In the tech world, porn quietly leads the way

www.cnn.com

The announcement illustrates a widely acknowledged but seldom-spoken truth of the technology world: Whenever there's a new content platform, the adult-entertainment industry is one of the first to adopt it -- if they didn't help create it in the first place.

"It's not necessarily that the porn industry comes up with the ideas, but there's a huge difference in any technology between the idea and the successful application," said Jonathan Coopersmith, a professor at Texas A&M University who teaches the history of technology.

"They're kind of the shock troops, and one of the nice th

What else can I say, let's face it, sex is the world's greatest motivator, and so the greatest sin according to many religions.

Personally, I think this is a statement that covers all of history.

Sexually repressive societies leads to cultural stagnation, and inability to develop greater abilities.

Sexually open societie's rewards for all leads to far greater innovation and productive competition.

Yeah, like video games don't have strong porn undercurrents.

Well, the spaceshuttle was developed long before computers were able to deliver porn to the average joe, but having the right stuff usually meant being laid by the girls with all the right stuff.

Seems like good fishing to me.

When the geeks partied in Vega, the casinos all complained, while the strop joints and whorehouses prospered. Who do you thing the PTB prefer?

Personally, I think anyone who doesn't thing good love is better than money and material possession is whacked out.

the phrase "good love is better than money" made me laugh out loud, but sadly reminded me of this:

_A senior attorney at the SEC's Washington headquarters spent up to eight hours a day looking at and downloading pornography. When he ran out of hard drive space, he burned the files to CDs or DVDs, which he kept in boxes around his office. He agreed to resign, an earlier watchdog report said.

_An accountant was blocked more than 16,000 times in a month from visiting websites classified as "Sex" or "Pornography." Yet, he still managed to amass a collection of "very graphic" material on his hard drive by using Google images to bypass the SEC's internal filter, according to an earlier report from the inspector general. The accountant refused to testify in his defense and received a 14-day suspension.

_Seventeen of the employees were "at a senior level," earning salaries of up to $222,418.

_The number of cases jumped from two in 2007 to 16 in 2008. The cracks in the financial system emerged in mid-2007 and spread into full-blown panic by the fall of 2008.

Did Porn cause the Financial Crisis

SEC staffers watched porn as economy crashed

When i was young, I remember reading that Gene Simmons had a collection of thousands of pictures of random naked women.

That blew my mind. I thought he was the luckiest man in the world.

With internet access, we are all Gene Simmons.

Because JFK only sent America to the moon to impress the chicks.

It was no coincidence spaceships were phallic shaped

Yeah, well if your boss, GW, is telling you to stand down while the greatest swindle in modern times was being perpetrated, then porn seems like a reasonable addiction, especially if the people in charge didn't bother to apply filters Has to make one wonder.

When it comes to the development of the internet, you are completely wrong.

Look into the history.

Porn has been around as long as mankind (or probably before for all I know).

But technology has definitely made it more accessible.

And while I could not care less what adults do, I am concerned that teenagers and even young children can access porn more easily.

It taints their developing minds, especially those of young children.

But the world cares nothing about this, as long as money is made.

This is why we, a corrupt civilization, will shortly go the way of those corrupt ones before us.

Well, in the good ole days, teenage girls didn't need to worry about sex, because most were married shortly after they became teenagers. Even though the girls at the bottom of the social circle were married to much older men, and the peasants just simply raped at the desire of the nobility. It was a grand system.

Boys were much more likely to be introduced into the desires of the priesthood by young ages, and no one was going to pay attention, their immortal souls were at risk. Well, if you were of nobility, you always had peasant girls, or slave girls. Poor boys could always escape to sea, where they probably had more choices.

YEAH, the morality of the good ole days was so much better.

Except all of history has demonstrated just the opposite.

Sexually repressive cultures stagnate, while sexually liberated cultures prospered. Thus the Hellenistics were always ahead of the Abrahamistic religions. The west ahead of the east, and on and on.

Humans have never valued other humans from the start.

What amazes me is that we are still here.

Humans are probably the worst creation, when you think about all the beautiful animals and how beautiful the world is, except for humans who persist in trying to ruin everything.
