Sorry, but I just don't get the importance of a possible dark strip across the windscreen...

1. While I can vaguely see the effect being referred to, it is quite natural for the sky to darken overhead in an image like that - it's what the scene often looks like.. To try to prove the existence of a windscreen on the basis of a slight darkening of sky in a sunset scene..? nah. Stick with the reflections. I'm keeping a lookout for a PT that I can convince the owner to let me sit in...

2. If you are holding a camera up near the windscreen, it is VERY unlikely that you will include that strip. Try it. I already have, and none of my sample images showed the dark strip that exists on my windscreen - refer here:
files.abovetopsecret.com...
You can see the darkening to a small extent there, and I can assure you that the strip on my windscreen was NOT anywhere near in shot. The camera/phone would very likely have been too far below the strip, and pointed at an angle that would not include it.

Also, a quick reminder that there are at least two very different designs of dashboard, so if anyone is trying to match up the reflections, make sure you do all your homework!

Oh, and Zazz if you're listening, and it's ok with Fiona, can you put the car in a position where the outside view is darkened, eg facing trees, in a garage, put a dark colored beach towel over the screen.. whatever, and then take several shots WITH FLASH, so we can see what the dashboard reflections actually look like.

It can be awkward with some cameras to force their flash to fire - if you need help, let me know (name the camera..).

If you can't use a flash, just try to get the dash well lit so that you can see it reflecting clearly by eye...

Is there a way to pull up members comments via a search option?
I would like to look over all of Fiona's remarks collectively for I know this is possible on other forums. Just wondering if I am overlooking this feature.

Thanks~

I second this. I'd like to see a shot taken from inside at the proposed angle. I think it would be far more productive to get a 'repeat shot' of what we are seeing in terms of reflections.

I still maintain the reflection we're seeing is the mirror and a reflection of a white hatchback, as i posted many pages ago. It will be interesting to see what the results are.

You can go to one of Fiona's posts and then click the button that says "thread" (look at the bottom of the post). That will give you all her posts in this thread, and only her posts.

Hope this helps.

Yes.

Click their name at the left of any post.

Then click on " [posts] " near the top of the profile screen that appears.

Then click in the right hand column ("In-Thread"), on 'thread posts' against the thread in question. Hope that makes sense.

I missed a couple of pages but this is important.

She's saying here that she never denied a lamp post. Only it was behind her and "Behind" doesn't have an automatic designation. So for argument sake, let's assume, behind her was 3 feet.

And when looking up, in her excitement she SNAPPED the picture of this infamous lamp post which was not too far from her to begin with (only, she didn't notice it at the time. Understandably)
Yes. Before you beat me up. I am speculating as many of your are too.

(it's easy to mis-read her spelling too but she explains it here)

One: To show her consistency
Two: To answer the allegation that I was speculating (in reference to Fiona saying this about the lamp post)
and
Three: To simply waste 15 minutes of my life.

Good?
(smile)

hi twophish, sorry but a lampost being behind someone whether its 1 foot or 50 foot is nothing like it being about 30 foot in front of you,!!!!!. you're really starting to go out on a limb with illogical speculation to defend her. i dont know why at all. maybe its because you offended her early in the thread and feel guilty?. or cos shes a female?. or because you're a blind believer?. or a mixture of all?. either way i think you're letting your heart and emotions rule your judgement and are just ignoring the holes in this story.

for me i was suspicions from the start but was prepared to give her the benefit of doubt but the further this has gone its convinced me that either set out purposely to hoax or decided to hoax after seeing the pictures.

the pictures someone posted of another identical car windscreen with an almost identical reflection was the final nail in the coffin for me,

Sorry, but I just don't get the importance of a possible dark strip across the windscreen...

If it could be shownto be so, it adds weight to the reflectioon and theidea that they were shot through the windscreen,
refuting the witness testimony.

1. While I can vaguely see the effect being referred to, it is quite natural for the sky to darken overhead in an image like that - it's what the scene often looks like..

I agree. However without excluding the possibility of tinting, it could be.

2. If you are holding a camera up near the windscreen, it is VERY unlikely that you will include that strip.

Very unlikely is not impossible. Angle (upward) would seem to make it possible.

You can see the darkening to a small extent there, and I can assure you that the strip on my windscreen was NOT anywhere near in shot.
The camera/phone would very likely have been too far below the strip, and pointed at an angle that would not include it.

agreed.

Pointless chris. The iphone has no flash and flash is not nessesary for reflection.
If anything flash will reflect light back into the lense causing 'whiteout'.

It wasnt behind her because its clearly apparent in her photo.

You know what the funniest ironic thing is? I am the MOST skeptical, cynical and non-believer of hear-say that there is.
However, something is just telling me, she's not lying.

And yes.....I think I took her under my wing sorta speak in the beginning because I DID feel extremely guilty of what I had previously said about her. So you're spot on.
But at the same time (39 pages later) I just have a feeling, you're all missing the truth.

Her story has a lot of twists and turns that are not benefical to her case and through all that, I can't help but notice her convictions!

I am a subscriber to Occam's Razor as WELL as Murphy's Law and at this point and time, my gut (although it was wrong when I doubted Fiona was really Fiona at first) is really telling me she's telling the truth and circumstantial evidence (or what appears to be evidence) is working against her.

Again, this happens more than we can imagine. People get sentenced to death, when their situation made them look guilty, and all the while, they WERE............innocent.

At the risk of starting a whole other Einstein meets Sherlock Holmes debate, why can't one pole be behind you and yet ANOTHER, be in front....30 feet as you put it?

It's a street. They are separated and stagnated, aren't they?

Perhaps (and YES.....I am speculating) there was one in front of her (30 feet) and ANOTHER behind her, 3 feet which..........was captured in her film!

What's the matter with THAT scenario?

It's not like this road had one big gigantic flood light. It had many.
And where Fiona was standing, it was a non-issue because they weren't in her way!

To me, that makes perfect sense.

a couple more points, you're forgetting that she first said the light wasn't a lampost and the lampost was behind her, maybe....maybe not has already proven there was no lampost behind her until the roundabout. after this was pointed out and the orange light was also shown to be a lampost she then spoke privately to a member and told him/her that yes it could have been, but when people picked up on this she came back on here defending herself that it wasn't a lampost. that is not consistent....

and as far as the reflection goes, i really dont think anyone now needs an expert to show that those reflections are almost identical in those pictures that someone posted, anyone can see it with their own eyes, and because those two things have been pretty much proven, the whole story has tumbled like a house of cards.

thanks

rich

because its been proven already that there is no other lampost and even if there was, she still photographed a LAMPOST! jeez...

it seems that you're just taking notice of what you want and ignoring what doesn't suit your belief, this is a non story, a hoax, there is no ufo. in fact after all thats been said and proved im quite surprised that this still has any momentum. that reflection picture killed this story stone dead, there is no way that you could just get a near identical reflection by accident with or without anything to make a reflection. therefore she took the pictures inside the car.... therefore its a hoax

thanks

rich

It can, but one WAS beside her as shown in her photo.

Ill tell you whats wrong with it. Anything 3 feet behind her is out of the range of her camera lense which is out infront of her pointing the other way.

And where Fiona was standing, it was a non-issue because they weren't in her way!

But they WERE in her photo. Before you tried to claim she shot the streetlight accidently while trying to photograph 'the big orange light'.
It cant be both ways can it.

Don't you hate it when things are "reduced to science'
