Am I wrong or are there a heck of a lot of people joining ATS recently?

I think more and more people are learning not to trust a media that spews forth whatever those who control it want us to hear, and it's not always the truth, therefore they turn to sites such as ATS where current events can be discussed openly amongst the members, many of whom are excellent investigators who won't be pushed around by the likes of Bill O'Reilly and others of his ilk.

One thing I really appreciate about ATS is the ability to discuss some really "out there" things without suffering unrestrained ridicule

I really hate to disagree, but when I first came to this site I had the same thoughts...What I thought distiguishes ATS from everywhere else in fact was just that! It seemed like a really intelligent community willing to anaylize the unknown in a civil and intelligent manner!

Not really. More and more recently there have been LOTS of ridicule here. Just look at the thread by 'Astroengineer'. (as 1 example) That guy got like what....3 posts in the ENTIRE 22 page thread since it was overloaded by a MOUNTAIN of ridicule, and he was BRAN new here!

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Sure there were lots of stars but that thread was 22 pages of PURE ridicule.
This is happening all the time on ATS now. It's annoying and
dis-respectful.

Some great imaginations on you guys.

People are getting tired of the same ole same ole from the MSM, and are looking for the real truth.

If you suspect something is wrong or doesn't seem right through the mainstream, you google it..... low and behold, ATS pops up in the search discussing the very thing you are questioning.

I am sure as 2012 draws near it will only continue to increase. Even for those who do not believe anything surrounding the "2012" deal, you have to admit people are waking up, little by little.

Call it "waking up", "awakening" or rising consciousness, perhaps the Mayans really were on to something.

You raise an interesting point. No, we can't review every post in every thread, or even a lot of threads, in anything close to real time. The ones moving quickly and generating pages of posts in a short time period are most challenging. We're relying on the membership to alert to issues. No alerts were sent by the thread starter concerning that thread.

Did it get out of control? Yes. That can and does happen. Please submit an alert when you find actions contrary to the Terms and Conditions.

Just remember, disagreement isn't prohibited. Unreasonable incivility and rudeness is.

Well I rejoined because it cycled back on my debunking and disinformation duty roster. Used a new name obviously.

Can an ATS member register under more than ! user name. Let's say 3 or 4 to help star and flag their thread. Or to gang up on a reply to a post?

Interesting question. I actually lost my username and p/w in a catastrophic HDD failure. Since I am also using a new ISP I couldn't request them to be e-mailed to me. Never considered your scenario though.

Thanks for the info. The reason I ask is some of the reply to a post seem they have a different face but the voice or words they type are very similer, like phrases and tone within the reply.

Can you please determine the amount of new sign-up each day/week/month?

It would be neat to compare those numbers to the events going on at the time.

Thank you for the update too.

The only stats like that available are on the board page on the left side middle.

I have noticed an increase in acceptance of CT ideas/memes this year overall. It seems to be a trend of sorts. I suspect the internet itself has something to do with this (better access and choice of news). I think sooner or later most people have an innate curiousity that leads them to wonder about the 'secrets'. Popular TV/ movies also seem to mining current CT for ideas (like the last Indianna Jones movie which was largely shameless about this) thus giving a familiarity as a bridge for people.

as an aside; unity I love the image in your profile pic - is it your own work?

New record today. So far, 5,468 members visiting today at the time of this post. Watch it increase toward the bottom of the board page.

And it continues. Maybe I am just more aware now but I have to say it makes me feel real good.

It is almost like college. Starving minds of mush, yearning to learn and wanting to get their ideas out.

I was looking over my personal page and got to thinking. I actually learned about ATS-say around 6 years ago this month. But it wasn't until recently (1/09) that I joined.

A few post above someone commented on the one thread which got attacked. I agree with you and I believe I eluded to it in this thread. It seems the older members tend to get away with some serious whacking of a member (especially the newer ones) and they don't get any crap from a mod-leading me to think it not what they are saying but rather who they are.

But now we have learned about the ALERT button. I can tell you 100% there is one particular member that has been going off-for no reason, other than they must know they can get away with it-that I will gladly use/try the ALERT button for the first time. I put up with enought crap at work and I would like not to see it here-so much. (done ranting).

Welcome new members. Be sure to learn about the STAR & FLAG tabs! And don't reply to trolls/trolling. Just ignore them-they'll go away.

If anyone wants to tackle it, go to the member list, go to by date, and go to the last page. Working backwards, you could inventory each day and the number of sign ups, then graph it, and correlate to events.

I would star and flag you for that. I should have thought of that...

I checked for the day I wrote this post. There were about 85 new registers! Guess I was right.

That item you lead me/us to is a very telling tale. I didn't think of how many people joined/members etc. Good job
