Of course nothing came out. Comets are mostly ice and dust.

I was expecting a huge flare. Unless it was made out of some light material?
Do you have any idea of the comets size?

That comet looked huge , was there any report as to the size of the thing ?
2010/02/17 13:19 Solar output is darkened by a factor of at least 3. Cause undetermined
2010/02/22 07:19 Solar brightness briefly multiplied by at least a factor of 100 in intensity. Large magnetic filament is seen spanning sun from center to some location underneath sun.
2010/02/28 07:19 Solar brightness AGAIN intensifies by at least a factor of 2
2010/03/08 01:19 Image of sun is blackened - most likely due to lens being hit by CME, temporarily blinding the camera.

If you look in the looped video the OP posted, the first 'comet' that hit the Sun seemed to trigger the CME, the second (bright) projectile was almost on the same line/path.
I wish I knew how to take the photo and draw a line, but they look like the exact same vector to the naked eye. Which then makes me think weird things.

Not an expert but Im enjoying this thread.
I dont think it is growing. A comet has a tail as the sun melts the ice from it.
It would make sence that the ice will melt faster as it gets closer to the sun, therefore the tail gets much bigger and makes it look like its growing.
It also mean it will burn up completely once it hits the corona which is 1mil degrees. It will not effect the sun at all.
