Clearly, it was made by some ancient, banana loving civilization. They just fit too perfect for it not to be so.

A simple "sorry i see no similarity between the two" would suffice.

Why the hostile posts about meds and personnally critical contrabutions?

There may be a higher quality of threads on ATS if people didn't attack the ideas contributors make now as it is.

want people to open up and share here?
or is this where you come to blow off steam and try to cut people down?

The subject matter is what it is. you see a connection or you don't.

opinions are more than welcome,
but psychological diagnosis should probably be left up to the doctors, not the...
What is your proffesion Lostayos?
and what meds do you offer a prescription for?

Forget the Pacific, whoever terraformed our world are clearly soccer fans - just look at Italy! Is that a hint as to who will win the World Cup this year?

(must admit, not sure why they're playing in high heels though!)

That ramble had nothing to do with anything i asked you, and did little to prove your sanity, as called into question by the odd postings under your MUP.

Public Service Announcement

Folks, if we cold please remain on topic, that would be great. Please post to the topic and not about the contributor. Courtesy is not optional. Questioning and discussion is fine. Personal attacks are not.

Problems with a member should be taken to Staff. If the topic offends you to the point of being unable to participate on-topic and civilly, please select another thread for participation.

Thank You.

Sounds fair to me, and fair to others.

The subject matter is (i think) self evident if one can see how the Pacific Ocean resembles an ape:

The odds of the Pacific Ocean resembling our closest relative on earth without intelligent intervention IS hands down against the odds.

It is in this forum because if it does exist, IT WAS MADE IN THE PAST.

since no civilization on earth takes credit for it, then some civilization in the past may have contributed to it's existance.

The most conceivable options *from my perspective are:

1) You don't see the resemblance, and it's just a bogus thread topic

2) You can see the resemblance, and it is totally coincidental

3) It has been around for awhile and it is at least partially manufactured by some civilization. And the odds of it existing at all without any intelligent intervention is stagering.

any other options you guys can think of?

Your picture - I see counter clockwise when processing the picture, when reading text around it I see it go clockwise. When paying attention to both at the same time, it doesn't rotate it swings from left to right then right to left.

Hows that.

And yet i seem to remember flat world maps in the front of the classroom all through grade school.

sure we globes, too.

but the majority of the time in geography we used flat maps, even on the tests.

Well .... no-one else can see it and I think my comment about the resemblance of Italy being a foot kicking a ball (Sicily) is rather better.

So, what are your thoughts on this ancient civiisation being soccer fans?

And then, there's always Slartibartfast. I do like his crinkly bits

So what. You use flat maps. You use one type of projection of surfaces of a spherical object.

You say it like it means something.

I believe what you're dealing with is in general, aphophenia and specifically a type of pareidolia.

That is, seeing patterns in random meaningless data (aphophenia) and specifically human, or at least anthropoidal, shapes. Like the Man in the Moon, or those threads that are always cropping up with pictures of the surface of the Moon or Mars and people see gorillas and helmets and tool belts and mine equipment.

It's the equivalent of seeing bunnies and dragons in cloud shapes. Just my opinion.

It is possible however, that an ancient cult of phallic worshipers sculpted out Florida. (just kidding)

It's been hypothesized we're hardwired to see human faces in the most minimal of details. That could be a boon when you're a child in a dark cave and need to recognize a friendly quickly. But it also means we're hardwired to see human (anthropoidal) faces/heads when our minds "fill in" around minimal data and create an inaccurate interpretation.

Bear in mind, I'm no expert.

and you read it like it doesn't mean anything?

just a vague loosely connected vaguery of perception?

I'm familiar with those terms, and admittingly i'm no expert either.

So you are going with: 2) You can see the resemblance, and it is totally coincidental.

i can't argue with your opinion, and at least you can see a resemblance.
I'm not offended in the least if you think it's just coincidental.
Sort of hard for me to prove otherwise.
perhaps it is just coincidence, but an unusual coincidence at that (*in my opinion)

Thanks for sharing.

Personally, I see an Easter Island Moai face(as viewed from the side) but like most of the other posters in this thread I think its a matter of me seeing 'shapes in the clouds'.
