Are you suggesting that war is some kind of racket?

That it only increases the wealth of a relative few, at the expense of many?

Don't they hate our freedom?

Star and Flag OP, and i'm looking forward to your next post concerning Irak. My deepest regards and respect, it's great that you were able to come to these realisations, even more so you being in the position you are. Bravo. Just out of curiosity, have you talked to your fellow soldiers about your state of mind ? And how long do you have left to serve ?

S&F very good post. Thank you for your service.

I fully support the anti-war movement but unfortunately here on ATS it seems to have taken a turn for the Vietnam era with an anti-troop movement.

This I can't stand. You can't blame the troops who are being tossed around be TPTB for their own personal gain like they don't even matter. Psychological studies show that when soldiers are on the field fighting, it's for the guy next to them, not political beliefs or otherwise.

Maybe we went into Afghanistan originally to hunt terrorists, maybe we didn't. I don't know. But it's obvious that we were tricked into war in Iraq by false claims of WMDs.

And you know what the funny (or sad) thing is? The United States is currently at its maximum oil refining capacity, and last time I checked we haven't even built a refinery since the 70's, and on top of that several have shut down since then.

This isn't about more oil; it's about who has control of the oil. Whoever has control of the supply can set the prices as high as they want (like they've been doing for the past two years!).

Yet another reason to switch to solar/wind/nuclear power and electric cars. It'll be a while before we start wars over sunlight
.

That was amazing man, I hope it doesn't get you into any sorts of trouble!!! Even though the pictures show and describe something we don't see every day, can you tell us about drug deals between the US army and local drug dealers? I heard that there are huge drug factories in Iraq and I actually heard that US army is protecting them. I don't know if this is BS or if it is true, but what I know for a fact is that money exchange due to drug dealing is by far (a few billion) more than the exchange for oil trade.

I wouldn't know how to confirm this, but from your experience, did you come up with something like this?

This doesn't expose anything. Of course we protect the oil, are you kidding? Oil is the life blood of Iraq, and if they don't have that cash flow then stability gets EVEN WORSE. More people lose jobs, less revenue, less taxes, etc. So as bad as it is and was, it would be even worse. The more unstable things are, the more troops get killed and the longer we have to have a large military force there.

We don't own that oil. If you bothered to do research you would know that. The Iraqi govt didn't even award the oil contract to US companies. We don't own the oil, but of course we are going to protect it. I am not trying to be a jerk, but you just went to Iraq, took some pictures of things we all know is going on and then decided what it meant without doing the research.

Well, I don't know about any drug deals here in Iraq but if you go to El paso Texas you will see some soldiers I know sell some good stuff from Jaurez and bring it on post. Of course some of them get caught and end up in deep $*** but thats their fault for making a profit out of drugs.

Your welcome friend. I try to the fullest to bring some changes, but this is just a a little push compared to what we can really do to help this world and ease its pain. More pics coming soon.

I was always dissapointed with our government going to war with Iraq. Maybe the war on terror was legit, maybe not but to go next door and start another seemed absurd. Our societies have been intergrated and we have to deal with it on a personal level everyday. John Howard is a real tosser

are you actually allowed to talk about what you are doing in iraq?

I would hate for you to go to prison for posting on this site.

But then again thank you for having to balls to do this either way.

ahahahahaha!

war is always profitable. not just for the "few". there was a thread about conpiricys that turned out ot be true. in one of them there was a report done by the intelligent agencies in Us to see whether it was in the best interest of the country to have no wars. they decided no, that the u.s should always be in a war. it is good for the economy.

this has always been true since the world wars.

---well praise be--a warrior turned human being again--nice to have you back--you are much needed in todays world--nice pics but nothing new to most of us--just think about what goes on behind closed doors?--you can keep your career-and loose your soul--you can keep your career and loose your mind--i will not tell you what to do since you are on the right road again, but you will have some tough desisions to make--i hope for the best---i hope you un-load the weapon though since you already know its wrong and going forward will be a risky thing for your own sanity--so many regret what they have seen caused by our forces or by themselves-sins can go a long way--mine did and still do

Enlisted soldiers have certain restrictions on what they can show but that mostly has to do with operational security. Officers on the other hand are commissioned and they have to be more careful about what they are saying.

Fuel for us is always free and yes Iraqis get free medicare, though it is not high quality but still better then nothing I guess. I have done that before, but instead of guarding we capture those Hadji's that try to blow us up, and that was happening in my last deployment. Now its all about getting that money to project workers.

iraq had a long history of free medical care for its people, long before the u.s invaded , bagdad s medical schools had good reputations among students/doctors all over the world

there was free school . social security to name but a few of the things they had..

so my question is why would they even care about u.s medi care when they even eradicated polio in under 10 years ,...

A lot of this oil actually feeds China. Look it up.

There are many deeper reasons to this war than simply petty black gold, as Iraq is a very crucial variable in determining the outcome of the global government's formation.

Ask yourselves what is the UN up to? This is the central variable to the difficult equation known as Iraq.

Think globally.

Thanks for making the thread Stop-Loss, you have just shown more proof of the things we all (for the most part) already believe, but none the less thank you.

I do not believe every troop is an a$$hole, obviously, but there are a lot of troops out there still willing to fight for what they believe their country is doing (which is not what they think it is).

I think the troops are the ones that really need to realize the truth before anyone else, plus with more soldiers coming out saying these types of things about oil preserves and showing proof (although word of mouth in the military seems to go pretty far) will help change the citizens minds. That is ultimately what we need.

It's sad though, the world is in too deep. I think at this point many people would have to die for there to be global change, and I really don't see that as something too far off.

Good luck to you though Stop-Loss, hope everything goes well for you. Provide any other information you can. Buy some bugs, plant some, and listen in
That would certainly get some more truth out would it not? Just kidding, don't go doing anything that stupid.
