Thank you for that! I guess gravity rules out the dark star theory, I think it's fair to say that we've conclusively eliminated 2 more possibilities, both the Brown and White dwarf stars. If and or when the time comes to cross the Jupiter/Mercury theory off the board what are we left with?....massive comet, perhaps multiple??

I suggested, with good reason, he change the thread title. The object has still not been verified to my, or many others, satisfaction so the thread hold's merit, for now. Simply taking out the speculative time period of a doomsday scenario was a sensible move being that several ATS posters find it difficult to maintain conversation without sniping comments. Perhaps now some who say 'it's Venus' or 'it's Mercury' will have to work at finding some irrefutable evidence instead of just attacking the OP for the title.

I've already stated my opinions in previous posts here. I am 100% sure that there is no foreign planetary body in our own solar system with moons/planets or whatever orbiting around it!

The implications would have already been seen and felt on a global scale if this were true.

hundreds upon hundreds of backyard astronomers would have picked this up by now.

Sorry, it's just not happening.

I'm sticking with 'mercury'.

If there is a rogue planet that is close enough to Earth so we could shoot it with a camera in the vastness of outer space then we should feel more special! Geez, that would be cool, as long as it does not take too long if it decides to destroy the Earth. In other words instant death to all humanity without us even knowing, that would truely be a gift from above. If you get my thinking. Either way while growing up I have been plague with too many ways the the Earth could be destroyed, either via outer-space or domestic and I just seem to be sick of it.

I saw a show growing up of a Nostodomous prophecy and blah blah blah a few survivers where let into a ship that looked like a blackhole and I grew up terrified that I would not be on that ship.

I was plagued by this thought and made me lose the love for life, that and other things but who could try to do good and have a "normal" life when such thought are flung in a kids thought process.

Of course there is bad stuff still going on in the world, how else would they cattle. Money is the only thing keeping us going and some don't have it. Pathetic that I could not just live and not wonder about death... Of course though I had to be herded cause, gee golly what else am I. Faith subdues the masses from the overhall and war is the fear that brings all the demons yet we act like we war to save the human race but instead we let it be crushed in time.

Either way we all care but the money and power/descision makers are the ones that rule, I have none but I do have wonder of more then the hatred that seems to be the surface of Earth... I prefer outer-space!!

The place where I am born in zero g... Cause geez, what would happen if a human is born in 0-g away from the pressure of Earth, that is gravity. etc etc....

In conclusion rumors kill gullibles like me as kids and you have all the power of stopping the destruction of young ones eyes.

Well none the less something is going on don't exactly know what it is but these reinforced underground bases or city's under denver airport are very suspicious at least to an educated person...and not these agents who continuously come here and demonize ppl for there beliefs no matter how far fetched

And a fine opinion it is. Except it doesn't hold up to scrutiny, since the transits show a left to right motion of Mercury from April 23rd-March 3rd. This is right to left. The field of view doesn't allow for it to be Venus, at least in the data taken directly from the STEREO page. But, I'm inclined to think that the positions are not at all accurate and that it most likely is Venus, as reported by NASA.

Common sense is all good, but it's no match for proof.

As far as I can see, Phage said that it was a planet, namely Mercury...and at odds with the statement in the e-mail reply to the OP from NASA. Phage is correct in saying Mercury and not Venus from the point of view of the object being a known planet. If it isn't Mercury, whatever it is, is now in a narrow elliptical orbit round the Sun.

Well, if it turns out to be Venus, then I can certainly admit that I thought it was Mercury, no problem at all.

I am no expert on Nasas 'Stereo' Satellites, and to be honest I find it confusing, however, I can safely say that it is not a foreign body such as a Brown dwarf.
