I much prefer my tax dollars going to poor people even if there are a few welfare cheats than war profiteers cashing in on the blood of our young people.

Welfare is a system. It does not have the ability to FUEL anything. PEOPLE behave recklessly, not welfare.

ask this question, if you give a dog to much leash how long will it take before it decides it doesnt need to obey its trainer?

A dog? Are you serious? :shk: To answer your question, if the dog is properly trained, it doesn't even need a leash. A leash is a crutch. Don't get me wrong, I use leashes when I take my dogs off property (it's the law), but on our property, they don't wear leashes OR collars. They are trained and not one of them have ever decided not to obey me. I train dogs, btw.

Its a failed system that fuels behavior that keeps the user on or under the poverty line.

Im sure your dogs are great but that's not the point because if you want to apply that to that im talking about then the people who HAVE BEEN trained would be fine yes, but those who go from poverty to having a form of income and do not have the knowledge, guidance, or urge to use it properly will only further there own self destruction.

Please tell me if i miss interpreted what you said

I don't think you're getting my point. What you're saying is analogous to "guns are dangerous". Guns, like the welfare system, are inanimate, and cannot act with will or malice. It's the people who USE (or abuse) these tools that decide the outcome.

MANY, MANY people use the welfare system to help them get on their feet and then go on to be productive citizens. Many people are unable to work in this society and use the welfare system to get along in life. That's what it's for. Then, there are those who I think you're talking about, who abuse the system, take advantage of it and don't even try to do their part. You are looking at this last group and blaming the welfare system for THEIR failure. If welfare was a failed system, it wouldn't work for ANYONE and the first two groups wouldn't exist.

So, it's not the welfare system that is at fault, it's the PEOPLE who abuse welfare that are the problem. Does that make sense? We can disagree, but I wanted to make sure you understood my position.

And the people who have been "trained" to take pride in themselves, not be lazy, not take advantage of others, etc., ARE in the first 2 groups above. I'm in that group. There was a time in my life when I needed supplemental income. But because I had been "trained" to have a sense of pride and self-sufficiency by my parents, I couldn't WAIT to get my own job and support myself. And I did what was necessary to do that.

but those who go from poverty to having a form of income and do not have the knowledge, guidance, or urge to use it properly will only further there own self destruction.

I agree with this. But it's still the people themselves who decide NOT to go out and get a job, go to school, or whatever they need to to be successful.

'I have a very good friend of mine that has been on welfare since she had her first child at 18 years old. Since then she has had 2 other children, all from different fathers, and she collects child support from each of them. She also receives a child tax benefit, or what we call a “baby bonus” and $100/each per month universal child care benefit for her two youngest children. (Everyone gets this in Ontario, Canada, until child is 6 years old.)'

This does not sound so much like welfare though it is, but it looks like your friend is seting up franchises, looks like its good business to sleep around and have kids with different men. She has insentive bonuses for her lifestyle.
I wouldn't judge all welfare recipients by this, sure some are riding the system, soner or later all things fall through the cracks. Others have actual problems and really need it to survive.
