This nonsense has gone on far enough. Haiti did not "make a deal with the devil" unless American Evangelicals are equating "the devil" with the US and the West in general.

Summary: Haiti was forced to pay France for its freedom. When they couldn't afford the ransom, France (and other countries, including the United States) helpfully offered high-interest loans. By 1900, 80% of Haiti's annual budget went to paying off its "reparation" debt. They didn't make the last payment until 1947. Just 10 years later, dictator François Duvalier took over the country and promptly bankrupted it, taking out more high-interest loans to pay for his corrupt lifestyle. The Duvalier family, with the blind-eye financial assistance of Western countries, killed 10s of thousands of Haitians, until the Haitian people overthrew them in 1986. Today, Haiti is still paying off the debt of an oppressive dictator no one would help them get rid of for 30 years. The rest of the world refuses to forgive this debt. So, in a way, maybe Robertson is right. Haiti is caught in a deal with the devil, and the devil is us. Update: mgfarrelly points out another thing I didn't know—the U.S. Congress is currently considering a bill called The Jubilee Act for Responsible Lending and Expanded Debt Cancellation. Part of what this bill would do is help countries like Haiti get their debt canceled, without making that cancellation conditional on things like closing down free schools or raising the cost of fresh water. May be a good time to contact your representatives about about this bi-partisan measure.

For all concerned........let the historical record speak for itself.....the Hatian witch doctors (shamans) made a pact with the devil. No doubt about it. The populace joined in on the satanic conspiracy in anticipation of a 'better deal'. As earlier stated - you Americans are doing precisely the same thing only this time the witch doctors are cloaked in the disguise of the politician working for the so-called 'betterment' of the human condition. You have all been duped and guess what - ITS TOO LATE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT - the die is cast and you will suffer greatly for it - as greatly as are the Hatians in this present moment - and then some............

Incidentlly.........Haiti is now a country occupied by the US Military. Not much of an attempt has been made at rescue - food and water, and after three days into the disaster there were NO MILITARY physicians on the ground in Haiti - its as though they are waiting for as many to die as is possible, and the CIA/Military will take care of the rest of those targeted for elimination. The first American response was a MILITARY one. Don't be at all surprised if the HAARP weapon wasn't put into operation here. America is under the impression that they can 'purify and rehabilitate' the island through forced occupation and coercive conversion. Nothing could be further from the truth. This covert action was something of a 'test' but more importantly it was not for the purposes of population control in this particular instance - but was designed to 'take over' the island. They represented a threat to the west and were a clear and present danger. Ask Chavez and the new Castro if you don't believe me.

Voodoo and Santaria are pretty much the "state religion" in Haiti. As soon as this happened I was very conscious of the evil and satanic nature of this entire island. Its all one place - what you’re seeing are only apparent contrasts as though the DR were really prosperous and successful especially when placed against their counterparts on the other side of the island. Robertson is just being honest but you Americans - in your trenchant godlessness and outright atheism are too blinded to see and your ears are deaf to the "WORD" who is Jesus Christ...shame on you all and may God have mercy on this nation - be prepared for a cataclysm: a total disaster wrought by the hand of God for your arrogance and disobedience. The cult of ritual human sacrifice - aka ABORTION - is enough, in and of itself, for God to destroy this nation as He did Sodom and Nineveh.........

My experience has been that persons such as yourself who make such bold claims as to their so-called 'well being' that usually far exceed the condition of the rest of us 'ordinary mortals', are for the most part - out and out frauds.
