New goat flu outbreaks in Netherlands, 6 killed

news.xinhuanet.com

BEIJING, Dec. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- A new epidemic goat flu (or called Q-fever) has struck the Netherlands since last week.

An estimated 2,300 people have succumbed to Q-fever this year in the country and six have died.

According to Dutch experts, Q-fever is caused by bacteria released when pregnant goats or sheep have spontaneous abortions.

A relative study shows that many animals can carry this kind of bacteria, but contact with infected goats is believed to be the main source of human infections.

The Dutch government said Thursday it planned to slaughter all pregnan

Oh, No! Not the dreaded Goat Flu!

What is this world coming to!

"Q-fever is caused by bacteria released when pregnant goats or sheep have spontaneous abortions."

Go Netherlands! (fortunately my ancestors left there 350 years ago)

" The Dutch government is researching whether an Australian human vaccine not yet approved in Europe could be used in the Netherlands. "

Yea, stick them Dutchies with the virus/vaccine, serves 'em right for trying to stick us with AGW!

Whats next, the ass flu? As in jackass or donkey.

I guess you can get the flu from any animal these days.

Hey, it ain't goat flu. It's kid flu. You know, the baby goats and, oh, next it's the baby dolphin flu. Be strong. Don't eat kids.

Either see it all as propaganda, or get scared. Your choice. No matter, you
WILL die eventually. A shot will save me. From what?

Just live and continue to live until it is time for you to not live.

Thank God I have the kid flu, and my kids are safe from it, because I got it first, and they now are immune.

Lil buttheads. Finally they get some illness from me, instead of me always catching what they got.

Q-fever broke out long before H1N1 so it hasn't struck since last week.. It has been going on for a while now.

Oh and Keymaster, thanks for the insanely stupid remarks concerning the dutch, really appreciate it.

Thanks for the insults, and thanks for making fun of a disease much more serious than the Swine Flu.

The region where I live is contaminated, I am currently awaiting lab results to determine if I have it.

Right now I'm on anti-biotics for a suspected pneumonia, but there is a chance it is Q-fever.

I guess it's not your problem.

It's not a flu. It's not a virus. It's airborne bacteria.

Go Netherlands! (fortunately my ancestors left there 350 years ago)

Good riddance!

You must be one proud American, crapping on your heritage.

Thanks, and I will.

I'm not that ill though, just a pain on the chest and back with inhaling.

It's probably not Q-fever, I'll know in a few days.

And jeah, there's always bad apples. I'm not one to generalize.

What´s up with the hate towards the dutch? As if they hate you americans or something.

Hate the governments, not the people living under them..

The American Dream, It's time to wake up!
Most Americans are infected with a disease called arrogant ignorance.
I guess my ancestors were glad your ancestors left my country.
I wonder what you perception of the Netherlands and the rest of Western Europe is.

BTW the Netherlands has had many plagues, the bird flu, Foot-and-mouth disease, swine pest, mad cow disease and now, Q-fever. In my opinion these are generated diseases.

Ok, I'm gonna throw this out there..no matter whether it's swine flu or goat flu or whatever kind..(Originally Flu jumped from ducks..), it's not the virus itself that worries me, which has obviously been around forever.
WHY ARE WE ALL OF A SUDDEN lacking sufficient immunity?
Immunity builds up over time/exposure..to almost everything. We evolve that way and even vaccines are designed that way.
So WHAT is wrong here?
Do not fear the virus..it is not what is making you ill.

Huh, I live just a puddle jump away here in the UK and I have never heard of this. I've been to Holland quite a few times too.

I missed Santa's parade through Amsterdam this year damnit! the most politically incorrect parade in the World. I love it!

That's not Santa, it's Sinterklaas

Q-fever was an issue before H1N1 so I'm surprised it isn't mentioned in the UK.

That's it, I was wracking my brains trying to remember what you call him!

And what are those little, round biscuit things that are handed out to the crowd? They are delicious and you just can't get them over here

I've gotta pop over to Helmond in the new year, so if it's a bit bad over there at the moment, I might hear something about it then.
