This seems to confirm my previous understanding of these devices, based on my background in medical imaging & medical radiation.
I don't believe these devices are dangerous from a radiation perspective.
They may not be dangerous from an ionizing radiation perspective but what about the danger express by non-ionizing radiation in OP's article? Remember terahertz radiation is non-ionizing.
We consider the influence of a terahertz field on the breathing dynamics of double-stranded DNA. We model the spontaneous formation of spatially localized openings of a damped and driven DNA chain, and find that linear instabilities lead to dynamic dimerization, while true local strand separations require a threshold amplitude mechanism. Based on our results we argue that a specific terahertz radiation exposure may significantly affect the natural dynamics of DNA, and thereby influence intricate molecular processes involved in gene expression and DNA replication.

She studies molecular biology with a strong emphasis on DNA biology.

Maybe...maybe not, with your background in radiology etc. tell us which one it is that need radioactive Iodine which just may Destroy your Salivary Glands and/or Your Tear Glands.
Did they ever test this stuff on live animals of any sort? Or are humans the test subjects?
What about infants and children? Do they get zapped too?
Why use sniffer dogs when this new machine is so much more fun?
Bet they have 100’s of people lined up for the job.
Yes, dogs can sniff out Cancer. They are also used as early warning systems for people who have seizures. The dog can tell when one is coming on.

Hmm. You sounded as if the authority on this stuff. But come again we'll all be waiting for her opinion on the effects of terahertz waves on human biology. Thing is, according the the study, scientific understanding in terahertz is just now becoming not only clear, but relevant.

The evidence that terahertz radiation damages biological systems is mixed. "Some studies reported significant genetic damage while others, although similar, showed none,"
This is like saying egg yokes are bad for you one week and then saying that they are an essential part of your diet for a healthy lifestyle the next.
There will always be that "what if" fear within humans. It all just comes down to whether you will let the "fear" rule your life around your self contained virtual plastic bubble
OR you will allow the experts make the scientifically proven decisions to move forward.
This is by no means an attack on your person, but are you Conservative? Just saying.
Remember, most ideas are put in place to protect us from failure, but every once in a while, that small percentage of failed ideas can slip through the cracks. Us humans are, by no means, perfect. BUT at least we try.
Honestly, if we don't step up, keep up with technology, and adapt to our changing society we might as well just step aside and be taken over by advancing nations.
SCIENCE AND MATH will finally be a priority again. YES, it is expensive, but unless you are one of those who, with an iron fist, can dictate what profit margins the corporate fat cats get, plan to pay out the ass for the luxury of precious technology.
It's human nature to be FEARFUL,
That being said.... Someone has to control the games or someone is sure to cheat. Soooo....Who do you think is worthy of such a task.... Really think about that one. Potentially Greedy Corporations? OR a "so called" Corrupt Government? (which is the lesser of two evils)

WHAT?!
And thats why you want some federal bureacrats to see your 'junk'.
Sounds like you're discussing paranoid sheeple begging for thse scanners. Don't stay in your self-contained privacy bubble, al qaeda is out tehre in the shadows somewhere and big brother needs your most intimate details.

BUT, both are waaay over their heads with an ever increasing population of independant thinkers. GOOD and BAD ones. Sooo... what do you do, let everyone be selfishly responsible for themself (human nature) and just say "F@#$ it!!! You are on your own"? OR Send in the cleaners?
Be sure if you chose the former, the bad guys win. (Bad guys meaning all extremist organizations....like...the Catholic church, al queda, 1%er motorcycle organizations, Neo-nazi white pride groups, selfish drug quartels, etc.)
What other choice do we have really?
Whatever the elite have up their sleeves, be sure that all preventative measures will eventually have to be put in place to avoid total collapse.
And thats why you want some federal bureacrats to see your 'junk'.
It's not like they would intentionally hire a petophile to do the job.
Do you have any quams about your doctor seeing or touching your junk?
Do you know even if his PRIVATE (see what I did there..LOL) practice has been profiled to verify whether or not he or she is a sexual deviant?
Really? Intimate details? That is the problem with our society..... We are so insecure about ourselves (corporate media driven by the way), that we have lost all self esteem.
Why do you think porn site are becoming more and more accessible now... I think it is to condition people that it is what it is.... A boob is a boob, an arse is an arse, sex is sex. Get over it.
I honestly wouldn't mind seeing both the extremist muslim faith and extremist christians faith both just finally exterminate one another completely. They are holding on too tight. One is no better than the other. And that comment is coming from the mouth of a Mason!? Oh my goodness.

From the patient information pamphlet:
Side Effects
Radioactive iodine treatment has a few side
effects, and these occur infrequently:
A sore throat may occur a few days after the treatment,
which can be treated with Panadol.
Rarely, the salivary glands may swell, which is caused
by the iodine and not the radioactivity. Sucking hard
lollies for a few days may prevent this.
Mild nausea may develop for a few hours after the
iodine is taken, so it is best not to eat for 4 hours
before and 1 hour after the iodine administration.
