought this was interesting and will share. Quite interesting indeed!

Isn't that a bit like them saying that taking away our liberties will protect our freedom? I mean how many silly people actually fell for THAT one

They don't want to support legalizing Marijuana because it promotes open-mindedness (far too many free thinkers)

This one's too easy, and very expected.

Let's see...a wonder herb exists which has countless benefits to life and well being.

Big Pharma cannot compete-

Big Medicine is trying to grow, not shrink. They aren't happy with the PRE 'healthcare' figures which show that 1 of 6 dollars belongs to doctors. That was BEFORE the alien rammed it up our butts.

Big Liquor won't like it.

Obama's a puppet on a string and even he cannot dance fast enough.

Why doesn't he do something constructive, like allocate resources to fixing that little leak in the Gulf? This alone should have him impeached~if only he were president~that he runs like a bastard to steal our Constitution's meaning and life with his opening moves, and the ignores a catastrophe we have not even begun to hear from...

Yeah, I get it barry. Too bad you aren't the ones who decide. It's the states. Get it?

Now get on that oil slick, before you start hearing from names whose power matters.

The only problem is, we are too lazy in this country. We have let the government and big pharma control what is said about marijuana. If we can get the facts out there, then 50% will turn to 70%. I honestly figured that a president who did coc aine wouldn't mind legalizing hashish, but I guess the pharma lobbyists paid him too well.

I sincerely hope you don't smoke tobacco or drink alcohol, Only the persecution of people who use less harmful substances than alcohol/tobacco by such a person would be highly hypocritical to say the least.

It appears that "someone" is on a crusade against drugs fueled by whatever (eg religion, over-inflated ego, etc etc) and is hell-bent on getting us 'druggies' into as much trouble as possible in order to satisfy their own misguided ideals.

Riiiiight...has nothing to do with the crime outside my door, the 12 junkies who robbed my house 4 times, and the few dead or incarcerated friends I had who fell into such a horrid thing...must be religion, or something I did.

It's quite sad really, I feel sorry for people like that.

Don't waste time feeling sorry for me...

Spend your time thinking about how stupid it is to post your drug habits on a public site that is watched by authorities.

Or better yet...grow up.

Civil areas do not take kindly to "knuckle heads crowing on about pot use".

I mean seriously...are we 12 years old and in the high-school bathroom?

Never mind that I am warning you out of the kindness of my heart...

Kids today...they would wear a T-shirt that says "I rob, rape and deal dope" if they could buy them at the mall.

It is difficult to avoid drug use because everyone needs water, and those drugs that smilin bob and all his friends are pissing into the water aren't breaking down. Food is full of 'drugs' too. I'm pretty sure these are the dark ages, relative to the truth we know about this topic, and many others. At any rate it is highly unlikely that mask is clean and sober. He has to eat. He too needs water

Oh la la where to begin.

I have it on good authority that EM radiation weapons (mind control) is stopped dead in the tracks because of God's little gift. There are so many things that are conspiratorial about this farce. Great place to troll for foe finding, I reckon.

Another biggie here is our friend technology. The police (many of them) are practically having an orgasm thinking about squeezing the trigger on their hand held thermals, then shooting your dog, and NASA already has all the data they need to have a field day kicking doors down, stealing land. Remember, we are a (muslim) nation subject to 'rule of law'. Therefore we have another group of lobbyists to contend with on our road to truth: those who help put people behind bars, those who sell the gear to detect it.

President number 1 was wild about it. So were the founding Fathers. So is God.

History...just a long list of lies that need undoing....

God damn technology and man's bastardization of it. This is high stinking corruption. All the way to the stars. Right to the face of God.

It looks like a no win, because if california says yes, then gets dropped into the sea from an earthquake, there will be a million pat robertsons saying it's because they legalized it. Satan loves pat robertson. He can count on him to say the right things.

Let's not forget that the sellers will be out of business. They too would prefer it classified as a drug. As such they hold a nice monopoly on it's distribution, just like the drug lords do. This is something that could really cripple the mule. Was it not bad enough that they made this a 'you have to be sick' to have access to it scenario?

But isn't the conspiracy being discussed here is the discrimination of people who use a fairly safe substance (cannabis), While others using factually more harmful substances Alcohol/Tobacco face no penalties.

Law is supposed to be fair and just, and at this time when benefits from cannabis are being discovered, Then this makes even more of a mockery of the Laws imposed.
