From that webcam GEL provided on the far left side of that island you can clearly see the water rising and then dropping again every now and then.

Also the rocks to the far right are apearing and dissapearing.

Also the water is getting faster as well and then calming down so alot of changes.

Also at this moment in time the water is looking incredibly fast.

The water level in the stream you posted has substantially receded... do know where that cam is located in Hawaii?

It is Hilo Bay, Northeast Big Island...

3 feet, isn't that basically like high tide? So this could be nothing.

It is 3 feet right now... unfortunately the activity has really only just begun.

From the cam shots that are being shown , every time the water recedes out and comes back in it is with much more force than it was the time before.

That is what makes a phenomenon of this nature so dangerous... it happens over time, not just all at once.

Nothing wrong with being optimistic.. I hope that nothing devastating happens either.

Honestly, I do think there will be some inundation of water coming into areas directly on the coast.. but I do not think it is going to be a major event such as the 2004 tsunami.

I just don't want to detract from the situation... these things can surprise you on a seconds notice.

looks like its calming down - the surfers are trying to go out !!

Hope there is nothing hidden to come.

I have to be honest but if you have ever seen the seven bore this wasn't much to look at!

The island in that cam shot IS going to be completely covered within the next 20-30 minutes.

Every time the water comes back in it is rising at least 2 feet. I will not be surprised if the water gets high enough to reach the top of that bridge as well.

The Geophys guy Gerard Friar seems to disagree with you - the third wave is certainly not that much higher - unless its a rogue

I was watching the feed and checking out the bouy data and I found this data from one that is off the coast of Japan. It looks like a 18 foot Tsunami maybe hitting Japan, soon!

Bouy Data off coast of Japan

Unless I am reading something wrong and I notice the Ocean is very deep . . . stay tune!

Now I know why why CNN is lagging in ratings. The tsunami threat is over. They are still going on about it. OH the poor tourists who were scared and had children and how do they know when they can go back. Oh the poor tourist who has been to Hawaii 6 times just wanted to spend the day at the beach and not in evacuation.

Ok, the tsunami threat is over. Now lets go back to the real travesty which is the 200 people who have been killed in the Chili earthquake.

Pic of the Bridge

We all saw the rise and fall of the wave at Hilo - pal of mine just posted a pic to me that really gives some scale (this was during a vacation trip not now) - thought you might like to see it
