Vendetta has a point that Muslims take the brunt of far too much hatred from ignorant people. The fact is South Park knew depicting Muhammad, even if just in a cartoon is disrespectful, and something the Muslim culture takes very seriously. Matt and Trey knew they were making themselves targets and they even made a joke of it by keeping Muhammad veiled for the majority of the two episodes.

What I have a problem with is the way it was handled by the blogger on a website known for it's extremist views. And to say that it wasn't a threat is ludicrous. Think of it this way, if you're walking down the road and you're approached by gang bangers, not flaunting their guns, but, you know they have them. Now, the leader says something along the lines of "You know... If you don't gimme your wallet, something might happen to you.." Then pulls out his stolen iPhone and starts texting your address to every one on his contact list. You want to tell me you wouldn't take that as a threat.

In this case, since the site is know for extremism, you can't view them as poor innocent Muslims, you need to be realistic and see them for what they are.

Anon did a public service defacing their site, yes, the depicted images offend more than their target, but, sometimes collateral damage is needed.

There is one more thing I want to mention. There was nothing offensive said about Muhammad or the Muslim religion. They should have held to keeping Muhammad hidden out of respect, yes, but, all they said about Muhammad was that he cannot be made fun of for fear of retribution from extremists. South Park is more than a story of potty mouthed children, it's a vehicle for putting forth the writers' and producers' political and social views. By South Park being censored, their point wasn't veiled, it was made indisputable. Not only was the show censored for making fun of Muhammad (which they never did,) they were censored from using the name Muhammad at all.

It just goes to show the vast difference between Muslims and the western culture. In an episode of SP pitting Jesus vs. David Blaine, they basically said Jesus never performed miracles, rather he tricked people. I can't remember any threats or even bad press from something far worse than saying Muhammad can't be made fun of.

Between westerners' ignorance to what is and isn't okay to say about the Muslim faith and culture and the Muslim culture taking things to a level never intended it seems all the two sides can do is agree to disagree... Like that would happen...

I also want to add something I find quite insightful...and relates heavily to my previous post concerning racial identification.

At birth, I opened my eyes for the first time, and later learned I was a 'white/Caucasian'. What does this mean? I mean... I do not recall making a choice.
I also become adapted to my surroundings, which happens to be in the Pacific Northwest, in a peaceful 'sub-urban' area and all that goes with it. Again, nothing I did, but merely a result of my parents foresight and or necessary migration for employment.
The time, was in the mid 1980's, again... I did not adjust the proverbial 'Delorian Dial'

Where am I going with all of this? To some of you, perhaps it is obvious; as I mentioned before, I am CERTAIN none of us chose our body/location.

That being said... to me this is simple... look at a micro-example of the world to find the answers. This could be your home, your neighboorhood, your city, your state/province, etc: Where does the crime/violence and desperation come from? Is it a color of people? a race? No... never, bums thieves and thugs are white/black/purple/yellow... and they ALL have ONE thing in common. Poverty. Poverty, and an UNFAVORABLE 'spawn point' at birth.

I hope some of you are able to intuit what i am saying here, it is extremely difficult for me to depict what is in my mind into words... I apologize if it seems like i am 'all over the place', but it is simply because i FIRMLY believe that EVERYTHING is intrinsically connected.

I wanted to add a few key points I had forgotten*

Each race does have distinctions, and are not racist what-so-ever... We (as in each race) were designed and evolved in our atmospheres/environments uniquely. A few examples, African's are designed for durability/strength and speed to deal with the precariousness of African surroundings, Asians seem to be built more or less fragile, I imagine because of the lack of threats in the surroundings enabling them to be more calculators and eat rice because of the abundance and efficiency of it... I could go on, and on... 'stereotypes' that simply are NOT racial...but ARE racial... We need to start ACCEPTING our differences and learning from each other instead of PRETENDING they are NOT there dribbling ourselves on into an inevitable PANTS down moment somewhere in the near future.

Muslims/arabs middle easterners in general are being targeted because of the location they are from and ALL that encompasses, not because we/they think they look funny, or aren't what we are, or anything ridiculous like that. EVEN the most racist people , i believe , feel this way but simply are too attached to their ego and are simply AFRAID.

And still somehow every religion has a few crazies that have never read the first and basic rule. Thou shalt not kill.

I agree with the others, this website was sending a warning that was legitimately intending to help them. As a result they became the target of hate. Not that I encourage violence, but the hackers attacked the innocent.

I have a question which I cannot seem to find the answer to at all.

Have the two people in question been arrested for these "threats"? I ask this because it should answer the question of if they actually threatened anyone. The evidence of said "threat" is rather widespread so i can't see why they wouldn't be arrested.

Frankly, their ringleader looks mentally unstable and in need of a shave. If anyone is afraid of him...well, I'd think they might be frightened by anything.

Absolute nonsense... dishing out an address, publicly declaring them enemies both via the internet and CNN, given what has happened with Van Gogh, and others alike ... This is like greasing up a playboy model and hurling her over a prison fence. Who reads this web-site? I had never heard of it... it is an extremist outlet, for extremists , and by extremists...

For those of you who DIDN'T get it... M stone and T parker illustrated their point beautifully and delivered once again in true ingeniously ironic fashion. I heard this once and it has always stayed with me , i'll share it with you guys:

If you tell an typically unattractive person they are ugly to their face, they are going to be upset. If you tell a super-model they are ugly, they will laugh in your face. If you aren't breaking any laws, you don't care about roadblocks, if you're pissed drunk behind the wheel they're your worst nightmare.

I hope there are enough brains among us to truly value what's been shared here.

Ummm no! it is an emo outlet ran by a guy who wakes up in the U.S.A. every morning and eats bacon and eggs then turns on his American cable T.V. and watches his favorite soaps.
If he was extremist he would be over there helping his alleged bretheren in their cause.

Do you not realize that giving your opinion also counts as free speech? Or is free speech only important when you're white? Apparently it's a good idea to stifle free speech by using illegal and intrusive means. You only support things like that til it happens to you.
..............

.....What in the world does race have to do with this?.... Do you have ANY idea that there are white people who are Muslims?.... In fact WHITE Muslims caused the murder of over 2 million people, mostly Christians, and mostly BLACK CHRISTIANS in Sudan from 1983 til 2003 in the first Jihad ordered by the government of Sudan....and on the SECOND jihad which started in 2003 until about 2005 over 500,000 were murdered by the same WHITE MUSLIMS, and in this case they were murdered for BEING BLACK.... it didn't matter to the WHITE MUSLIMS that these BLACK PEOPLE were MUSLIMS TOO......

There are extremists in every country. Including American, Canadian... you do not need to be physically involved with war to be an extremist.

I agree with some of what you are saying though. He/they are enjoying the rights/freedoms while slandering/threatening creating a paradoxical conundrum of hypocrisy.

That same freedom of speech is being used to destroy freedom of speech and to instal another Socialist dictatorship in the U.S. and other western countries....

People should have learned a LONG TIME AGO that "freedom of speech" does not equal installing programs, economic, and forms of govenrment that DESTROY or seek to at least oppress those same rights which are given for example by the U.S. Constitution....

I feel the same way every time I see a Muslim woman walking around in a burqa or with the headdress. Basically, it brands her husband as a radical, puts a price on his head, which I think maybe belongs there.

I feel insulted by the subversive dress Muslim women are duped into wearing.

Here is compromise, we won't make fun of Mohammad, although if there is a religious figure who deserves ridicule, it certainly is him, and you stop burqa and hadreth.

I retract my statement, the orginally topic did not state their addresses were posted. They're addresses being posted needlessly endangers the lives of there respective families (true terror tactics). Hacking that website was not a suitable retaliation.

I thought it was Arab Muslim who slaughtered all those Sudanese.

Are you sure about your facts. Mostly, the only white Muslims are Serbs who converted to Islam.

Have you ever seen what Arab people look like? Did you even know that a large portion of the Middle East is/was made up of non black people, and for many centuries they were even Christians, and Pagans who worshipped the Moon before Mohammed set forth to unite the tribes by force?

My father and his family roots are from the Canary islands, my mother's from Spain in Northern Zamora. Both sides of my family are different, meanwhile my mother's side are all very fair skinned with green or blue eyes, my father's family is darker skin, with brown eyes and with black hair, yet they both are seen as white. The greek people are also mostly black hair, and a bit darker complexion, just like many Arab people.

I know there are many caucasians who beleive they are the only white skinned people in the world, but they are not.

Let me put it in perspective.

Here is an image from a drawing from the Book of Gates depicting the main 4 colors of people, and how they existed even in the Middle East.

The most famous part of the Book of Gates today refers to the different races of humanity known to the Egyptians, dividing them up into four categories that are now conventionally labelled "Egyptians", "Asiatics", "Libyans", and "Nubians". These are depicted in procession entering the next world.

en.wikipedia.org...

19th to 20th century
Main article: Caucasian race

During the period of the mid 19th to mid 20th century,[19] it was common practice in anthropology to classify the worlds populations in one of three great races, which, depending on the authority consulted, were further divided into various sub-races. The three great races were the Europid (Caucasian, white), Mongoloid (Asian) and Negroid (black) race.

There has never been any scholarly consensus on the delineation between the Europid race, including the populations of Europe, and the Mongoloid one, including the populations of East Asia. Thus, Carleton S. Coon (1939) included the populations native to all of Central and Northern Asia under the Caucasian label, while Thomas Henry Huxley (1870) classified the same populations as Mongoloid, and Lothrop Stoddard (1920) excluded the populations of the Middle East and North Africa as well as those of Central Asia, classifying them as "brown", and counted as "white" only the European peoples.

Some authorities, following Huxley (1870), distinguished the Xanthochroi or light whites of Northern Europe with the Melanochroi or dark whites of the Mediterranean.

The study into race and ethnicity in the late 19th century developed into what would later be termed scientific racism.

21st century
Alastair Bonnett has stated that, a strong "current of scientific research supports the theory that Europeans were but one expression of a wider racial group (termed sometimes Caucasian), a group that included peoples from Asia and North Africa".(1) Bonnett, does, however, note that this is not a commonplace definition: in Europe and North America the inclusion of non-Europeans is a "technicality little favoured outside certain immigration bureaucracies and traditional anthropology."(1)

Raj Bhopal and Liam Donaldson opine that white people are a heterogeneous group, and the term white should therefore be abandoned as a classification for the purposes of epidemiology and health research, and identifications based on geographic origin and migration history be used instead.[20]

en.wikipedia.org...

Arab people are white, just like Greeks were/are white but with a darker complexion because of the regions they lived, and live in.

You take an Arab person and drop them in a very cold environment and their skin would become as white as other caucasoids.

And Mohammed was a murderer, who dealt in slavery, and raiding caravans... He even went against the so call mandates that the Angel Gabriel supposedly gave him.... He claimed he was told that Muslims can only marry up to 4 women as mandated by Allah if and only if the husband could take care of them, which meant if he had enough possessions to pay for them and to feed them. Yet Mohammed married 12 women, mostly slaves taken from caravans, and one of them was but a child.... No wonder there is so much extremism in Islam. That is the truth, at least how I learned it in Spain/Europe, before it became "PC"....

Did you also know that Mohammed took more spoils of war, and the best spoils which included women, than his followers?... Talk about "equality"...
