Russia again acting for itself... they must think the US have no plans to occupy/control Iran... or can't... because an US-controlled Iran wouldn't be good for Russia at all.

Iran denies running covert nuclear site
Iran's nuclear chief Ali-Akbar Salehi has denied allegations of a clandestine underground atomic site near the country's mega capital of Tehran.
The terrorist Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO) on Thursday had claimed that it had evidence of a new secret underground atomic site in the country.
The group had said that a facility intended to enrich uranium was deep under a mountain near Qazvin -- about 120 km west of Tehran -- and was about 85 percent complete.
"We don't have such a facility, if they have any details they should inform us so that we can thank them," Salehi told Mehr news agency on Friday.
The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said the country has plenty of facilities that, for example, sterilize agricultural products using nuclear technology which do not fall into the nuclear plant category.
Founded in the 1960s, the MKO has masterminded terrorist operations in Iran and Iraq, killing thousands of people and wounding many more.
The group is especially notorious in Iran for having sided with former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.
The Public Prosecutor of the Iraqi High Tribunal, Jaafar al-Mousawi, stated in mid-August that investigations have also incriminated MKO members in playing a leading role in the killings of Iraqi civilians.
Mousawi further commented that the terrorist group had supported Saddam Hussein's Baath regime, aiding in the suppression of the Iraqi people's uprising in 1991 and the torture and massacre of innocent people in the northern and southern regions of the country.

Israel closes all Gaza border crossings
The Israeli army has announced that all Gaza crossings will be closed to traffic and incoming goods for four days as the Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr.
The army announced the closure on Thursday, the Israeli new year as the reason.
The Palestinians say that the closure means no goods or aid would enter Gaza for four days.
The announcement comes as Israeli warplanes bombed several locations inside the Gaza Strip on the eve of Eid al-Fitr that marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
Witnesses say they have also spotted Israeli tanks along the Gaza border but there is no further detail available, a Press TV correspondent reported.
Israeli officials at the Gaza border crossings said that the terminals would remain closed for four full days, while on Monday they will be opened only partially in the morning.
They claim that sufficient fuel had been transferred into Gaza to cover the needs of the power plant until the end of the holidays.
Israel placed Gaza under the all-out siege in mid-June 2007, claiming it was preventing alleged security hazards posed by the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, which had won democratic elections a year earlier.
The blockade has ever since deprived Gaza's 1.5 million residents of food, fuel and other necessities.
The siege remains in order while the coastal sliver is far from recovering from the full-fledged Israeli war at the turn of 2009, which killed more than 1,400 Palestinians and inflicted a damage of more than USD1.6 billion on its economy.

Israeli jets bomb Gaza as tanks line up
Israeli warplanes have bombed many targets in the besieged Gaza Strip, damaging several buildings and injuring two Palestinians.
Sixteen Israeli warplanes have attacked the coastal strip a few hours before midnight on Thursday, firing at least one rocket into a security compound west of Gaza City, a Press TV correspondent reported.
Two other rockets were fired south of Gaza in the town of Rafah injuring two Palestinians. Another rocket was also fired east of Gaza city, he said.
Witnesses say they have spotted Israeli tanks along the Gaza border but there is no further detail available, the Press TV correspondent reported.
Israeli officials have confirmed that a military operation has taken place in the coastal strip, without giving any further details.
The incident happened when the streets of Gaza were packed with people preparing for celebrations of Eid al-Fitr on Friday to mark the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

Israeli Navy Tests New Missile Defense Systems to Counter Hizbullah Capability
Yeah if Syria/Hezbollah get the russian P-800 anti-ship missile... I say your missile defense system will be pretty useless.
Russia to sell Syria anti-ship cruise missiles
Russia's has confirmed it will supply Syria with anti-ship cruise missiles, Russian media report.
Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov was quoted as saying Russia would fulfil a contract signed in 2007 for the P-800 Yakhont missiles.
Both the US and Israel had requested that Syria should not be supplied with the missiles.
But Russian officials did not agree that they would "fall into the hands of terrorists", Mr Serdyukov said.
Israel said they would pose a threat to its navy vessels in the Mediterranean.
Last month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly told his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, that the missiles might be handed over to the Lebanese Shia Islamist group, Hezbollah.
Chinese-made anti-ship missiles sold to Syria were used to target an Israeli destroyer during the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah.
Speaking to reporters in Washington on Friday, Mr Serdyukov said the issue was raised during talks with US Defence Secretary Robert Gates.
"We will supply Yakhont to Syria. We will fulfil the contract," he said, according to the Russian news agency, RIA-Novosti.
"The US and Israel asked us not to supply Syria with Yakhont. But we do not see the concerns expressed by them that these arms will fall into the hands of terrorists," he added.
The supersonic P-800 Yakhont missiles have a range of 300km (186 miles), carry a 200kg (440lb) warhead, and are able to fly at an altitude of only 5-15m (16-50ft), making it difficult to detect and intercept them.
"Israel has fully cooperated with the IAEA," State Department spokesman Philip Crowley claimed on Wednesday.

IRGC has rejected the reports as unfounded and says no US troops have been arrested.

The Pentagon also denied arrest reports as false. "We have no missing soldiers. All accounted for," AFP quoted Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell as saying.
Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Basit told AFP that "There are no US soldiers there -- the question of arrest does not arise."

'Iran has no plan to build nuclear bomb'
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says his country will never seek a nuclear bomb, stressing that Iran has always called for a world free of nuclear weapons.
Ahmadinejad made the remark in an exclusive interview with The Associated Press on the first day of his stay in New York to attend UN General Assembly's annual session.
The Iranian president also played down the impact of sanctions imposed on Iran over its nuclear activities, saying that the sanctions against Tehran's nuclear program are ineffective.
"The United States' administrations ... must recognize that Iran is a big power," Ahmadinejad said, adding, "Having said that, we consider ourselves to be a human force and a cultural power and hence a friend of other nations. We have never sought to dominate others or to violate the rights of any other country.”
The Iranian president added, "Those who insist on having hostilities with us, kill and destroy the option of friendship with us in the future, which is unfortunate because it is clear the future belongs to Iran and that enmities will be fruitless."
Ahmadinejad is scheduled to deliver a speech at the 65th UN General Assembly session at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.
The annual summit will focus on the Millennium Development Goals (MDG Summit) from September 20 to 22.

Israel makes infantry 'more lethal'
The Israeli army has finished reviewing the structure of its infantry battalions in an effort to increase their "lethal" power in urban and guerrilla warfare.
The review was ordered by Israeli army Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Gabi Ashkenazi after the troops failed to achieve their tactical goals during the December 2008-January 2009 war against the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli army has introduced several new weapons systems in its battalions to make them more lethal, particularly in offensives in urban settings like Gaza and villages in southern Lebanon, the Jerusalem Post reported.
The US-made sniper rifle HTR 2000 is one of the new weapons distributed to all infantry battalions. The new rifle enables Israeli soldiers to hit targets up to a distance of 1,000 meters and can accommodate a special night-vision add-on scope.
The Israeli army's ground forces command, which oversaw the review, has also purchased dozens of Polaris all-terrain vehicles. The utility vehicle would enable the infantry to transport up to 700 kilograms of supplies behind enemy lines at a speed close to 80 kilometer per hour.
The battalions have, moreover, been equipped with explosives to knock down doors and walls independent of combat engineer units, while Matador anti-structure shoulder-launched missiles will give them an upper hand in dealing with targets inside fortified positions.
Meanwhile, the Israeli infantry are also undergoing special training to erect camouflaged positions for the battalion when necessary during operations.
Last month, the Israeli forces carried out joint military maneuvers with the US Marines in the Negev desert in southern Israel as part of a series of exercises on the Lebanese and Syrian borders.
Hinging on guerilla warfare, the drills reportedly involved fighting mock street battles with resistance fighters and the invasion of an Israeli military-built mock-up of a typical Palestinian village.

Lebanon general decries judiciary
Former general Jamil al-Sayyed says he would respond to court summon only if Lebanon's judiciary is 'de-politicised.'
A former Lebanese army general has said he will not respond to a state summons for questioning, after he called the prime minister a liar and allegedly urged people to topple his government.
Jamil al-Sayyed, Lebanon's former General Security chief, was among four pro-Syrian officers jailed without charge for nearly four years during events surrounding the 2005 assassination of Rafik Hariri, Lebanon's former prime minister.
Sayyed, who is seen as a political ally of Hezbollah, and the other officers, were freed in 2009 for lack of evidence.
Al Jazeera's Salam Khoder reporting from Beirut reports that Sayyed said "he would not appear before any court unless Saeed Mirza, Lebanon’s general prosecutor, is dismissed."
Speaking at his arrival at the airport in Beirut, the Lebanese capital, on Saturday, Sayyed said he believes the charges against him are part of a political smear campaign, in which Mirza plays a leading role.
Our correspondent said that: "The scene of Sayyed’s return to Beirut was stimulating as political forces and opposition parties received him at the airport".
Sayyed is suing Mirza in a Syrian court and at the UN appointed international tribunal investigating Hariri's killing, for allegedly misleading the investigation.
'Sold father to Syria'
Mirza issued the court summons last Monday, a day after Sayyed held a press conference in which he accused Saad Hariri, the current prime minister, of selling his father's blood to frame Syria for his father's death.
The assassination of Rafiq Hariri set off a wave of turmoil that led to the withdrawal of Syrian troops after a nearly 30 year presence in Lebanon.
"Saad al-Hariri personally admitted [that] false witnesses [were used in gathering evidence for the assassination investigation] and we want to hold them accountable by the law and when you will disturb law (addressing Hariri), we will hold them accountable in the street," Sayyed told reports upon his arrival from Paris.
Our correspondent in Beriut said the "Hezbollah party and its allies will not leave SayyedBeirut to be questioned before the Lebanese judiciary, as they also see that it is a politically motivated judiciary."
Al-Sayyed was not taken in for questioning at the airport. It was not immediately clear what measures Lebanese authorities would take if the former general fails to respond to the state summons.
Research published by Washington Institute for Near East Policy says future Israel-Hezbollah war would likely draw in Iran and cover much of Lebanon, Israel and probably Syria. According to White, if another Israel-Hizbullah war breaks out it will not resemble the war of the summer of 2006, but will cover much of Lebanon and Israel, and probably also Syria, and is likely to also draw in Iran, involve major military operations, cause significant casualties among combatants and civilians, and destroy infrastructure. White says that in his assessment, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) will occupy parts - possibly significant portions - of Lebanon within weeks, and possibly all the Gaza Strip. He says that it will be the most serious war Israel has been involved in since 1973, and Israel must emerge victorious.

Interesting and I think it's true. Since 2006, the longer it takes to have another war, the worst it will be. I've read some analysis last year saying that Israel would be forced to use WMDs in the next war because they will not accept thousands of casualties.
Blast in Iranian city kills at least ten
AP
Wednesday, 22 September 2010
Ten people died and 57 others were injured when a bomb exploded at military parade in north-western Iran today.
The blast in the city of Mahabad, close to the borders with Iraq and Turkey, , was blamed on Kurdish separatists who have fought Iranian forces for decades.
Most of the victims were women and children, said provincial Governor Vahid Jalalzadeh.
Iranian forces in the border zone have for years clashed with Kurdish rebels from the Iranian wing of the Kurdistan Workers Party, which also has fighters based in Turkey and Iraq. The group in Iran has generally not targeted civilians in its campaign for greater rights for the Kurdish minority, raising the prospect that the bomb might have gone off prematurely.
A state radio report said the device was detonated on a timer and had been placed under a bush near the parade route.
Jalalzadeh said the explosion was carried out by "counter revolutionaries," a reference to the Kurdish separatist group. He called the bombing "a terrorist incident".
The parade was one of several events around the country to mark the 30th anniversary of the start of the Iran-Iraq war. No military personnel were wounded, Jalalzadeh said.
The Mehr news agency said the dead included the wives of two of ranking military officers.
"The explosion happened opposite the VIP stage among women who were present there," Jalalzadeh said.
The Iranian branch of the Kurdish rebel group, the Party for Free Life in Kurdistan, says it is fighting for greater rights in Iran.
The city of Mahabad is home to 190,000 people - most of them Kurds and Sunni Muslims. Iran is predominantly Shiite.
Mahabad was once the capital of the self-proclaimed republic of Kurdistan in Iran. Iran's armed forces recaptured Mahabad in 1946.
