Mark Potok, an editor at the Southern Poverty Law Center who tracks extremists and hate speech, said the group stems from the "sovereign citizen" movement, including those who do not believe in paying taxes or abiding by zoning or other regulations. Some contend that a person has not committed a crime if there is no complaining witness.

From your article-

Some contend that a person has not committed a crime if there is no complaining witness.
God, do any of these people out there have a brain!?
There is no crime if there is no victim!
Jeeez, sometimes I want to just slap these bozos upside the head.
And who cares what the SPLC says. It is another gov bureaucracy hidden by the gov to make people think it is an autonomous organization.
Oh well, I guess they were right, they will use subterfuge, propaganda and outright lies.
Besides the U.S. government, a number of watchdog groups, such as the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), maintain a database of current domestic terrorist and militia groups. In addition to keeping abreast of the activities of these groups, the ADL and SPLC also provide education and training to reduce hate crimes, or attacks perpetrated against an individual or a group based on ethnicity, religion, or sexual preference. Groups specifically preaching hateful ideologies against homosexuals and different races include various Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazi, black separatist, and racist skinhead organizations.
SPLC also claims that William Lewis Films, Oath Keepers, Restore the Republic and a host of other “patriot-minded” people are militia and conspiracy minded, and, by planting the suggestion in the minds of their readers, that they might even have their roots in “white supremacy” (directly from SPLC: “Though some Patriot movement beliefs have roots in white supremacy”); yet they are nothing of the sort. If the Center had done their proper homework they would find that these people and groups only want the government to be held accountable for its egregious legislation and actions AGAINST the American people and to RETURN to a government that is aligned with our Founding Documents: the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence. How, may I ask, is that “militia or conspiratorial minded” or “white supremacist?” Readers need to realize that these are the tools our government, and apparently SPLC, is using to create doubt in the minds of people unfamiliar with what is truly going on.

It just seems implausible to me that the necessary contacts, interactions, planning, etc., could go on for a year or longer under the noses of TPTB without members of this group being suicided by now. If this effort were successful, the potential losses for the ruling elite would be staggering. I can't imagine this effort ever getting this far.

There was no reason to take action or even take note of such a futile and, really, insignificant effort. Not that the emotions aren't real nor the frustration unfounded. It's that this amounts to nothing more than a publicity campaign. Anyone who thought this would have any effect whatsoever is delusional.
It's interesting but not authentic. This is nothing more than a small group of attention seekers who, despite their silly claims to the contrary, do not represent the majority of the people. I don't recall the public forums during which they sought the opinions of people like me. They simply sat around some kitchen table, baseball hats in place, and appointed themselves to be something they clearly aren't; important.

As far as I am understanding it, they never intended to represent the majority of the people, at least at this time. They are representing the sovereign citizens; themselves. You are free to remain part of the current Corporate government as you please.

Or, I could, in fact, be in disagreement with the "Corporate government," and still be able to recognize nonsensical publicity stunts.
So far, a number of Guardians have emerged. Kennedy, a Texas radio-show host, was interviewed for two hours on Friday by the FBI, but not arrested. Another "elder" listed is Tom Schaults, who runs clinics on "attorney repellant technology." And a third is the owner of the Guardians website, Clive Boustred, whom Mother Jones describes as "a British-educated former South African soldier with an apparent knack for 'anti-terrorist warfare.'"
The appearance of Mr. Boustred in the mix may give some clue to the assertion by the Guardians that they had an agreement with "the military" to support their quiet coup.
