I have not been able to look for other plots - I will work on that when I get into work lol - the link provided above shows a new quake of 5.5 that is not showing or not yet showing on USGS.

Terjadi pada Lokasi Magnitude Kedalaman

12:19:44 WIB 7.18 LS - 130.74 BT 5.5 SR 93 Km 108 km BaratLaut SAUMLAKI-MALUKU

What's even scarier - I speak and read only English - but - I can read understand/read what ever language that is - must just be earthquake language

I am just investigating the list. The times by the way are WIB which is UTC +7hrs

Actually there seem to be a few that USGS does not have.

I find you can get the jist with many languages based on our type of letters.

OK I have translated the WIB times to UTC and compared to USGS back through April. Red areas are differences. I guess some have not caught up yet?

With regard to the magnitudes I don't know if they are showing the same i.e. both Richter or both MM. On the assumption that they are the same scale then the difference between the Indonesian 7.2 and the USGS 7.7 is 6 times less strength!

Just found this one on EMSC (per solosister below)

Summary:
Magnitude mb 4.9 (USGS 4.8)
Region SIMEULUE, INDONESIA

Date time 2010-04-07 at 08:17:01.6 UTC
Location 2.29 N ; 96.45 E
Depth 30 km
Distances 268 km SW Binjai (pop 228,763 ; local time 15:17 2010-04-07)
171 km NW Gunung stoli (pop 24,787 ; local time 15:17 2010-04-07)
More seismicity information (Moment tensors, phases pickings, etc.)

Not on the Indonesian site? Bit slow updating?

The animated map of emsc is nice too. Old shakes will just g away, but the different coulors are used for depth. The Shakes started deep moving upwards.

Some 15 aftershocks jolt Simeulue on Wednesday

Wednesday, April 7, 2010 21:06

Banda Aceh (ANTARA News) -
Some 15 aftershocks jolted Simeulue district, Aceh province, here on Wednesday after an earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale hit the area earlier in the morning.

"Tens of aftershocks measuring less than 5.0 on the Richter scale are jolting the area after the main quake. We keep observing those with a magnitude of more than 5.0 on the Richter scale," an officer from Mata Ie Geophysics Agency, Eridawati, said here on Wednesday.

Eridawati said she had recorded four quakes measuring above 5.0 on the Richter scale which struck Simeulue district.

A powerful earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale jolted Simeulue district, Aceh province, on Wednesday morning. The temblor had its epicenter 73 kilometers southeast Sinabang, Simeulue district, at the depth of 34 kilometers.

The earthquake had the potential to trigger a tsunami. The condition caused panic among local community rushing out of their homes and going to higher grounds. Tens of local people were injured when trying to get out of their houses.

Whens the last time there was over 1000 EQ's listed on the USGS map been watching it for sometime now and don't think I've ever seen that number exceed 1000.

And if so whats the most that has been listed there just seems with all the large ones, and aftershocks afterwards like its much more than normal.

I know I am replying to myself but.....

On the Indonesian thread I found a link to this - which I had read about and forgotten.

This is the actual proof that geothermal projects can cause earthquakes.

My thanks to Dr Dodge for finding the info and posting here

I think the entire island of iceland is one whole geothermal project. I bet they get at least 75% of their energy from geothermal. Well, no I am not a bettor, just thinking out loud here.

Yes, it does appear high. I do not know what the largest among ever was. I think it is interesting that if you look at the world map it lists 1000 but if you look at the US map which is the main land, Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, only, it lists 2083 (and continuing to rise). earthquake.usgs.gov...
I was wondering to myself, and am not coming up with an answer so, I will wonder aloud here. We have had many, many, many aftershocks (I hope that is what they are!) from the 7.2 C/M quake, and they do not appear to be subsiding. Most of these "aftershocks" have been in the 3 +/- range (odd no bigger ones). Ok so, I wonder, with the Haiti quake and the Chile quake, were there these sort of aftershocks as well? USGS only posted mag 4.5 +. Is there a list somewhere for reference on ALL aftershocks for Haiti and Chile?

On a separate note, I do believe that the actual Indonesia quake is at 7.7 and the 7.2 must be a different measurement. I believe this because I feel that the USGS with a mag. that high in that location, would scour the information promptly.

So, then back to my thinking prior to the Indonesian quake, which only makes matter worse, because is acting the same as the other 3. Here we have all these Large quakes, but nothing else is giving. For the most part, the events are keeping to themselves - local. Haiti - wham, Yellowstone swarmed (and continues to swarm) and that was about it - then - Chili - wham, we get a little in Japan area but not much especially considering it was a 8.8. - then - C/M 7.2 and we all sat here looking at yellow squares. - Now 7.7 Indonesia - the map is still looking yellow - yes, we had a few others out in left field. BUT all is relatively - Silent so to speak! IMHO that is. Any thought on this?

Hey you guys, take a look at THIS.

It's the current live seismo for Mount Hood. I think it's pretty obvious what I'm talking about, but it's about 1500 to 1520. If you go back and look you'll see that there isn't any kind of patern for cultural noise (IMO) that would give that signal....avalanche? Although, I don't think any avalanche would last that long.....watchya think?

EDIT TO ADD ANOTHER STATION:

Wow. I went searching for another, newer seismo that is at Mount Hood and take a look at what I found: HERE.

Here is a link to the map I pulled it off of : link to map It's station is TDH

1. That S sign and P Sign wave,,,, actually Galactus sized "HELLLO" think-->Indipendence Day
2. Energy OBLIVIOUSLY now being FOCUSED on Baja California area and why is California ie Los Angeles city of Angels and all that stuff?? ie Myth Legend aspect
3. We are now at DAY 4 of some kind of "OK PEOPLE LETS FOCUS HERE"
strange event that much should be viewed clinically and dispastionaly, is the event unique-yes is the event real--yes ok now lets pool our colective geniui and come up with some REAL senarios for AFTER the WORST case secenario is lets say imagined. Were way past the part in the movie when THAT guy goes BUT theres no REAL proof" and everyone wants to put a bullet in him ,,, sorry but u know the part. OK

If you look at 24 hour, you will see the 2.0 2010/04/07 02:15:39 46.029 -122.436 15.2 14 km ( 9 mi) N of Amboy, WA
. What your are referring to must be local or we really have problems! I think it is man made (I hope).

Yah, I compared all the times with local and distant quakes and none added up, so it looks like it is a local event (to mount hood).

I'm hoping Puterman or someone with skills can pull up a better signal and take a listen....looks kinda worrisome to me though.

so along with all the earthquakes this year
we have 2 mine accidents within a week
(as well as 2 more quakes, Mexico and Indonesia wi tsunami warning)
anyone think any chance the mine accidents somehow related?
wouldn't it make a great disaster movie? quakes, mine accidents, then invasion from below (a la the Underminer!)

Don't forget about the refinery explosion in Washington. Beginning to see a link to energy - related natural resources / disasters.

Or maybe not.
