ATS label all Global Warming threads as HOAX

Just because it's not warming, doesn't mean that climate isn't changing more drastically than in the past.

And if you think that humans should keep using resources and disregarding the environment like they do, because you think it isn't hurting anything, then you are a freaking idiot.

While I agree that man made global warming has not been proven I dont think it should be labelled a hoax as of yet. We simply dont have enough data to give an indication wether its a natural or man made event. Meteorological observational data doesnt go back far enough to prove either one correct, and while it is true that the data was manipulated (my organisation is one of the departments that had emails in this), it still doesnt mean that its a hoax.

It's not done because they don't assume linear dependency. We know for a fact via basic chemistry that CO2 is a causative agent..

Yes, let's just ASSUME that we just happen to be in a "period" where the weather grows warmer.. you know, those things that happen every 10 or 20 thousands years. Ignoring the fact that this time, and early at that, it coincides with the industrial growth of our world, pouring tons of CO2 into the air.

I mean.. even though there is really no proof either way, let's just make that leap, and say heck.. it's probably just NATURE doin' it's thing! It's just our planet at stake. Our kids won't mind if we gamble their future on the fact that some politician or company might be benefiting from this. Seeeing this once formerly beautifull world go to crap is appalling!

Most live in a big city and dont experience it anyway.

This does give me hope however!
By the level of denial exhibited by the Americants,
it shows some peeps do actually have a conscience!

Facing up to it and taking some responsibilty for our greedy ways
is something entirely different obviously.

If it gets everyone to actually give a S*** about how they treat the planet around them, then I'm all for the hoax of global warming. If it gets the world off of fossil fuels (that may or not have originated from fossils...) then I'm all for it.

Are you really really REALLY surprised that any government is trying to TAX AND CONTROL. It's what they do. They look at something then ask how they can tax and control it. If they cant they make a law against it.

Just because there is a group of greedy liars that want to tax and control everything, and make money off of fear, doesn't mean it is not a real threat!

We have noticed significant weather changes, and droughts, in local areas since the industrial revolution.

We are messing with our weather! It is not that difficult for humans to effect the weather!

Stop listening to scientists, and do the thinking for your self!

I have seen species migration, longer growing seasons, stronger
and more erratic winds, also extreme cold and warm temperatures.
Invasive non territorial species are increasing also.

Increasing erratic weather in general, and more powerfull storms.
Increasing animal extinctions and just the increasing haze in the once
beautifull mountain sky are only some of the changes that I have
witnessed first hand over just a few decades....

I thought that one of the principles that ATS stood for was to question second hand information, and make up your own mind by looking at the facts.

I'm saddened to see so many people running like lemmings to swallow the story that global warming is a hoax on the basis of reports from shills of the powers that be. I'm not sure how much more clear it can be, but big oil, big coal, and a wide range of other industries don't want it to be true because it if is, it threatens their economic hegemony and we poor plebeians may actually no longer have to depend on them.

Before you adopt either extreme position because of your political predilections, why not go look at the data yourself. Look at the numbers, look at the photos in their totality. I have using my own training as a scientist. My conclusion is that the earth is showing evidence of long term global warming. There is also enough evidence to suggest that the massive amounts of pollutants that we have been pumping into the environment are having a exacerbating effect. My concern is that even if global warming itself is not man made, we may have damaged some of the capability of the ecosphere to respond and adapt to the changes.

Also remember, that yes the earth has gone through global warming before and has survived, and will still be here millennia from now even with extreme global warming. The problem is that our civilization is not nearly as robust and adaptable and we may not survive significant global warming no matter what its cause.

There is a saying that we should remember "Do not ascribe to malice what can be explained by stupidity." In my lifetime I have worked with many scientists, some were brilliant, many were competent and some were were totally inept. Often we fix data because we suspect that the way in which it was collected has bias it and we are trying to remove errors that we can identify that we put into it, like having a set of measurements from a device that we discover was calibrated incorrectly. We also use lots of "tricks" a term I have used often but always to mean something along the lines of "I learned this really neat trick for making sure your suits are not wrinkled at the end of the day."

ATSers, think for yourselves! Use your eyes and brains to find out the truth for yourselves and don't be let around by those that would sell you manufactured conspiracy in order to advance their own agendas, not matter who they are.

I will admit that I only read some of the emails. It seemed like there was a little spin, but nothing to show a great conspiracy. If the world is cooling, as those on the other end suggest, why is the ocean water warmer than ever? Why haven't I seen snow in years? Why are glaciers receding? Why does Kotzebue Alaska have less snow and ice? If it is so cool, why then are these things so readily apparent to me discarded?

I am certain that someone has a scientific explanation and as I am not a climatologist I long to hear from one.
