But it would be good to see a comparison. M...MN are you ready to put on your hoaxers hat and give us some examples?

This just provides more support for a thread I made awhile back arguing that UFOlogy needs to start looking for evidence outside of film and photo. In the modern digital world it just becomes easier and easier to create realistic hoaxes, that even when a real case comes along the evidence will be dismissed as a hoax. It's time for UFO researchers to return to a more scientific approach instead of spending countless hours dissecting a photo only to find out that it's a fake.

Geez…..

There’s a few UFO iPhone apps out there…..

UFO Hunter ($2.99)

Doodle UFO ($0)

UFO Spot ($0)

UFO Sightings ($0)

UFO Prank Lite ($0)

UFO Camera Gold ($0.99)

So what do I do…..download them all…..

Would it be safe to assume to go for the free ones first?
Do you think that the mentality of the hoaxer would want to pay to hoax?

No offense meant to any hoaxers - really ...

Which is why I started the thread: "Aliens and UFOs vs. Reason, Logic, and Common Sense" but it hasn't drawn any thinkers so I requested that it be locked or removed. Your comments reflect the sad state of affairs on Aliens and UFOs forum.

These are only first generation UFO apps. In a little while, I'd imagine there will be some smarter ones around... but they have their limitations and we will find them every time.

As per normal, the critical thinkers and skeptics will do all the yeoman's work while the true believers spend majority of their time cleaning up the brains that keep spilling out of their heads.

The more things change, the more they stay the same!

OK.....

I've loaded the iPhone UFO apps.

I've loaded a better EXIF data app so I can more easily pull the data out & post it.

I've taken a few pic's (unfortunately I've not experienced an TR3B flyovers like Zaiger) & stuck some UFO's in them.

I'll post the original & edited pic's + EXIF data for each as soon as I've scanned for aliens again.

Geez.....what was that!.......

scanner.....ON!

OK…..

Here’s my 1st run at comparing the EXIF data pre – post the editing with the iPhone “UFO Gold” app.

Here’s the original pic:

Here’s the pic after I’ve inserted a UFO with the iPhone “UFO Gold” app.

The image appears quite degraded post the editing with the app.

Here’s a comparison table showing the difference in the EXIF data:

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/ff583e4c6981.jpg[/atsimg]

The EXIF file has been very significantly abbreviated post the editing, with a position field added that I think must refer to the insertion of the fake UFO.

Comments welcome.....

I will create another example to see if these sorts of pre - post processing variations remain consistent.

Kind regards

It's a shame that considering all of its uses the Iphone would even bother to have Apps like that? This subject is hard enough as it is with hoaxers, now the availability and use of Iphone + the app to fake UFOs is being granted seemingly with a magic wand by its developer.

I dont like that idea one bit, however I do applaud the community members here spending time to disect any potential future problems when it comes to identifying photographs made on the Iphone.

Superiorraw.....

It's always nice when you pop into the threads!

You know, it's not just us "UFO" guys & gals that have to worry about the iPhone apps.

This thread shows how the "ghost" guys & gals were conned by the iPhone ghost app:

Did you notice the EXIF data I just posted.....interesting.....
