Yes they have the fancy weapons...but history has shown us..Superior numbers is the key. Now look at that number of troops. Not all are actual fighting soldiers.
Then remember all of these soldiers have family as well and took an oath to uphold the Constitution. So to many of you poser Anarchist...Martial Law just is not gonna happen.It would be suicide for the military and the politicians,and elite.

Good advice and I am to some point prepared but to really be 100% alright calls for a major life change would you say it is time for that and why. I believe things I can see and I just don't see it to the degree others do and I wonder why. What am I missing or what are the missing. I wish I had more answers than questions at this point. I thought something might happen last fall but it didn't and now I am almost apathetic towards it.

So you find a handful of troops in your country disturbing, but have nothing to say about BATALLIONS of your own countrys troops all over the world.

Now you may get a slight feeling how uncomfortable the world feels about your troops presence on theri territories, when there even isnt a reason to be there

I live in Germany amongst Germans anfd can tell you that is not true.
Germans HAVE to be oppressed, they love it. Its really scary, They "consumed" themselves into submission. As long the i-Pod is working all is well.
In only 20 years almost any protest movement of the 80ies seized to exist. Germans became once again followers, who wont raise a finger unless their superior says so.
A german will always call some kind of authority (always someone who stands above him) to solve a problem, you very seldomly will find someone who deals with a problem himself.

Germany has become little America but without the paranoia...yet.

Well...there has always been that question of, would American soldiers fire upon civilians protecting their constitutional rights. I guess this would resolve THAT issue.

Rediculous. Military personnel operate throughout the world. I have many friends in the armed forces, they are currently in Afghanistan, Germany, Canada and the US. The one in the US is SAS. He's there training US special forces. Don't ask me where though, he can't tell me any greater depth of detail.

I saw a couple of US soldiers walking through Birmingham the other day. Are the US going to invade us?

I have followed this website a long time and felt the need to make my first post.

First off...I have been a Police Officer for 4 years, served in the infantry for 4 years and have a Bachelors Degree in Science. During my career as a cop I have had 3 chiefs. 2 of them leaving on short notice for other careers. If you widen the range to our county which contains several departments.....in the last 4 years I would say the county and surrounding towns has had close to 6 chiefs or sheriffs come and go in 4 years. It is suprising to me that it is only 50 chiefs on that list......think....every city most likely has a chief or sheriff. Thats alot cheifs and sheriffs.

Now on the of civil unrest issue: I have seen nothing of it....I will say people do seem more desperate on the streets these days. I recently attended a class in which a 40 year veteran of Law Enforcement stated he has never seen the job market so bad for police. Lay offs are happening left and right and from my understanding police are usually the last to go. My department has experienced no such layoffs luckily. I think we are a long way from national civil unrest. There is little evidence that I have seen and im in the middle of it every day.

I know nothing about business and CEOs so I can not comment on that.

As for foreign trooops.......foreign troops are everywhere being trained with us. In my 4 years I have seen soliders from probably over 30 nations training with us. And as far as the germans go...their military is a long way from battle ready. Their soliders are conscripts led some of the most amazing NCOs you will meet, but they don't have the heart yet. It is normal for soliders to cross train and even cross work.... remember when Germany and France said they wouldn't help us in Iraq publicly? Instead the Germans took over our base security at most of the American bases in Germany...what that did was free up our soliders to be deployed and Germany then didn't have to face public outcry for supporting the war. I wouldnt worry about this issue...lot of fine soliders are tired from multiple deployments and a few ALLIED soliders over here is a great welcome and a great way to culturally cross train.

Sorry not trying to sound conceded or anything I just felt this is one of the few topics I had some experience with......oh and its nice to meet all of you I really enjoy the site

As far as the police chiefs resigning is concerned, I wonder if they've been threatened in order to get rid of them. If martial law is coming down the pike, then the military won't want sherriffs who take their responsibilities seriously.

In a lot of police departments your retirement is based on the last position held. Has anyone thought that maybe these police were taking the position to get into a higher retirement bracket, then leaving to retire?

The belief that foreign troops would/could/will be used to institute martial law in the USA stems from a failure to think the scenario through & insular myopia. To whit:
1) How many troops would it take to corral a populous of 300 million, many armed & plenty with enough weapons to lend to friends & neighbours?
2) What would be the reaction of many gun-toting Americans to a significant presence of foreign troops during a time of civil unrest?
3) If the US economy does crash so badly that critical needs such as food, drinking water, power, heating oil, gasoline or medicines do become interrupted, to the point of widespread civil unrest, what will be going on in the rest of the world?
4) Why would any govt commit troops that would be needed at home to an impossible & needlessly dangerous task in the USA?
5) In fact, the only countries with sufficient military force to even attempt such a task on a limited scale have far more to gain by letting y'all destroy yourselves...

Sure, no problem. Some years ago in the US, Ross Perot spoke of a "giant sucking sound" as jobs were lost in the US due to all the new trade agreements. Years passed, nothing happened. But now we can see the jobs lost, and yes you can hear the giant sucking sound.

People who say there will be martial law in the US are "early adopters" of information, kinda like people who are early adopters of new technology. Who was the first person you knew who bought a vcr or a cell phone. Fortunately, in the US the response is usually late, so people won't have to suffer too long.

I am in germany at the moment-They are right actually..The german goverment has a contract with the us government, to aid them in the hour of martial law-

This shouldn't be a discussion about IF, but a discussion about WHEN and WHAT. I don't think we're in imminent danger of martial law but we're also not going to witness any imminent turnaround in the economy. There will be a bottom to this fall where the people will revolt - history provides this lesson.

Now, another important question is "Will martial law work against US citizens?" My intitial thoughts are "NO!" Just as the Japanese Emporor stated when asked if he planned to invade America - No, there would be a citizen with a gun behind every blade of grass!

Most US Military would have no part in it and I don't believe that any foreign country would be dumb enough to send their young folks over here to be killed. In fact, I don't think those young folks would be dumb enough to obey the order to come here and be killed.

All of that said - the elites ARE stupid enough to try to pull it off though. And when they do... well, that will be the day that the sun will begin to rise on America once again.
