Yeah it's pretty amazing how the unemployed are getting arse fooked while the rich scum on Wallstreet are getting fat bonuses after getting bailed out. I agree with the principal behind Bunning's blockage and resistance. Seems like a damned if you do damned if you don't situation.

I will say this though...........our country cannot continue down the path that it is on. Tough decisions like this are going to have to be made. However, tough decisions need to be made ACROSS THE BOARD! You can't punish the citizenry while billion dollar wars are raging, the government employees are getting huge pensions and salaries, WallStreet is getting bailed out left and right etc. It's ridiculous and it's what's going to start a real revolution......and a violent one. But that's what this country needs in my opinion. We need some of these politicians like Pelosi, and these traitors to fear for their lives. After all isn't that what the Founding Father's wanted............fear the people not the people to fear their government. Well it usually takes the threat of violence to instill fear in people. You think people like Nancy Pelosi and the other flops on Capitol Hill care about protests and marches and tea parties? Heck no! When someone threatens violence against someone else is when that person pays attention. Tar and feathering of the 21st century needs to happen to these politicians. Government has become so incompetent it's disgusting.

And if the FBI, CIA, Secret Service and local police forces think they can stop angry well armed Americans pissed off at their government they better take a lesson in American history. We took on the British and we sure as hell can take on the status quo if need be. It's just a matter of collective thought and organization. I wouldn't want to be on the side of the government in any way shape or form if a revolution broke out.

Were this the case (and assuming that everyone in question has any sort of right or claim to increased unemployment benefits), we would be looking at a clear cut case of abuse of power.

However, what most fail to notice is that Sen. Bunning isn't "filibustering" or even really holding anything up; he's simply requesting a debate.

"Tough sh*t is NOT a request for furthering debate. It's telling the american citizens who lost their jobs due to the stupidity and greed of Corporations, those citizens can burn in hell for all he and whom he represents would care.

Continue with the spin doctoring, and see how far you will go. Those infamous words in these present difficult times by that crass of inhumans will forever be remembered.

Buddy, Reid chose to try to pass this bill as a 'unanimous consent' bill. Meaning one person could hold it up. Listen to the debate. Its that Reid and Obama PROMISED to make pay-go legislation and to not add too the deficit in spending bills such as this one. They just promised that last week. Now they are immediately going against that. Reid could have put this through normal voting channels and past it, but he didn't want to do that since it would require all these Senators going on record a foregoing their pay-go promises not even one week after it was promised. Bunning isn't saying 'screw all of you poor, I don't care about you', he saying to find the money to pay for this. Regardless, it is getting a bit out of control when this many people are dependent on govt for all things. That has to change.

I loved his comment about missing a big game, just to do this...

Wah....

What an arse...

I guess that's what happens when you don't have to worry about re-election.

How about we freeze his Senate retirement? After all, it just increases the deficit....

Sorry, but I'm sure we could find some $400 hammers to cut out of the budget, if it came to it...

Yes, I realize it isn't an entitlement, but you have to have some kind of income to get back on your feet, and if people can't pay their bills, and last until landing a job, then the whole deal goes right down the crapper.

Who the hell cares about healthcare, when you can't even afford your rent or power?

Dumb dumb dumb....

Honestly, I have not read the full thing.

This I consider a cheap shot but here goes.

1) to my fellow americans in kentucky...

YOU VOTED HIM IN

2)now once you admit that first sin it can be worked with from there. From here you have to responses available

a) the path of violence-
need I say more

b) get him convicted of a crime before he resigns-

dont accept him resigning go after him- get him dishonored and thrown out-]

3)either way I have learned that in the end your lazy and will let him get away with it

if found guilty of a crime he might walk
if he is in jail- when he gets out he will still get a check as a former us senator

he still might go into the hall of fame

Now what I would do-
press him on the commission of a crime- make it up if I had to

file a class action lawsuit against him as an individual-

get him dishonorably recalled- run his name through the mud....

one of the unemployed need to be ran against him now so he can be recalled-

Make his restitution more then any amount he recieves from his senate retirement.

in the end heres how its going to go down- he retires successfully and becomes a speaker for the republicans-

Why because my fellow americans wont do a thing about it

Hmmm that is a good idea all of them should have salary cuts a least right? What is going on here if you are rich they will make you richer but if your jobless you are screwed.

I think they need to remember we are not talking about career bum's these are people who have worked and worked hard and have their jobs outsourced or cut. They will rise again and when they do this nation will change. If unemployment stops it is the straw that breaks the camels back I am sure of it. These are not homeless people they will not just sit back and let it happen.

Jus t how does one man stop unemployment payments to so many people?
How do you get that kind of power?

Funding for doctors working on programmes for the poor, unemployment benefit for a million people and payment for cable television in the countryside will also be affected.

A MILLION people!!!

That's an awful lot of hungry mouths... possibly soon to become homeless too...

I am stunned that this has been allowed to happen. I am currently working full time yet struggling. Most of my wage goes on just my rent. My heart and mind reaches out to those who are about to suffer immensely.

One month of non payment seems to be on the ropes right now and to change this action is going to take time, they say..

How long? A month? Two months? Three?

Or will this have a knock on effect and even more payments will be stopped? Are we going to see riots or protests or something more severe?

An army marches on its stomach as Napolean once commented.
A million people planning a protest march wont be going if they are hungry.

What with the trouble in Greece and the drop in value in the British pound yesterday, are we going to see this spread across Europe now? Is this 'idea to save the economy' going to mothball into something much larger and more sinister?

Is this the start of 'refuge camps' that are under government control?

You know where I'm going with this...

Good luck to all those who are affected by this. I hope you can find some food for you and yours.

Is this the start to DEPOPULATING AMERICANS!!! People of Today/ Tomorrow and the Future /WE ALL need to PREPARE for FOOD & WATER/ STORAGE. DON'T DELAY! Think of it as an Insurance Policy!!!

Look, I have nothing to gain by being rude here, so I'll ask: do you have any clue as to how Senate procedure works?

The Senator had a valid point as to funding of this initiative; the fact that he was not adamantly against deficit spending in the past does not change the validity of his point today. Appeals to emotion (thousands out of work and near starvation! etc), though moving, don't do a whole lot for me. Living in Southeast Michigan, I've seen it all.

And again, if this extension of benefits was so crucial to the well-being of those who who are unemployed, it never should have been handled by unanimous consent—a procedure where just one ornery Senator can gum up the whole process.

Where is the President?

He is in my city messing up traffic flow and eating at the most expensive resturant, Lady and Sons, hob knobbing with Paula Dean about fine dining, he can't worry about what a million people are gonna eat... He is to busy deciding steak or fish.....

Yeah, he doesn't have to worry himself. He's got a few million stacked away.

I hate all this deficit spending we are doing with his pay though.

Why doesn't he protest his pay each day?

Why freeze unemployment, why not freeze the aid going to other countries until our own backyard is taken care of. Cut back on funding for wars etc.

It makes no sense to me that the US gives and gives to other countries that need aid, I do not mind as much, but what I do mind is when you take US Citizens unemployment wadges to help the deficit while continuing to aid other countries is completely backwards.

After all those unemployed had a job, its not like they are just collecting unemployment wadges. To my knowledge you have to have worked a certain amount of time in order to even qualify for unemployment.

So you have millions of people who were paying taxes, taxes that went all over the place for to many things to mentions (yes its ridiculous how taxed the US is).

Since they payed in, now they are without aid. Complete BS.

Way to cut off the hand that feeds...

I wonder how long before this country says enough is enough and takes a stand.

funny it appears you've just read the republican party's platform as of late... too bad the dems wanna move to the other extreme and want to tax you even more to give everyone else from your hard work. we need a balance between these ideas...

i assume we need to start closing mil bases in other countries and pulling out of a few wars, repealing some of the tax cuts for companies that outsource jobs overseas. that would be just some ways of fixing our problems...

but i have to give it to the guy, he just loves to be against everybody!

As Harry Reid would say, "stop the crying."

Look, you want to spend $10 billion, then find out how to pay for it.

Paygo

Just a month ago, Dems were chiding Repubs about this. Now you have one guy who dares to make this reality and you're screamin?!

And for those say, how can one man have this much power? Bullocks! The Dems have all the power right now and have threatened to use procedural tactics to their advantage to pass health care which dwarfs this. But, that is o.k.

A friend of mine were talking and we agreed that politics never really matters until it is all about me. And I can tell from the slant of some of these posts that this hits home in a big way, so NOW? this is a major issue worthy of your complaints?

America is busted, broke, bankrupt, etc. We have NO MONEY to pay for this. Tell you what, you want it, then cut $10 billion somewhere else to pay for it.

Ever see the movie 'Dave'?

Just because I believe one thing does not mean I believe another. I hate when I am boxed in I believe you should always not matter what take it issue by issue. I also don't believe in the death penalty and I believe in welfare for the poor. You should never judge a person until you get the whole picture. This is a tough one for me also but I am working on it.

Thanks for the link to the Paygo article.

What do ya wanna bet that there will be some Senators running for re-election in the fall saying..."My vote helped pass Paygo!".

They will conveniently forget to say that it means nothing.
