IOW, the force of the explosion, will not only go in one direction. The wave *may* be disrupted by the force of the blast, but the blast will cause another Tsunami racing towards the shore!

It's a bit like pouring petrol onto a burning building, reasoning the petrol will burn the combustibles in the building faster, and hence starve the fire of any further fuel, and putting the fire out!
