Looks like this could get interesting.

I notice you said yesterday that one of your dogs was acting up. How is she now?

I was writing up my post while you did yours...

EDIT: okay, as you've started a new thread for this 4.3, I'll move myself over there...

interesting this stronger quake activity occurs a day after sunspot 1158 starts spitting out M class flares at the Earth

Okay, so I said I would try and capture any auroras on film, and I might have gotten a little! It was cloudy, the moon was bright and I don't have a clear view of the north, but the clouds had a green tinge and it looks as if there's a little bit on the time-lapse. Now, I have seen the Northern Lights once before (around 95) and this was nothing like that time, I am SOOO hoping tomorrow night I will get to show my kids!

Here ya go:

Not much green in this one, but man is the night sky pretty!!!

In this shot, note the red line going across? Looked like an airplane...but I'll let ya all guess.

Okay...finally off to bed!

Helens is still grumbling....

And now Rainier looks to have had a decent size quake (thanks zenius for the heads up)

USGS has not reported this quake yet. Here is the best seismo to view it:

fixed...now it's too small..
Now we can all ponder if Mount Saint Helens triggered it, the solar activity, the moon.........

A helicopter ready 24/7 should come in "handy"...
That area was always unstable and prone to disaster...

Here's the latest list for the region. They have been back filling the list this morning and my guess is they aren't done yet, because they have yet to list anything for Rainier, when there was obviously a quake. Looks to be somewhere between 1.5-2.0.

I'm not sure. If it was extremely local to the seismo, perhaps it was an ice quake, so not reported on the normal list? I don't know enough about those though. It sure looked significant, but maybe it was misleading due to be soing close to the station. Let's wait and see if it shows up on Monday. (it's a holiday, so maybe tuesday?)

Currently the seismos aren't showing anything for the past six hours. I don't know what's up with PNSN, but I still can't pull up anything past 6hrs. Been like that for days now.

So I have to post this pic here for my friends up in this corner of the world. Just in case you didn't get a chance to see the perigee moon tonight:
(taken at the end of my street...I am blessed to be out in the county enough to get these shots

Your picture is very cool. If you haven't thought about already, you should consider sending that in to National Geo.
Very nice!

Thank you! I don't know if it would live up their standards (they set them pretty high), but it couldn't hurt!

We have a beautiful place, worth the hazards!

WELL.....we have been saying all this past year that this winter was going to be BAD. We had seemed to make it through though without any snow at all.....that was, until today. Now what else can I say? It is just easier to show you the pictures. Keep in mind, it is still snowing hard and is suposed to until tomorrow morning. With a high of 12 degrees forcast for tomorrow.

This is my full-size deisel Ram 2500 pick-up. High off the ground:

This is our jeep wranger. Well, what's left of it!!!

That's insane. I hope you've stocked up on supplies cos it doesn't look like you'll be going anywhere for a while.
Surely that can't do the cars much good.

Well, I'm kinda kicking myself because I did NOT stock up. I mean, we have plenty to get us through and I always keep the 5th wheel stocked with a week or two worth of non-perishables. If I had known that it was going to do this though, I would have made a big run to Costco! At least to have plenty of coffee and supplies!!
