, dont worry about the questions, I enjoy answering them. we all have to start somewhere with everything in life. No, you can keep your existing
Windows programs and files and put Linux on your computer and when you start your computer, you can choose which one you want to boot into. The
program you use is called WINE for Linux at www.winehq.com it allows you to access your Windows files from your Linux operating system and you can in
most cases install Windows only programs with WINE on your Linux side. Does that make sense? In essence, you can completely avoid having to use MS.
The features that are available in Linux are far superior in quality i.e. no crashing, NO REBOOTING!!, few if no hangs. The list goes on and on. I
could sit and talk about how great it is for hours. But the easiest thing to do would be to download and try it. For Mandrake Linux, it allows you
to download the full thing and run it off of cd to try it out and see if it's something you like. Let me tell you guys that if you dont like some of
the monopolistic practices of MS then this is the way to go. For me it's a matter of principle that I use it.
feel free to U2U me if you have any more questions.
