We've all heard of the evils of the worldwide Zionist conspiracy. Whether it's illegal organ trafficking, poisoning wells, instigating unrest in Iran, the credit crunch, climate change or stirring up trouble in Africa, you can bet your bottom dollar that somewhere, someone will believe that the hidden hand of Zionism is at work behind the scenes.

Iraq and Afghanistan? Nothing to do with oil, WMD, or 9/11. It's all about the Zionists and their crazy NWO agenda.

Iran / Iraq war? 8 years of senseless violence between a crazed murderous dictator and a religious nut job? Wrong - it was the Zionists!

Gang violence? Urban poverty? Religious intolerance? Government corruption? Waste? War? Famine? Disease? Swine Flu? There's a very simple cure to all these human failings - Blame the Joos! Then it ceases to be your problem and becomes their problem. Genius!

So now we have the latest act of deplorable evil which bears all the hallmarks of the Zionists - football violence! Now I always thought that this phenomenon was the result of an incendiary cocktail of angry young men, tribalism, testosterone and (sometimes) alcohol - but no! It turns out I was wrong all along. In fact football violence is also the Joos' fault. Who'd of thunk it?

World Cup

In the build up to the world cup qualifier between Algeria and Egypt everyone could smell trouble. Everyone knew it was going to kick off. The local media made sure of it with seditious and agitating headlines.

Sure enough, when the match took place it turned nasty. The Algerian team bus came under attack from 200 angry stone-throwing Egyptian youths in Cairo. After the match 32 people were hurt in violent attacks, and Egyptian business in Algiers were pillaged.

Reading through these pages it seems like a clear cut case of nationalism and intolerance gone mad. But now the dust has settled and people have had a chance to think about, it's clear who was behind this violence. It couldn't possibly be the fault of the Algerians. Or the Egyptians. Or the media. There was only one possible explanation - the Zionists were behind it! In fact, in the mind of the Egyptian ambassador Ahmad Al-Ghamrawi it goes further even that than - football itself is a Zionist conspiracy to keep Arabs fighting each other!

Now sarcasm and irony aside, I do find this a disturbing mindset. He mentions that Europe is becoming more united, and even Africa appears to be on the road to political unity (really? Under Ghadaffi?), and yet the "Arab world" remains divided and locked in internal struggle. This is a valid observation, and one can understand the sense of frustration - although he should also remember that European "unity" has only come about after centuries of warfare and slaughter on an industrial scale. But instead of looking at the root causes of this problem he lays the blame firmly at the feet of Zionism, the US and the West.

One hopes that the average person on the street watching this would think he's a crack pot. But I suspect that this is a fairly mainstream view in those parts of the world, and will become a rallying cry in years to come.

You are spelling Jew wrong. But at least you got Zionist right. Zionists define themselves as Zionists. We do not do it for them.

Actually, people like the Egyptian ambassador define who Zionists are. Zionists are the "other" that in the view of his ilk have caused all of the problems in the Arab world; the real culprit is a mixture of technological progress, oil grabs and a feudal / tribal mentality. You can't change the first two as they're a fact of life, but you can change the third with decent education. But that costs money, which could be better spent on buying football teams, penthouse apartments, hookers and big golden shiny things.

Oh and if you live in Europe, the US or Canada then you're a Zionist too.

Real quick and to the point. JEWS are not bad. JEWS are not equal to zionists.

I don't know about other things but this is "true instigating unrest in Iran," not only being done by Israel but also USA. I can provide you with sources and links confirming all this if you further would like to discuss it.

The 'Zionist' dream may be of world domination but at the moment they are only working towards propaganda campaign hoping for war towards Iran and extermination of Palestinian race and land.

Well I'm not Jewish and since you are applying the label to me I think the onus is on you to provide a definition.

Tell me, does lumping everyone who has different political opinions to you together and giving them a label make it easier to hate them? Or does it make it easier to get other people to hate them?

Or is it just easier because your mind cannot grasp the complexity of human thought and opinion?

Agree with you on that . It is not all people who are Jews or all people of Israel to be blamed for it but certain right wing extremist in Israel politics who force the zionist policies in Israel and the Israeli Govt. works towards it.

Israeli's great Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was not a Zionist. He was actually working towards a peace process when he was assassinated by right-wing Israeli radical Yigal Amir, who was opposed to Rabin's signing of the Oslo Accords. The Zionist assassinated him and that's when the peace process ended.

In every age and in every society, there must be some incarnation of ee-ville, so the mass of humanity does not have to accept responsibility for itself.

A few examples?

The Romans blamed the Christians and later, the Christians blamed the heathens.

Then there were witches and sorcerers. This was followed by the inquisition and they had heretics at home and barbarians abroad in the new world.

For each rendering of human civilization and each tribal division, there is an outcast, hated subdivision. Zionists (aka Jews) are just one of the latest. If there was a genocide that finally wiped out the Jews, there would be another group devalued to take their place until they were extinguished as well.

By selecting someone to dislike and to blame, we can ourselves move forward in life unfettered by the weight of responsibility for the ills of our existence. And while this ignorant prejudice does nothing to solve the problems that so vex us, it does offer a distraction... like watching a football game against a hated rival opponent.

It's all part of the human condition; one that tells us that clearly, we have not yet arrived to a point where we can be trusted to anything more than this small rock in a far corner of the universe.

Ironically, it is we as a race, in the greater scheme, who are collectively the ones to be loathed and kept at a distance.

Out of interest if Israelis / Zionists have earned the title of The New Nazis, having fought a three-week defensive war in Gaza a year ago, who do you compare the US and allies to, who have been fighting two offensive wars for the last 8 years which have claimed about 200 times the number of civilians casualties (and counting)?

Or what about Sri Lanka, who according to many estimates killed about 20,000 civilians during their offensive against the LTTE earlier this year?

Are they like Super Nazis or something? Are we going to have to invent a whole new evil word to describe them?

I have always said the same about Bush and his admin alongwith his poodle Tony Blair and his admin. They should be tried in International Criminal Court for their war crimes and crimes against humanity and should be prosecuted upto full extent. I never implied that you were anything other than a pot stirring instigator. I do not lump varying opinions or individuals into groups and hate them.
