Well, one thing is sure..."Dr. Judy" isn't trying to drum up a story to sell movie rights.

This has all been done before in "Contact". Astounding signals, searching for a primer. Very little about this story sounds original.

In fact, Judy Faltskog sounds like an initial-based pseudonym of Jody Foster, however inconsequential that may be...

I disagree, it would be highly original if it was proven true. So far it hasn't, and as for it now going confidential ??

a couple more things ive just thought of that i dont think have been covered in the thread.
im no expert in the things im going to mention so please feel free to correct me!

am i right in thinking that nasa is not involved in seti and hasn't been for a very very long time?.
history.nasa.gov... so then what is a supposed nasa scientist doing searching for signals because she clearly states that "no wonder nobody found anything because theyve been looking in the wrong place" meaning nobody was looking for signals in u.v as she claimed it was, and some of her other statements make out that she was involved in a programme to purposely look for signals.

if i remember correctly the stars she claimed the signal came from were the stars that wayne had asked her to look at, coincidence ????
would somebody be able to get a set of stars looked at on request from a big observatory?, i doubt it very much if it was nasa run as they would surely have a strict plan to stick to?.
maybe someone could book observatory time if it was privately funded but i would imagine they would have to pay and it would be expensive?
so in that case did wayne pay judy? or did she tell him she would get it done free?

in one of wayne and judys conversations wayne asked judy if she was absolutely sure it was real and nothing natural, she replied that she was and the signal was as unnatural as could be but as naturally intelligent as could be but then after she had allegedly gone missing for a week she then told wayne that there was nothing to it and they had done the preliminary investigations and it wasn't the real mccoy they had hoped!. but then days later is saying to wayne that the work has gone confidential due to investment and other things!

sioce wayne has talked to judy on the phone, has he even offered up any explanation for where judy has been or if shes even been missing at all?

surely if theyve been in contact for as long as claimed then wayne would know what observatory judy works at?

more and more questions arise every day with less and less answers !!!

thanks

I guess I'm left to think you haven't seen the movie...in which case--why are you responding?

It's very similar to this ongoing 'saga'...

Then, of course, there's a GOOD reason no one's looking for signals in UV with a radio telescope.

in one of wayne and judys conversations wayne asked judy if she was absolutely sure it was real and nothing natural, she replied that she was and the signal was as unnatural as could be but as naturally intelligent as could be but then after she had allegedly gone missing for a week she then told wayne that there was nothing to it and they had done the preliminary investigations and it wasn't the real mccoy they had hoped!. but then days later is saying to wayne that the work has gone confidential due to investment and other things!

She still hasn't explained how the signals were received, and of course, she can't, so it's an expected mix of "the dog ate my homework" wherein the mysterious MIBs get her research and "we're having to go underground to do xxx". With a handwave and some smoke to obscure the fact that the basic premise is caca.

surely if theyve been in contact for as long as claimed then wayne would know what observatory judy works at?

I guess one question was answered above by Wayne when he said that only Judy and Seth were sympathetic to his particular odd view of things. I think that answers why Wayne isn't closely looking Judy in the mouth, as it were, because he wants her to be the real thing. Which is, of course, also why he's helping lay down smoke and do the Morris dance with hankies and bells around the "UV on an RT" thing. He doesn't WANT to think about that one or her subsequent "oh, we used secret new techniques to allow us to receive UV on these RTs" comment. Because it eats into something he's got an emotional commitment to. So he's metaphorically sticking his fingers in his ears and going "la la la".

haha, i should have left this alone ages ago but im sick of these constant hoaxes, and the stupidity of all the people that just ignore facts, reality and logic and invent wild scenarios to defend it just because they want it to be true, and the fact that it seems to be stern believers that perpetuate most hoaxes for reasons unknown is just making me pick at every flaw i can find.

And it's over-and-out from me.
It's been fun.
See you at the next hoax.

(Unless of course we see Ms Judy again in the near future ...)

what?

On that afternoon Arthur Shuttlewood received a phone call from someone claiming to be from another planet (Aenstria), calling himself Karne.

Darned aliens must be technologically impaired, using a phone!

It's a shame Dr. Judy is still in the firing line,
I for one, still think that she may be busy talking
to the aliens.
She's probably racing back from Socorro towards
the VLA in her car with the top down, right now.

This below may help regarding this thread.

I always get a little confused among all this
'she-said, he-said' stuff... I suppose it's to do
with me slipping away to do my nails, but I
have a question.

If the Galactic Federation have stayed out of
the limelight by consorting with the Illuminati,
The Free Masons and The Military Complex,
how is it that NASA could first, stumble across
this UV signal and then, The 'Galactic Fed' allowed
this young lady to pass it out into the public via
the internet?

I suppose it's a good job that the world will bite
the big one in 2012.
This would make a good movie.

I have my wireless radio on while I'm bathing and baking
(I don't do both at the same time!) and
sometimes, I too pick up signals.

I know that occasionally, the lady next-door, who is
a Amateur radio buff receives signals from somewhere
usually around 7.00pm when her husband is just going
out bowling.

It must be annoying for her, because whoever it is, thinks
she's involved in maritime safety and always asks 'is the
coast is clear?'
But the middle-aged lady never gets upset with the male
stranger and I find that a little odd, due to we're nowhere
near the sea.
But I digress.

Great thread!

Haha, I agree about the technology. But its from Shuttlewood's book and really have never heard of him until this thread came up.

Lol. showing my age ,but in 1965 I was outside playing cowboys and Indians.

Who knows, maybe Mr. Shuttlewood didn't have the galactic cereal surprise ring decoder half of the transmitter. ( you know, the one that receives UV radio waves)

No, the stars Wayne wanted to look at are 3 different stars than the 'signal' stars, and are actually more likely, from an astrophysics standpoint, to harbor planets capable of supporting life as we know it.

What WAS curious is that the 'signal stars' matched, with only one exception, the 'wish list' Judy had previously formulated, and are far less likely to harbor any sort of life that we would recognize as such.

would somebody be able to get a set of stars looked at on request from a big observatory?

That depends entirely on one's 'connections', and how well one could convince the astronomer in charge that it was a worthwhile observation. For example, I could probably book some observation time at an observatory fairly local to me (optical, 1m mirror), but it would be subject to some tight scheduling, since that observatory is used by astronomers from 3 different colleges around here, for real astronomy. Could be months ahead from conception to actual observation.

i doubt it very much if it was nasa run as they would surely have a strict plan to stick to?.

Agreed. That would tighten the observation window considerably, if it could get booked at all.

maybe someone could book observatory time if it was privately funded but i would imagine they would have to pay and it would be expensive?
so in that case did wayne pay judy? or did she tell him she would get it done free?

It's usually more a matter of merit than money. Most 'privately funded' observatories belong to amateur astronomers, so the individual astronomer in question would have to be the one to negotiate that. However, with Judy claiming to be a 'NASA astronomer', Money would probably not enter into it, since NASA has far better facilities, why would she deal with amateur astronomers?

Sometimes, based on merit of a specific project, NASA will book time at one facility or another for some high caliber individuals with a solid investigation to perform. To be frank, I'm just not seeing that here.

This announcement doesn't state that she is a radio astronomer, only a link someone found on the internet says that someone with the same name is.

For all we know she could be in a ground-based relay-station for a deep-space telemetry probe.

Thank God I saw the post concerning the signals being picked up in "UV" on page 1. Saved me 61 pages on nonsense.

I've got nothing more than a marketing degree but that was too big of a screw up to ignore...

I think it's imperative to keep a very wary eye on stories such as this.

Both NASA and the SETI operation have a very specific protocol for releasing the news once the "extraterrestrial contact" balloon goes up. First of all, the signal has to be confirmed by practically every skywatching agency on Earth, which is going to take some time. The signal must be additionally confirmed by the various national defense networks — to make sure it's not one of our own signals from a covert operation.

Once confirmed through the proper channels, the information will then be released to the public, according to the protocol.

So, unless Judy Faltskog knows that the signal has already been confirmed through the proper channels, she should not be discussing it and we should not be hearing about this discovery.

That's one reason that I'm very skeptical about the story. We're not going to hear about it by way of a "leak" as Ms. Faltskog is leaking it.

Not inconsequential, actually. Some of the great hoaxsters of our time have used whimsical nom de plumes that were never questioned by the learned establishment.

Consider, for example, the 1991 hoax (featured in the Financial Times) regarding the discovery of the original words of Jesus Christ — essentially, a Gospel of Jesus — which threatened to stand both the theological and archaeological worlds on their heads.

It was, of course, a complete fraud that deceived some of the most esteemed researchers in the world.

The "discoverer" of this astounding find was a Dr. Batson D. Sealing. Any sharp-eyed and quick-witted skeptic would have recognized this name as a play on the words "Bats On The Ceiling" (which is an old expression for somebody who is nutty as a fruitcake).

Similarly, perhaps, we may warily consider the name Faltskog, which could be an allusion to false cognition. Or, when we reverse the name Faltskog, we get Gokstlaf — "Gots To Laugh," perhaps?

Not saying that Ms. Faltskog is a hoaxter; however, we must to remain ever vigilant with these folks making such astonishing claims, yes?
