Well, you ARE a religious person - you're quoting scripture at us on here, and we don't like it - so can it please. It's not the time or the place.

This event should scare you all into hiding under your bed - it shows the power of the media. It doesn't matter what is real, it all depends on what you are TOLD is real by the media.

Although I'm not sure I agree with cosmodromia tis parnasida, I agree that he/she should be able to interpret news events anyway that he/she sees fit - AND should be able to post them here - after all, that IS why we're here, is it not? As far as your comment - "you're quoting scripture at us on here, and we don't like it" - please speak only for yourself, your views are not mine and mine are not yours in all cases.

This isn't that much worse than us being panicked by the swine flu hoax into taking shots that will probably be bad for us. The level of government irresponsibility is about at orange. How did our governments become so irresponsible? Practice, practice, practice. How do people demand responsible behavior from their governments? Big government gets too much power to be controllable by the people. Add hacked voting machines to that.
People have to say what they expect of their government and not take anything else. That was what the Constitution was.
The government has had a lot of practice at abuse and we let them get away with it each time. Now it's become too big a bully for us to control. At least Georgia hasn't had any 911's. Their people can at least not expect to be corralled into fema camps soon. with gas chambers.

Good way to scare the local militias into reacting and using the existing intelligence networks to spy on them reacting to get a fix on the movements, the caches of weapons and how many bodies are actually there.

Very dirty tactics on there part. Let this be a lesson to anyone. Don't react to things that are unconfirmed and play your hand.

How can you define me as a religious person? because i quoted a writing from a book? the paragraph from the particular book describes wars and rumours of war doesnt it? Where i come from, the UK, if a government controlled news agency lies about an invasion of there country, we could define it as a rumour of war or am i too stupid and ignorant to be able to make this connection? IMO the whole thing just sounds like rumours of war and religion has nothing to do with it. Now if i said YHWH/jesus/jehovah/buddha/crishna/mohammed was behind the rumoured attack i might agree with you. Here in the UK we are allowed to quote any book that might have a link to the subject at hand (as long as we quote it)
Common sense is not so common. Voltaire (hope quoting Voltaire doesnt make me an atheist infidel now pmsl)

I was thinking a similar thing!

There is a lot of anti-government sentiment in Georgia, from what I've read anyway and I wouldn't be surprised if Saakashvili used this as a ploy to 'paint' possible resistance who thought this was real and 'showed there hand' as you put it.

Ooh, How very interesting.

Nino Burjanadze, an opposition politician who was among those the report claimed had joined forces with Russia, said the newscast was government-sponsored propaganda.

Burjanadze, who heads the Democratic Movement-United Georgia party, said: "This government's treatment of its own people is outrageous. I am sure that every second of this programme was agreed with Saakashvili. Many people suffered psychological trauma," she told the AFP news agency.

"Every word about me was malicious slander and I will sue both Imedi television and the authorities."

Government officials denied any advance knowledge of the report and denounced it as irresponsible.

Saakashvili added to the furore by appearing to defend the broadcast and by condemning Burjanadze's recent meetings in Moscow.

"It was indeed a very unpleasant programme but the most unpleasant thing is that it is extremely close to what can happen and to what Georgia's enemy has conceived," Saakashvili said in televised remarks.

"Those who are shaking hands with people who have Georgian blood on their hands will never be respected."

english.aljazeera.net...

The report actually claimed that the opposition parties were helping the Russians invade!!! This right after they had flew to Russia to speak with Putin and discussed 'restoring ties' with each other.

He even clarifies his position (see bold above), he believes, or is at least pressing the point that his opposition is in league with Russia!

This was seriously thought out, the actual news preceding this paints it perfectly, looks like were not the only thinking this way either.

Russian NATO ambassador Dmitry Rogozin stated that the fake news report may have the intention to create an atmosphere of paranoia in order to sway public opinion in favor of another war in South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

“This isn’t just another Georgian act of provocation – it’s a huge provocation that will leave a mark on the public opinion in Georgia,” Rogozin told RT. “They’re trying to create an image of Russia as a permanent enemy of Georgia, and create a tense situation on its borders with South Ossetia and Abkhazia. This report is just part of the information war Mikhail Saakashvili has been waging. It’s part of state propaganda to promote a new war. Of course, Saakashvili knew about preparations for this report. The Imedi channel is controlled by the Georgian government, so this couldn’t have been done without his blessing. It’s a well-planned act aimed at scheming new armed conflicts in the Caucasus region.”

www.globalcrisisnews.com...=1460/

Permanent enemy? Sound familiar.

The report resulted in one woman dying of a heart attack.

One confirmed casualty apparently. Which is man slaughter at the very least.

Also, why was Al Jazeera top for my google search? lol

it's funny so what, who cares about third world countries anyway, it's their business what happens...

I personally could care less if Russia DID do it for real again...

From what I understand of the situation, this was a deliberate ploy to tar opposition (pro-Russia) politicians as potential traitors. Fortunately, no one here would ever accuse a politician of being a traitor, or palling around with terrorists or... never mind.

This is insane, considering the uneasy relationship between Russia and Georgia over South Ossetia, and the conflict from 2008. They said that it was a scenario and work of fiction at the start of the broadcast, but if you missed that as I am sure many had, it would spurn panic. It is irresponsible on the part of this major news station to rattle the public so much about a hoax. Someone already mentioned Orson Well's famous "War of the Worlds," radio broadcast which had the American people believing martians were obliterating mankind, and it is eerily similar.

Then it said the major news corporations in Georgia are federalized, and that means they get their scripts from President Mikheil Saakashvilli. This man must be behind this, and is only stoking the paranoia held by his people toward the Russians. It has the hallmarks of a "Wag the dog," scenario.

To 'wag the dog' means to purposely divert attention from what would otherwise be of greater importance, to something else of lesser significance. By doing so, the lesser-significant event is catapulted into the limelight, drowning proper attention to what was originally the more important issue.

www.usingenglish.com...

So, this could be a dry run to test the peoples response in the case of a legitimate or illegitimate national emergency. Some have said it may be a foreshadowing of dictatorial powers being taken by President Saakashvilli and potential martial law. Now they know what to expect from the people in the event such measures are taken. In other words it will make the process much more streamlined and efficient, because they know what makes the people tick. They could even go so far as to conduct a false flag and throw the country into chaos. There is something about Saakashvilli that concerns me. Just his mannerisms after seeing him on the TV during the war and after, he seems a little unhinged by the he way presents himself in public. Such as wandering eyes, jubilant nature in the middle of a war zone, and the infamous tie chewing affair. Does anyone else get that vibe about him?

(watch his eyes at the start of this interview and listen to the impish laugh)

The examples above show what I am talking about, and in my opinion, he seems nuttier than a jar of peanut butter? That is my opinion of the man. Back to the the topic, this man should have the program director removed from his position at this news station. Then, he ought to make a public apology to the Georgian people as President and head of the federalized news system in Georgia. That is the least he can do to bring some closure to this catastrophic failure in judgment by the Georgian media.

Yeah this is just it, the media over hear is so controlled and edited, the only legit news sources seem to be the smaller and underground news sources who aren't controlled by big corporations. They certainly are no watch dogs on our gov they are attack dogs on the people and the truth.

Everyone is calling this guy a nutcase but it is the US who placed him there and it is the us who is pulling his strings. One of US’s plans to isolate Russia.

But just like they lost Ukraine they will lose Georgia as well unless they start sending allot of aid and supporting them more.

People forget that before even US existed Russia was influencing the region and as a Christian nation that was the most powerful and closest to Armenia and Georgia it was actively helping them to fight off the Turks.
No matter how much they change the government there is a historical friendship amongst the people of those nations. Take any history book and you will see that Georgians, Armenians and Russians always held high and important positions at different times in each other’s government. Uncle Joe was Georgian, The famous Mig was named after the creator Migoyan and so on.

Good find, my friend;

Internos, this may very well be a test to see how the populace will indeed react to a false flag attack in an isolated area; considering the different threads and discussions about topics such as Project BlueBeam and others, it does make one ponder...

Star and Flag for you; it will be interesting to follow this and see what else may pop up on the event horizon...

Saakashvilli certainly has some mental issues. I don't know about his intelligence, but his behavior is very child-like sometimes, and in many cases not situation appropriate. I think his mental state has been questioned by some medical experts from Europe.

Here are a few more of his gems:

That station is very closely aligned with the government, and is considered to be government run. Its director is a personal friend of Saakashvili, and was previously a politician who helped Saakashvili get a grip on power. There is simply no way that Saakashvili was not made aware of the broadcast. As such there are unlikely to be actual consequences - maybe some low level manager will get sacked just for show.

Saakashvili should make an apology for returning to Georgia from the US in the first place, and for taking power through an organized coup. The man has been nothing but trouble from the first day. I can only imagine what opposition he has in the country, since he arrested, liquidated or deported the most vocal opponents.

There is no independent Georgian media. It is all controled by the government. The decision for this broadcast was made by somebody in the government, not by the media.

Me too. I completely thought that all the people from the Georgia in the US were ignoring their team in the ACC championship and rallying in the streets about tanks on the other side of the world, which would be a sort of cool thing. But, the same ethnocentric ideas I thought they had surpassed, allowed me to totally not give creedence to the real happening. I know a bit about the nation of Georia, but I completely dropped the ball this time

On the OP's note; (as mentioned earlier by There Once Was Man)I think this could easily start a war or at least a nasty brawl. I remember the stories about people suiciding and running wild in the streets when the "War of the Worlds" radio program was broadcast in 1938. There is quite a parallel.

People get arrested for joking about bombs on airplanes and the like.

Shouldn't the same rules apply to media corporations?

...But, I'm thinking they're making a case to censor the Internet - as in, "See what can happen when there aren't any rules?"

What motive would any body have to do such a thing?

As if actual war is not enough, people have to be afraid of false reports of invasion as well. What is the point?

It sounds like the shock treatment to me. Remember when gas prices in the United States was around $5/gallon in some places? It seems to me like people with the ability to do so will push the public and push and push just to see how we will react and then back off.

Well, Georgia wouldn't even have t worry about a Russian invasion if they didn't take potshots across the border, steal money from Russian social services and send it out of the country, immigrate illegally to run no-tax street shops, and run organized crime rings in Russian cities.

Why bring religion into this discussion? It has no place in this topic - none whatsoever. Unless that is, you're a fundie trying to proselytize 'under the radar'.

The topic is a cracking one, with lots of angles to explore - so let stick at it eh? No need to railroad it into a scripture-fest.

Whats your thoughts on this subject without the religious aspect? I'm genuinely curious in a nice constructive way.
