you might be on to something here. i know the guy in the picture and he often says things like "back in the 40's..." and "when i was living in a different time...". he's 29 and eccentric so i just assumed he was having a go. great find.

Guys... look at these obvious blur effects used to mesh the inserted image to the foreground...

i retract my image.

those mean nothing. the picture had to have been taken with a camera from the 40's and it doesn't seem unlikely that there could be imperfections in the photo. you're looking too hard for something that isn't there. this is the real deal.

Got to tell you look how the he has shadows left from the sun hitting his ear but no one else does. He is super imposed into the picture, hate to bust ur bubble. I don't think the website that posted it realized it.

Edited to tell you im talking about the picture the op posted

look at the way the light hits every one elses face in comparison, most even at the same angle of the light source as his.

[atsimage]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/b80623bff52a.jpg[/atsimage]

So the guys ears stick out a bit, hes facing a little less toward his left than others, hence the shadow from his ear. What are the odds!
Basic geometery folks. Back to school. No photoshop, no time traveller, just a guy who dosent happen to like suits.

I hate to be the one.......

But

Took me ages to work this one out. I'm pretty sure it's a Fake, a
very very good fake but a fake none the less.

A close up of the pixels on the person reveals a certain part of
him the pixels size, shape, detail of pixels do not match the pixels
of the surrounding people. It also has Pixel Lines where there shouldn't
be any lines at all.

There's also a white transparent triangle on the Woman to the left
of his head that also should not be there as it should be in shade.

And LightWonder came to exact conclusion as I did, before I read all the Posts.

Gotta love the photo manipulation experts, I really do. Any photo presented they find issue with, must be photoshopped, then they can point out pixelation, image blurring, etc etc, everytime, just amazing!

Have at this image Folks. What can you photoshop folk tell me about it, excepting the flash has overlit it and washed it out.?

cmon guys you really think this could be normal in the 1940's... really?....

its obviously a photoshop. If not, im speechless. But im counting on it being a photoshop. Ill double check later but theres no way this is real.

but if it is, that might explain all the "australia looks different" threads lol.

edit:

wow ... im really good with photoshop and zooming in i see nothing that shows a clear sign of photoshop....

ill keep looking and keep you posted.

** the one thing sticking out to me is the hair at the top. It seems to be a bit bigger than youd expect. Zooming in it looks like a "blur/smudge" job. Ill do a double check.

Yes, perfectly. Google yourselfs some photos of groups of people in the 40's. Particularly ones with younger folk 20's/30's yo Younger folk have always been the forfront of fashion change.
Find me a 20 yo kid in the forties with his pants hanging off his butt, a baseball cap backward and death metal t-shirt and Ill agree thats out of place.

Lol, the old man with his eyes closed, his chin looks bigger than you'd expect too, maybe he's jay leno's grandfather

Here's a Michigan Wolverine's (Football team) top from 1898:

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/files/bfc1c1b7c0cedb29.jpg[/atsimg].

So it's not inconceivable that at least 42 years later they'd still have that big ol' M on their tops.

Pretty sure someone's already done the camera and the shades.

As for that iPod the lady in the background is holding though....I'm not so sure.

I know I saw some photos on the Internet a few years back and while I can't remember exactly when it was, some old black and white photos were showing some men in the 50's using what appears to be cell phones.

While I found that interesting, I don't find your Beatnik photo as interesting but more of a leap of faith, because the "Beatniks" as they were called were some cool looking dudes with shades and I just cant leap to time traveler because he dressed odd.

For all we know he could have been the first FBI counterintelligence type and was just stuck on the Beatniks. You know, trying to "BLEND" like the natives.

Anyway show me a photo with a cell phone in the 50's and I sure you would be more prone to then assume that you are seeing a time traveler.

Thanks for the posting. It was a flash back in time nonetheless.

ok wow

i just confirmed its a super-imposed image. BUt holy crap, this guy is good. I mean seriously, this is some of the best photoshop work ive seen.

But it is a fake.

Here is the image with some color adjustments:

i101.photobucket.com...

save it to your computer and zoom in on his forehead. You will quickly see that his forehead has a different amount of pixels than the rest of the image. I think a few other people might also be photoshopped in but he is definitely photoshopped.

To be honest... if the guy had trimmed the background photo down to the same pixels as the "time traveler", i would never tell its a fake.

But seriously... a guy with that hair... those glasses... and that sweater.... 1920's... are u kidding me dude?..... (no offense)

If you do a little research, you'll see that nothing here is out of place for the time period we are talking about. In the 1940's, people did wear sunglasses, they did wear T-shirts with logos on. As has previously been mentioned, the camera is circa 1940.

The reason this guy stands out in the crowd is because he is young and everyone else is middle aged or old. He is wearing fashionable clothes of the day, most other people are wearing more traditional clothes.

He's obviously doing a bit of a "rebel without a clue" thing.

I find the light source (on everyones face) not consistent throughout the entire photo. And the contrast in the background, as so bright, it fades everything out.
Aren't black and white photos, by and large, supposed to stay pretty true-to-form and crisp throughout the years?

And I also couldn't help but notice, why........ on what appears to be a very sunny day......... is he the only one wearing sunglasses. Were plastic sunglasses even worn back then?

I think this is a hoax especially given the name of the photo "hipster + 1940". Is that the original name?

I see nothing that odd about the photo....

Yes he is dressed differently than the other people but the last time I checked just because you are wearing different clothes than some one else, does not make you a time traveler...

I bet I am wearing different clothes than you, and I have not traveled through time..

The camera is chronologically right, the hair, everything... The only thing is that he is dressed differently than all the old farts in the picture...Can you blame him though?

One last thing is that this guy is in the middle of a crowd... If he was so out of place... You would think they would all be looking at him... And not something off camera... Unless his time machine is over there.

Then there is the whole possibility of photo shop which is something I wont go into because I don't know much about that myself........

this looks photshopped, look at the size of his head,it just doesn't look right, even the people closer have smaller heads, but every thing else about him could be normal for that time .

How is the lightsource inconsistant? What about the contrast? Its a sunny day, light worked the same wayin the 40's you know.

I assure you I am not kidding you..'Dude'. Firstly the photo is claimed from the 40's, not the 20's. secondly your manipulation of the image
has produced jpeg artifacts, thats all. That guy is no more pixelated than anyone else im afraid. You are seeing what you want to see.

Go back and look at my lizard image and show me where its pixel rate changes to show its been shopped in to image?
