i think metros in a sense have always been around, in the teens and twenties many men were into looking good and primp, why not, its a confidence builder to feel good, i understand a bit narcissistic but so what, if you cant love yourself who can you love?

i think the OP is just really put off by anyone who is different from him or from things he doesnt understand

I would like to believe the strick training of armed forces and being engaged in armed combat would change peoples focus.

I have a hard time believing that while taking enemy fire, the man to your left would be worried about the crimps in his hair, or the lack of crimps in yours.

With that said, I have no combat experience so i dont know the reality. But homosexuals have been allowed in the armed forces for a while now, right? How do they act when taking enemy fire? If they can pull themselves together and act accordingly to the situation, im sure metro's will be just fine.

What the hell? Y'know, even back in the day there were people with really flamboyant fashion sense. Hell, it was even worse back then. Men in goddamn tights...

Still, even with the fruity dress sense and custom of the old days, we still have the ability to fight. Just because a few people take an obsessive amount of pride in their appearance doesn't mean that the world is going to turn into some place with emasculated men that will end up wanting to sleep with each other.

Besides, I'm more concerned with the amount of college bros in your military. Yeah, the ones that think with their dick rather than their brain.

There is nothing wrong with shaving off ONE eyebrow. Something like that doesn't make you a fancy boy nearly as much as it makes you look like you are loosing your mind. What is more intimidating then a crazy man with a gun?

Metrosexual as a word never made much sense. Who decided we needed a derogatory term for materialistic narcissist? Was that not bad enough?

There is keeping up appearances because society dictates you must (for a job, for courting a sezzy lady, etc)... but I won't deny there's a line just beyond that where it becomes a narcissistic obsession.

This OP struck me as particularly funny though.. having played sports in high school and college... some of the most athletic and most competitive dudes I've ever met... we're total metrosexuals! I can tell you not once did anyone call a TO to pluck their brows or called for a sub because their eye black smeared or something else. In the weight room, at practice, during games... they were the guys Mr. Sunshine want us all to be lol. But then these same dudes would spend 2 hours grooming and primping before going out that night to a bar..

So from the get go, Mr Sunshine... what you're describing doesn't, and won't, happen in the real world.... (even as much as you've thought about it lol)

There's already a large number of metrosexuals in the military. I can remember guys at Fort Hood getting manicures.

The military to an extent kind of encourages it, especially before we switched over to ACUs. Back when people still wore BDUs and black boots it was very prevalent. People were obsessed with having a perfect crisp uniform and mirror shined boots. People would bring two pairs of boots to work, one for the motorpool and another for formations.

There is still an obessession over hair and the silly things people do with mustaches.

Oh and don't get me started on the guys who obsessively go to the gym togther, shower together and sometimes massage each other. Many of these guys are married and sometimes have kids. If you accused them of being gay they would kill you.

So its already in the military.

Remember the military is made up of the average population.

I read your post and i am totally agree with you and liked your post very much. It is very interesting to read and also the given links.
