This thread is, by my proclamation, a dead horse.
Believe what you want folks, but this will get nowhere, just like all the fake birth certificates, Orly's nonsense and all the other birther baloney.
Yeah, big conspiracy! Or maybe some folks are just reality challenged!
Bye!

renewal of provisions is not the same as renewal of all the patriot act. which had a sunset clause that dumped most of the provisions.

the ones that are kept are in keeping with good sense really if you look at it.

I mean, if you wanna act like a jerk to a cop, then you'll get exactly what your deserve.

If you're involved in terrorism and think the bill of rights protects those activities, think again.

more GOP swill as far as I can see. lol there sure is a lot of substanceless GOP swill these days. Hmmmmn, I wonder why? lol

Actually, from what I understand, there are two bills in regards to the Patriot Act, and only one allows certain aspects to expire. The second bill is the one that Obama wants, and it retains all of the exact provisions, but only with some "tweaking" as it is called.

It is my understanding both bills will be combined, and then voted on, and the Democrats are very angry that Obama is supporting any of it.

Yeah more GoP swill.

Authority to Spy on Americans Unclear as Patriot Act Expires
House Defies White House and Renews Two of Three Expiring Provisions

Two differing bills passed by the House and Senate judiciary committees in recent weeks will have to be reconciled in Congress...
(snip)
That timing is unclear. With so few weeks left in the year and the health care debate just beginning in the Senate, it's possible that Congress will first vote for a temporary extension to prevent certain Patriot Act authorities from sunsetting, according to an aide.
(snip)
With full support from the Obama administration, the Senate Judiciary Committee passed a bill last month reauthorizing the law that has in recent years sparked much controversy over rights to privacy protected under the Constitution, with some minor tweaks.
(snip)
In renewing only two of the three sunsetting provisions, the House version has defied the White House, quietly pushing Congress to totally renew its predecessor's law.
(snip)
The House Judiciary Committee voted to allow the Lone Wolf provision to expire, stating that normal procedures for criminal investigations could be used instead; the Senate voted to renew it.
(snip)
"The Obama Administration's support of these reauthorizations will hopefully put an end to the myths and the hyperbole that surrounds the Patriot Act, as it is a needed piece of legislation to keep America and her citizens safe and secure," he said.
(snip)
In recent weeks, the White House gave its blessing to the Senate version, co-sponsored by Judiciary Chairman Patrick J. Leahy, D-Vt., and Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., extending all three provisions without placing as many restrictions as the House version.
(snip)
Critics of President Obama accused him of flip-flopping on his position as a candidate when he voted to renew a law last year allowing the use of wiretaps and gave immunity to telecom companies that cooperated under Bush's warrantless wiretapping program, made public in 2005

God already forgave me...you too. That is why Christ died as I understand it. I am not asking for forgiveness anyway. You need to learn how to spell or maybe take a pill for your megalomania because I never called you the anti-christ. Don't flatter yourself. I think the anti-Christ are all those people who deny Jesus was the Christ. Maybe even you can figure that one out yourself.

You I called an anarchist. Look it up.

What a rather well written reply. It's unfortunate that you failed to realize this is not a grand jury in the legal sense. This is a group of dissatisfied conservatives that got together and made a private organization called the Tennessee Grand Jury. It has absolutely no legal basis in any American court.

Why can't citizens just call each other up and form legally binding grand juries? Well, maybe the founding fathers didn't want citizens in the US constantly fearing witch hunts if they didn't tow the majority line.

And another thing, why do you people keep falling for the same tried-and-failed PR tactic every birther story employs?

When you read a story saying, Patriot X has gotten to Point B in Trial! Get ready for impeachment!, you can go ahead and write the story off. I can tell you right now that the major players in this conspiracy are there for the revenue and not the mission.

And you are absolutely correct Gecko -- at least in regards to the 'grand jury' from the OP.

The point was more along the lines of setting a poster straight on congressional powers relating to treason, impeachments, and a 'real' grand juries.

Apologies, if you can not discern my post. What i mean is that this charade in Tennessee is about the color of Obama skin, not the man he is underneath. Shall i clarify further, or does this suffice?

Wouldn't black /African/Kenyan/Democrats/Republicans/Independents be
tickled pink that Obama was born in Kenya/Africa?
Where is the black support?
This is not about race. The guy is half white race.

My question is, why as an American wouldn't you want to know the truth.

I recall Chavez saying at the podium smelling like sulfur after Bush spoke.

Now Chavez wants relations with Obama. The same is happening with most "communist" countries!

How stupid are people to fall into this "union"/communist" control?!

Our forefathers are rolling in their graves. In the last 50+ years this entire country was set up for this with the elite and the Central Bank/Union/Communist control. I remember when a union was called the Mob and the way our elected officials ignore us all, I would now say that is a fact!

You can all keep sleeping, but when you wake up - you will not have rights/freedom or an American way of life!

It has been chiseled away while you slept!

This is entirely correct. All one needs to do is look at the Presidential appointees since the murder of JFK.
A name change or mis- representing their origin of birth is no biggy for these people. They are connected to communism through birth or marriage in most cases. Carefully check their ancestry.
Spooks stay away from this topic. Marxism/Communism/Zionism

“Treason is a charge invented by the winners as an excuse for hanging the losers.” Benjamin Franklin.
The President of the United States of America committed treason? This is news for me, and this is a serious charge. If you consider that the act of Treason is the only crime in the Constitution of the United States of America that is specifically outlined, to include what is considered as such: Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.
So this guy really can not be expected for it to stick, or he would have to provide 2 witnesses to that effect.
Now it can be states that not even the President of the United States of America is above the law, as stated in the court case, People of the United States of America vs. Richard M. Nixon, in which that was proven in the Supreme Court and eventually led to the impeachment of President Nixon and his removal from office.
So this will be interesting to watch what happens and how it unfolds.

Of course we take the fact Obama is not a US born citizen who is by law able to hold office very seriously!

Reason:
It would open the door for say, pot smoking, steroid injecting Austrian dual citizen Arnold Schwarzenegger to become President!

A man that has said from his own mouth that 90% of people need to be told what to do!

A man who has said he has dreamed of ruling people and a Nation!

If Obama can do it, then it opens the door for others which is the reason it is "law"

To ignore it, is to ignore the law. We have had enough political problems and trouble with our so-called elected leaders in the last 8 years.

If he was born in Kenya, let him get elected there! If he was born on American soil, then simply show the "real" birth certificate like all of us actually have (not a certificate of live birth which is something entirely different) and this issue case closed.

Why is that so difficult?!

The fact that he "Obama" has fought to keep everything quiet says quite the opposite of him being American born and able to hold the office of President.

[edit on 30-11-2009 by arizonascott]

This is very clear. A simple request to prove who you are and where you come from MR. Presedent. All citizens have the right to know this information. No one should even have to file a law suit.

I'm sure I'll get the typical "right wing nut job" label for this...but here it goes.

If I were to run for President, one of my first concerns would be what from my past would be dug up and thrown in my face...and my family's. Would they find out I cheated on a test, embellished on a resume, had a DUI, etc., etc., etc. Would my past errors make my decision to run a "non-starter"?

And I would ask this of everyone thinking of running for any political office...and maybe even for any position (rock star, actor, etc.) where you would be famous.

So I offer this thought. If I understand that my past matters and if I contend that everyone's past matters for such a position, for a new job, etc. And if we all understand that we have to at least answer questions about past errors...why not Obama? Why should he be excluded from what we all know is important to a significant portion of the American public? I don't think he should. I don't think it should take a moment of the President's time to address such questions, unless (or until) the answers demand clarification...but...they are questions that need to be answered. And many of the questions are simple to answer, unless someone is trying to hide something.

Unless someone is trying to disguise WHO they are...they should be ready, willing and able to stand to some level of scrutinization (is that a word?) by the people electing them and to whom they represent.
