Wrong. It could be done in the name of HOMELAND SECURITY...or PROTECTION OF OUR CORPORATE INSTITUTION...AKA THE GOVERNMENT....that's where UN troops fit in. Our Police forces would face some dissension, and desertion. Those who stood up for our rights will be labeled as TERRORISTS and TRAITORS!

You need bullets to be able to use a gun. All the government has to do is clamp down and control the sale of ammo in the US. Although corrupt and tyrannical the people running our country are not stupid. They are cunning and crafty.

True, you need bullets. Many people have stock piled several thousand rounds just for the possible occasion. Besides, like Sam Elliot said in We were Soldiers, when it comes time for me to need a rifle, there'll be plenty layin around. That goes for ammo also.

No, it isn't wrong just because you think it is, as much as you think that americans are completely reliant upon their government, there are quite a few, as evidenced by the soaring gun sales, who do NOT trust the government, and would fight back if the government did come to take their guns in the name of homeland security.

Okay, then let's say you are right....peaceful means leading to us turning in all guns....only if they pull off something that will make 9/11 pale in comparison...and by they I mean TPTB.

hippomchippo, we cannot turn in the guns for ANY reason.

If they come for our guns it is over for them it is just that simple. They are not even close to the point they could do this and they know it. Even a large event would not give them the leverage to do it. The day the start to round up guns is the day they seal there own doom.

Are you trying to say that I support the gun grab?
The only gun-grab I support is one where guns are simply not bought by the people, not forcing them not to buy guns.

Every week or two there seems to be some hubbub about them coming to take our guns.

I have very serious doubts that even this government would sign anything the hands our guns rights away. We don't have to agree, we don't have to follow, and we don't have to care what the UN says.

International law and treaties have no real binding power unless some other nations want to push the issue with us using military force (which they don't for good reason).

As stupid and domineering as our government is becoming, one thing about strong governments/dictatorships/monarchies that is commonly ignored, is that they are not suicidal.

IF, something like this comes to pass and the US government attempts this for any reason, it will not matter what the President says about the Constitution, it will not matter how the Supreme Court interprets the Constitution, and it doesn't matter how Congress legislates against the Constitution.

They will quickly find out, that what matters is how the Constitution is read by those behind the door of the house they are walking up to.

I wouldn't want to be them.

Until this has any real meat to it, it's much ado about nothing.

You are correct, it is every week or two...and in between as well. The rhetoric on both sides continues. My original thought here was to inform, obviously we can all draw our own conclusions.

Ask yourself though...if you were them...wouldn't you be scheming something up? Some plan to disarm?

I'll say it again, now to you.

I hope you are right friend.

Sorry, this wasn't aimed at you. I was just commenting on the frequency and the fervor over a topic I find to be generally still relatively safe.

I already think I know the plan. In America, there are 3 ways they get things done.

1) Secretly, but in terms of guns this literally couldn't happen.
2) They get us to want to give our rights away with ridiculous logical leaps and total abuse of media.
3) They do it in very slow steps until they get enough of number 2 to complete the deal.

In this case, I'd say it'll be number 3.

I'll say it again, now to you.

Me too. Many think we are beyond it, but I think that the Congressmen that hang around the National Mall, could one day really hang, around the National Mall.

It depends how far they want to push us.

Hey, we're on the same side. My fear is that too many will feel all is well...

That's when we are most vulnerable. A little at a time...that is so true.

I remember watching in horror as Australia's privately owned guns were picked up en masse by a large magnet (think junkyard), and the scenes of them (some were irreplaceable antiques) being sawn in half. The "officials" doing the collecting and destroying actually believed they were doing the right thing...NOT!!!

Please contact your representatives and inform them that THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN IN THE USA!!!

Proud owner of:

M4 carbine (5.56) (fixed stock) (12 pre ban 30rd mags and a CMAG)
AKS-74 (5.45) (12 pre ban 30rd mags)
Makarov P-6
Beretta M-9

Hoping my tax return is enough to finally get the Barrett .50!!!

That very well could be the scene in the good 'ole USA one day...

They'll probably let us all go broke first. Then roll out the biggest Cash For Guns campaign you've ever seen!

You made a good point. Unemployment will continue, state and federal resources will be drained; then, they'll roll out the gun campaign.

Huge pay outs for guns, and possibly ammo, that's turned in. No questions asked. Bought, stolen, illegal, doesn't matter - they'll all be worth vouchers (or cash).

This will start the civil unrest, with people breaking into houses looking for guns and ammo.

You make a valid point.
All it will take is one citizen to "tattle-tale" on another.
Thats deserves 12,002,390 stars.

People, listen.
They can't take what they don't know you have!
Quit buying new guns and "registering" them!
Every gun you "register", the gov't knows you own...

So, in summary, don't worry about it.
Keep your guns and quit buying what they have inventory of.

Believe me, they won't get mine. I WILL go down fighting.

Yep. Better hurry though, gun buying/selling between ordinary citizens will soon be a thing of the past.

One day you'll need a permit to give your kid his first 410 single shot.

I guess Im just gonna have to stock up on more guns and ammo while I can .I know why they want our guns ,I just dont think they are gonna be able to get them. I think the law abiding citizens are just about ready to take up arms against the government and take it back I know I am

I also dont think they would have a chance against us in the end

It will be impossible to take away the guns of American citizens or any nation in that matter without a War which would consist of the nations Government vs the nations People.
