Second moderator plea on behalf of chat.

Mutter is fun, but chat is simply existential!

My vote goes for IRC room(s).

1. It is possible to embed an irc web client easily to a website(ats), which would auto-join to the chatroom.

2. It would allow those already irc users to use their chat clients to connect. (my guess that there are many irc users visiting ats regularly, that wouldn't consider visiting ats web chat, but would definetely consider it if it was run on irc server)

I guess ATS should create their own IRC Network for it if they decided to go that way, as someone mentioned on the first page..

Creating a room/channel on one of the existing networks wouldn't make it particularly official I guess..

I wholeheartedly agree. I'm a chatoholic and would hate to see chat disappear!

Chat is one of the ONLY reasons i continue to visit ATS. I've grown to know some chatters and they have become dear friends, if chat were to go, then i'm sorry to say, you may lose this ATSer

most of us have grown addicted to chat.

have to ever seen people going through withdrawal? its not pretty.

imagine 30 addicts with no secret stash.

mutter just doesn't cut it.

it is the ugly step cousin of chat.

If it were not for chat, I would not have had any personal interactions with any other members here. Some of my favorite posters use chat, and I have learned so much from all of them, and it really helps to get to know one another in a real time setting. I mean, i know I most likely come off as a total b***h, but those in chat (^^) know I'm just really really sarcastic! They get me! Without chat, other members will never get a chance to make those relationships at that level. Please don't get rid of it

chat is one of the most usefull tools on ATS...most chatters keep ATS/BTS open and going so we -in chat can discuss the topics and even come up with new topics.

But yes its a great place to get ideas bouncing around to keep the below par threads to a minimum...

PLEASE DON'T REMOVE CHAT>>>>PLEASE!

ETA:::::: I VOTE TO KEEP CHAT

I would like to see ATS keep chat as well.

Interacting with people in a "live" setting really gives you an opportunity to get to know someone on a level better than just reading an emotionless post.

Some people that i didn't care for in the threads have turned out to be some pretty great folks in chat.

Heres my thought ... Dont do it Please NOooooo
It gives ATS a more home like feeling to be able to meet new people here and to discuss threads & posts and current news in a more detailed way. I have been to mutter, it is not that I dislike that function. But it does not quite give us the full option of open discussion like that of a chat room. After having my 200 posts I could not wait to go to the chat room because it was there that the kind people in the ATS chat room filled me in on ATS..in general we talk about new threads and old posts. Share music, and different issues that often lead someone saying oh you should post that. Sometimes a person will not know enough to make a post but through discussion in the chat room someone else will step up and make the post.. Sharing new Idea's with great minds where we can focus better through a more personal manor in a chat room is what my point is all about.

Just giving this thread another quick bump

....and to say i don't see why chat should go, I mean so many people use it every single day and they all enjoy using it, like some have said, it's one of the reasons they keep coming back and for others it's a motivation to keep posting to reach the 200 posts to access chat.

Mutter doesn't compare.

I vote chat stays!

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

I don't see any reason to keep chat when mutter does the exact same thing.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

When you go into chat, and you start to type and enter your convo, it pops up just like that. Mutter on the other hand, takes to long for convos to pop up, gets to cluttered. And if a bunch of peoploe are tying and talking at once, it takes way to long for your stuff to come up in the box. It is actually quite annoying. just saying..

Ok you log in with your same username and password and you also need 200 posts which you don't have yet.

So you need to post a bit more.
