In conversation between myself and a friend this interesting bit came up.

The selection of Pope is a mysterious process that definitely involves politics. As the head of state the Pope is immune to prosecution. Considering how completely the recently revealed documents link the Cardinal to the cover-up, it's possible, hell, even likely that his selection as Pope was a quid pro quo for keeping the matter concealed for so long. Once he assumed the role as Pope he'd be immune from prosecution, taking the public opinion hit for the scandal but staying well out of reach.

Does anyone think that this story and the entanglement of the Pope will simply blow over , or could this actually bring the Pope down ?

It will not blow over.

I know this because I have been keeping newspaper articles of paedophile priests for around three months now. The reason I do this, is because this subject started appearing to frequently, and it became obvious to me that whoever was in charge for selecting the stories in the paper was on a mission.

The only way a one world religion can start is after the destruction of all the others.

Perhaps the Pope should let their priests marry. Maybe then(BIG maybe) they would not be so horny that they need to molest a child.

How horny would you have to be to need to molest a child?

It's a silly question, isn't it. You would never "need to molest a child," however frustrated you were.

People don't molest children because they are horny, they molest children because they desire children.

Because paedophiles in the Catholic church have so much opportunity to molest children, and are so well protected while they do it, paedophiles have been attracted to the church. As they have risen in power they have worked to make the church a paedophile heaven.

There are still good people within the church, but, on the whole, it's a hypocritical edifice to greed, to deceit, to worship of power, and to uncontrolled, perverted lusts.

The church that presided over the hunting down of village wise-women, the crusades, the murder of the Cathars and the silencing of scientists has had no moral standards to get in the way of this final desecration.

One day these priests will learn the truth of Christ's greatest statement:
"Whatever you do to the least of these children, you also do to me."

Oks let say they are successful in gaining a warrant to arrest the pope, do you really think the Government in the UK will allow this arrest to go ahead. NO they will not. If anything the Queen would probably intervene, and put a stop to it.

The UK Government has changed the law before, they would do it again to protect the pope.

That's when Dan Brown sends in the Neo Fascists from CERN and in the morning they discover Benedict hanging from a chandelier with a stretched 3 foot length of surgical tubing tied around his throat... they can now call Benedict the Vatican Pizza delivery boy.. =)

He's not just for Breakfast anymore!... =)

And that is why the UK Government has rebuked the UN Before, and they would do it again, Remember the UK Government thought it was above international LAW during the Iraq War. They would do it again if it was against national interest.

I can guarantee, anyone trying to arrest the pope, would be forcefully removed by the N.W.O. Police.

Heres the thing. Pope Benedict is stuffed. Done. Ok? Great, but that will not help the victims , or thier families. It will not help the relatives of folks who took thier own lives in disgust, and it will not help those who were more than likely killed in the commission of the terrible acts perpatrated by the predators in the priesthood.
What it will do is stigmatise the Roman Catholic Church, and may shake many nations, and provinces across the earth.Rather than merely investigating the figurehead for his crime of obsfucation, there ought to be an externaly organised investigation into every parish, every priest, every member of every parish, and look under EVERY stone in this murky pool. Of course by examining the figurehead, attention will be called away from the source of the problem, the perpatrators of the horrible wrongs commited against children. Sure its got to be a good thing that folks want to go to the top, but there can be no justice while the priests who actualy DID these things are still at large, and even still employed by the church in some cases.
Going after Benedict in this way however, will be a media storm which many will watch in the misguided belief that FINALY something is being done about the problem. Unfortunately this will be stage managed better than The Phantom Of The Opera! Chances are, even if he gets a sentance , the real problem will still exist. A root and branch crackdown, the utter removal of all rotten priests, is still some way from being even begun. Sure, a few here and there are out now, but there are still many at large. This must be recitified. Until it is, all this nonsense has no meaning.

Rome is NOT a country and neither is the Vatican.

..and the problem is not just about people not sharing the same beliefs as a religious leader; the problem that religious leader actively protecting child molesters. Not sure how you missed that one.

Did anyone seriously believe that this Hitler Youth Pope would ever be a beacon of moral virtue??? The Vatican is a diseased organization right down to its foundation. The Pope will never be honestly tried in a court of justice because the powers that be are too intertwined. It is the court of public opinion that could change things. As the public outcry grows, the power of the church weakens. We saw this when the pedophile scandal broke in the US. Church revenues are still way down. The church had to sell off a large amounts of its assets and ended up closing several churches. The pubic needs to keep up the pressure upon this evil cult of self serving psychotics and bring down this house of corruption. The current Pope is a perfect example of what is wrong with religious authority when it gets too powerful. Imagine, a world religion that would elect a Hitler Youth to it's top position, and people think it has any moral credibility.

Richard Dawkins spoke out today as well. I am all for it. How dear those religious clowns to walk in church? I am sure Christ (if there is one) is getting a gray hair from all this and now probably looks very much like god himself.

I am of the protestant faith and am glad as too much power is held in the hands of a pope and bishops- there are a lot of questions for the RC church to answer

(as an aside, I hate to see people like Dakins jumping on the bandwagon)

If indeed Christ exists *fingers crossed*, then I don't think our physical ageing will be an issue in the non physical spiritual world

the catholic church and the vatican get away with molesting children and covering up for it because people on the outside do not care what they do...if they did, they would be arrested and put in jail...it's pretty simple to me. plus, the majority of catholics don't care much about peadophilia, or these church leaders would have been thrown out and put in prison along time ago.
and after listening to coast to coast tonight (4/11/10), this is widespread throughout the world of the catholic church, and their respective leaders, and it will continue, because the cover-up will continue. so, for all you kid-touchers out there, the catholic church is better than a schoolyard.

I'm not so sure about that.

If the Catholic religion crumbles, people will need a new one...

I do not agree that he has immunity.. but even if he was legally entitled to it why would you think thats morally okay? Should he be allowed to protect child molesters and get away with it? If there are other world leaders doing the same thing.. whats wrong with making them accountable as well? You seem to be saying "whats to stop other powerful criminals being punished?". If this starts are new trend where world leaders and other elite are held accountable for their crimes I'm all for it.

No one should have immunity from those types of crimes they are absolutely heinous .... I am surprised that there are not people rioting in St Peters square.

The problem is the crimes are soooooooooo bad people even struggle to discuss such a topic.

Down with those who were part of the cover up.
