Would House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her fellow House Democratic leaders try to cram the Senate version of Obamacare through the House without actually having a recorded vote on the bill?
Not only is the answer yes, they would, they have figured out a way to do it, according to National Journal's Congress Daily:
"House Rules Chairwoman Louise Slaughter is prepping to help usher the healthcare overhaul through the House and potentially avoid a direct vote on the Senate overhaul bill, the chairwoman said Tuesday.
"Slaughter is weighing preparing a rule that would consider the Senate bill passed once the House approves a corrections bill that would make changes to the Senate version.
"Slaughter has not taken the plan to Speaker Pelosi as Democrats await CBO scores on the corrections bill. 'Once the CBO gives us the score, we'll spring right on it,' she said."
Each bill that comes before the House for a vote on final passage must be given a rule that determines things like whether the minority would be able to offer amendments to it from the floor.
In the Slaughter Solution, the rule would declare that the House "deems" the Senate version of Obamacare to have been passed by the House. House members would still have to vote on whether to accept the rule, but they would then be able to say they only voted for a rule, not for the bill itself.
Slaughter is one of the most liberal members of the New York congressional delegation from upstate New York, and in the 110th Congress (2007-2008), was the most liberal member of the entire House of Representatives according to National Journal. Indeed, among Congressmen from upstate, only fellow Democrat Maurice Hinchey has a lower lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union. She is one of several Democratic congressmen and senators who post at Daily Kos, a Democratic-oriented blog. She is also a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
In early 2005, she authored the Fairness and Accountability in Broadcasting Act, or FAB Act, which would reinstate the Fairness Doctrine, which has been criticized as an attempt to silence religious and conservative broadcasters.

Pelosi wouldn't cheat like that, would she?
If this were to happen, can't the Supreme Court step in at some point?

I can't imagine that this 'solution' would pass Constitutional muster. Then again, their health care plan probably wouldn't either, so I guess this is a perfect match made in hell.
I wonder if these idiots realize that one day, they'll be in the minority again, and if they're successful in circumventing the process in this way, it'll be used against them one day soon when they're in the minority themselves.

c'mon...you think the republicans want to make sure the poor in this country get medical coverage?? they had 6 years from 2000 to 2006 to do this...i guess they don't care about poor americans...and you want them BACK IN POWER?...right....sure...yeah, good idea...
The President has vowed that the health reform process will be different in his Administration – an open, inclusive, and transparent process where all ideas are encouraged and all parties work together to find a solution to the health care crisis.
