If you are reading this, youve failed.

Take a second, and think about what you have done today. Maybe you went to the store, maybe you had a drink or two, maybe you are driving home from the holidays. Maybe you didnt get what you wanted for Christmas.

Ok, now hold that thought.

I have been reading articles on this site for a while now. There are so many subjects. The NWO, alien life, climategate, astrology, astronomy, psychology, politics, and conversations with people that claim to be "walk in" aliens. Almost all have something to do with conspiracies. But these conpiracies rarely point the fingers at ourselves. I know what youre thinking.

"But we arent to blame, we disagree and we want to find the truth."

The human condition is......well.... very strange.
Being able to discuss conspiracies with people across the world is very neat. Our ancestors would not even believe it possible.
People from 200 years ago, certainly would be astounded.
Technology speeds by. Constantly upgrading.

Now lets think about all of the problems we have, as humans.
Obesity, addictions, child abuse, murder, paranoia, job loss, depression, war.
We are products of our environment. People would not have been addicted to Twitter, or overweight from eating too much fast food 200 years ago. The technology didnt exist.
I think that we agree, that access to technology does not necessarily mean a higher quality of life.

In fact, it might just be the opposite.
Years ago, our ancestors learned how to hunt, and how to defend themselves because they had to. They didnt need a GPS, because they could use the stars, and the sun to navigate and later-a compass. Excess was not generally a problem.

Excess, is not natural. Yet we live in a society filled with it.

For food, our ancestors could kill what they need, and use almost all of the parts of the animal. They could farm for vegtables and fruits. But there was no guarantee that there would be enough food. If you have ever been homeless, you know how important food is. As an average american(or other well-off country), you probably dont think too often about what you would do for food, if it wasnt available. Food was shared with your tribe or village.
Animals are slaughtered en masse, for you these days. Sometimes, in a humane way, sometimes not. This is a feature of living in a technologically superior society. If you have money, you can buy it. Same goes for housing, clothing and entertainment.

So what did you do today? Did you drive? Did you buy food? Get a new sweater? Im not here to make you feel guilty.

A high percentage of America is obese. A higher percentage is addicted to something frivolous. Another percentage is affected by both of the former, and is depressed about it. You cant pay your light bills, you miss a car loan payment. Your credit score sucks. You feel distant, and you think your children are slipping away.

Would we have as many problems, if say...the power went out..... for good?

The conspiracies on this website and in general, have something to do with control. The Government is controlling you. Information being withheld from you is a form of control. Religion is control. Laws are control. The police control. Taxes control. Tyranny controls.
But also...technology, controls. Because advancement, breeds all of these things.

Technology is making us de-evolve. We often regard the actions of ancient cultures as archaic. Savages. Beasts. But maybe they were on the path of true species evolution.
But the senses, the instincts that you-as a human-should have, are disappearing. There is an argument amongst many groups, stating that humans have not evolved quickly. Some say we havent evolved at all. Technology has retro-fitted us, for failure as a species. Technology also has you completely under control.

It has also removed us from our natural environment. Outdoors. Earth.

We were not made to live in boxes, in apartments and houses. Lounging around with laptop in hand. Watching television. Eating fattening food, with no regard or respect for the animal that has died for our nourishment. Processed, and chemically treated food.
Chemically treated water.
Chemically treated hair spray, vitamin supplements, cigarettes, soda. American Idol. ipods.
Creature comfort euphoria, pre-packaged and delivered to your door, via your online order.
It's too easy.

We can only abuse nature and continue to de-evolve for so long. I believe, that humans at one time possesed a more accute set of senses, and they are not forever lost. Nature has it's own way of sorting things out. Nature will eventually sort us out, as well. Maybe a disaster? Weather? Volcanoes? Ice age?

If everything electronic dies, think about what would happen. Chaos would be first. people would panic. Money is worthless. No phone. No computer. No GPS. No more stocks. No more wall street. No more banks. No electricity would make a huge impact.

After the chaos, we could maybe find peace. You would no longer need anything the earth could not provide. Animals would no longer be slaughtered en masse. No one would control you, but nature. Family roles would once again be established. Distractions would be removed, so you could focus on what your instincts tell you to focus on.
Money is what runs this world. The people with money, have power. If there was no money, there is no control.

Im not asking for anarchy. But....

If we continue to exist in a society that breeds creature comfort, we will strive to be comfortable. We will strive for envy.
As long as we are comfortable, we are distracted.
As long as we are distracted, we are controled, as long as we are controled-there is no peace. Not between each other, not within ourselves.
As long as there is no peace, conspircies, deciet, and lies will plague us.

Do you think you could live without your technology?
Do you think you would be better without it? Does it control you?

Do you think technology is used for the wrong reasons?

Cant wait to hear your thoughts!!

Great thread. I thought it was well put together and proves a good point. I too and im sure others have often thought of this, i am just not as good at putting my thoughts and feelings into words as you, im glad you posted this. I believe there are 3 things that help us survive that god has given us. 1. Our spiritual selves, the part of god in us, to help guide us. 2. Our animal bodies, because animal bodies have the instincts to survive and pro create. 3. The technology we create, which it seems we have a huge imbalance of these three and are almost all dependent on technology for survival. Its kind of like when I was young and my dad never caught a fish for me, but taught me to fish, our technology is catching our fish for us, most people couldnt find a way to survive without our current technology.

I love this post, and I agree whole heartedly...I myself have at one point been under technologies spell (hhheeelllloooo world of warcraft!)

I haven't gone to the extreme like some ats members have, taking out my tv etc., because i believe in finding a healthy balance in all things.

Sure I might be on the computer for awhile, hell later today I'm even going shopping for some last minute items for a trip i'm taking to PA on the 29th. However, I make it a point in my life to remain conscious of all that is going on around me, in nature and within the confines of our "advanced" society.

I go camping whenever possible, it may not be as our ancestors did it, but I'm making the effort to stay connected to my roots, as I believe we all come from the Mother, and to her we will return, I think the way we are now, we serve the Earth in betters ways dead than we do alive (morbid yes I know). As we die, our bodies decompose and we feed the ground once more, instead of just taking taking taking, we actually give for once. Give EVERYTHING.

Anywho, I love this post...and yes I have failed, but recognizing that failure in turn allows us to become aware of ourselves and how we really affect others, how we really affect the world! Through that awareness, we can make choices, and those choices can only help to better us. Not through "control" as we know, but control of the one thing that can make a difference OURSELVES!

Everything that happened, happened, and couldnt have happened any other way.

I can say that these people are a problems and need to be removed. But their existance is the reason for mine... without them i would not be me. So unfortuantly i now look at all the horrible things in the world and see them as a part of myself. I let it all in and spit it back out at those that desesrve it.

For all that the world is and all that are in it.... they are loved by me in the deepest and pureist way.

I would rather be controlled, in which I still have the potential to break this control, than endure Artic temperatures, near starvation, and bear attacks. Do I still have the potential to bond with my family today? Yes, Do I have the potential to bond with my family back then? Yes. Do my family suffer the risk of potential being attack and eaten by bears, suffer near starvation, and endure Artic temperatures today? No

Can I live in today's society and find the truth of myself and live without fear and controll in today's society? Yes.

Technology has a positive potential and a negative potential. The negative potential is displayed when technology is used to distract you from the truth of yourselves and keep you in fear conforming to the system.

I agree very much with what you said.
There is a huge lack of balance. I didnt mention it, but I think it.

Youre not bad at all, putting your thoughts to words!

Au contraire mon ami...

By reading this, I have succeeded.

Yes, I most certainly can live without the technology, but while the technology and the creature comforts are available, I intend to use them.

Use of technology does not preclude an aptitude for everything else. In fact, use of technology can help through learning in order to prepare for darker days.

Failure and success are what the individual makes them. Simple as that.

Nice way to look at it. I agree to an extent. My original post may seem a little biased and extreme.
Obviously, I am using a computer, and a nice one at that

It was just a thought I had. I often think about what I would be, without the confines of our current societal structure.
I figured I would share one viewpoint, and see what others think.

We failed for reading your thread? That's mean.
At least we took the time to take you seriously. You should be thankful for that. I would.

A very interesting and thought provoking read. I just knew that i wouldnt be disappointed checking out a thread with a title like that. I too feel that the more we become dependent on technology, the more we become "de-evolved", but lets take a look at our own evolution. Unlike other life-forms of this planet, we dont have razor-sharp claws, fangs, or thick hides to help us adapt to the land. Instead, we evolved in a whole new direction. We are able to use our intelligence to escape that survival mode and create machines, devices, and whatever else our imagination can conjure up. We are able to manipulate our surroundings to accomadate us thanks to technology. Thats an impressive accomplishment. But, like you mentioned, there will always be people that will indulge in excess and/or use this technology for purposes that it is not intended for. Point being, for every advancement in technology, there will also be a counter to maintain balance. So, if we become entirely dependent on technology, something will happen that will be so catastrophic, that it will reset the foundation and restore balance....

...unless, of course, we develope the technology to prevent such an event, but do we really need to get into all that?
lol

guess what im trying to say is there's 2 sides to technology. if you look at all the negatives, you're going to feel like we are de-evolving, but if you can focus on all the positives, you will see that we are becoming a greater technologicly advanced civilization. Its all about perspective

I agree with you wholeheartedly on this issue, however, for you to imply I have failed at life simply because I own a computer and embrace technology for what it is, is something I find somewhat offensive.

I've never once in my life taken anything I've had, or been given for granted, and I know what it's like to have nothing. I'm not saying bare essentials to the point where I had to hunt my own food, but the point is, yes, it is bad in excess, as the saying goes, everything in moderation. However, I keep in mind that we have built our society up since then, and although you may see these advantages having a negative effect on people...(A majority of people become dependent on # they don't need), you need to take into account, not all of us are like that, so please don't generalize.

I've read the first 4 paragraphs.

And, I'm laughing.

If you don't think there is a sinister plot to the world, then go enjoy CNN and get off our ATS.

Man, ATS is like a cup of hot cocoa for me. After cutting firewood for me to burn and to sell, using some of the money to buy feed and feed my animals, fixing supper, helping my wife pack for a trip to Vermont tommorow, doing some other oddend chores....It's nice to sit back, read some of the posts and blow my mind. If this is failure, so be it...sounds like the good life to me. Oh, and YES we can survive no power, have done so and will again... ice storms are nasty. Intriguing idea though...oops, time for more coffee. Kaluha anyone?

Actually your response is more inline with why most people fail to survive when things do fall off the grid, not necessarily you specifically, but for example my 20 year old children would be devastated with out the creature comforts.

I think we will in fact find out who the "only the strong will survive" soon enough.

don't blame iton technology, blame it on its users.. Our ancestors hunted animals for food, clothing and...weaponary. they mde tools with severl part of the kill and by doing so they started technology.

Just because today it is shiny with all kinds of luminance doesnt mean it is very far upgraded yet.

It is overwhelming, the people who got offended by this thread.

I thought you guys were smarter than that. Read the questions at the bottom, and answer them. If you cannot, and you are offended, then you obviously misunderstood the thread.

No one said that there are no conspiracies. I dont know where you got that from. REVOLUTION 2012- There isnt a sinister plot to take over the world, not anymore, because its already happened. Thats what Im trying to say.

No one said you have literally failed at life.

I guess you get the good with the bad......but come on, people.

LOL first ofall Im not offended at all.

but to answer your questions:

Do you think you could live without your technology?

I could but i would still like to have fire to cookmy meat tt i caught with a weapon. my human body is just not strong enough to kill for meat everytime with my bare hands.

Do you think you would be better without it? Does it control you?

I can't answer if itis better or not. it is different. It does control processes but the processes of live will go on without it.

Do you think technology is used for the wrong reasons?

reasons are opinions, the one who is using it will never see it as wrong reason, the one who it is used on will always see it s wrong reason
