The level of ignorance is some of the posted replies to this feed are staggering. Most of us "Westerner's" take mobile phones and digital cameras, (especially models that can produce beautiful clean images at 2am in the morning) for granted, you forget. Hundreds of millions if not billions go without food and water on a daily basis!

Hey there, just type in Web Bot, South America in the search box on the top right of your screen. Its not reliable, i just browse the topics when im stuck for things to delve into. And on that basis, didnt Timewave just peak? Anyway, i just read one or two posts and it seems we are a year early. It suggests there will be a huge increase of sightings in South America during 2010. Also we need to keep in mind that a lot of Alien films/tv programes are out at the moment that apparently raise awareness of E.T. Phenomena. Not suggesting that this is anything to do with the current topic but, on that basis its pretty obvious that there will be a growth in reported sightings world-wide, let alone just South America. Have a look.

To me this report seems unbalanced, It reads like a story more than a credible report.

The “cigar-shaped UFO” (as it is known to specialists) crossed the Saltan night suspended under a spongy ceiling of clouds, and according to some of the numerous witnesses, “with intermittent, flashing lights and a fixed red beacon”

If only SOME of the unnamed witnesses report seeing flashing lights then what did all the other people witness and why is it not reported? There is a total lack of sited quotes from people who were there. The reporter spends more time describing the weather conditions than describing the actual UFO sighting. The area cant be all that poor if people had land lines that stopped working and owned freezers for their ice cream and cold drinks. There is also no indication of how fast the thing was moving or how high it was, these are all things that real witnesses like to report. It doesn't even say who these witnesses reported this sighting to or how he found out about it.

Think about this .. how would anyone know there was over 7000 witnesses? Did 7000 people report a sighting? It all seems like 3rd or 4th hand info at best or maybe even a hoax.

Actually, that was my impression as well.

But.... let's see what emerges during the next week or so.

What's amazing to me is that 7,000 people supposedly saw this object, yet no pics or video have surfaced of it. This is not like it should be. Most south american sightings have either been video taped or pictured.

Where's the Beef ?

Could any of you making the repeated comment of "No video or picture? C'mon" comments read the thread?

As far as cell phones, if they don't have cell phone SERVICE, they probably don't own cell PHONES as there would be no point. As I said, we have people with international phones who can never use them, whenever we work in smaller towns or third world countries. They have to end up using a service like skype, and that's if they have Internet service, which again, they often don't.

In a small soybean town, there is a great chance there is next to no computers, ergo, no digital cameras (no way to offload them), so the only photos would be from good ol' fashioned film cameras, or video cameras, which again, are probably luxuries there.

I'm not saying this isn't grade A bologna. I'm saying that assuming that lack of photos or pictures at 2 AM in a small third world farming town is hardly "proof" that it did not happen. If this turns out to be accurate, I think it's more likely that actually had no easy quick way to get video or photos, than the entire population deciding to make up some fun UFO story to screw with people.

As far as the Phoenix Lights goes, in 1997, there were most certainly cell phones WITH camera, but even more so, digital cameras, video equipment was common by then, and so on. It wasn't in the dark ages. And again, a city with a massively large population in comparison only managed a couple videos. I'd say the current technology in a small town like this one, is probably behind where Phoenix was in 1997. If those two videos had not been done, would the Phoenix Lights be a myth?

I swear, too many folks here put far too little credence in eyewitness testimony.

Yeah.. After reading this a few times again, im starting to see the inconstancy in the story. Did all those people publicly come forward? Or were they just all moaning/complaining about the power-cut..? And like a earlier post, there seems to be only one account of the event. I know its early, but more info is needed to help form a proper opinion on the matter. Although i have been thinking that maybe the U.F.O dissabled the power on purpose so that it was seen easier because thered be less light pollution since its 2am. But im just speculating again.

No video........So all we have is "eye witness" evidence....Sorry but that just doesn't cut it.

Me and my girlfriend just saw 10 UFO's, one landed in our back garden, past wind and then flew off again.

Honest, there are like 7 houses around us and it made everyone switch there lights on.

I go past wind every day.. Right now my aircon is on.. Whew, windy..

Now when I pass wind, or when my cat has passed wind, Whoah, thats smelly.

Moreso my cat. He's just had his leg amputated and has been trapped indoors a lot while the wound heals, and has a really bad case of the runs.. Poor bugger.

Love people who ridicule so smartly while missing the so obvious.

Ahhh.. Cest la vie.

But oh, how that boy is winning friends and influencing people left, right, and centre!

And now, he's decided to take on internos!!! It reminds me of the monkey teasing the anaconda!

PS. my aplologies to monkeys for using them in my above analogy!

It would be super-great if someone associated with ATS (who speaks Spanish or can hire an interpreter), even just a regular member/poster, had the time and money to fly down there and investigate this, interviewing multiple witnesses and checking their consistency, sincerety, body language etc. I'd LIKE to believe this incident was a test by advanced, enlightened people/beings for us to have faith in the testimony of our fellow human beings who are clearly normal and decent enough. We should, to the best of our ability and within reason, put an end to the reactionary, arrogant "pics or it didn't happen!" mentality.

MSM still haven't picked it up.

I'd feel better if I could find a an MSM report of the incident.

I know that doesn't necessarily mean much to some, but if this is an exceptional siting a la Stephenville, then you would think the MSM would be on to it in a short period of time.

Page 2 I think, I didn't want to say who was making me really want to hit the Ignore button, but meh, no loss if it's known. I try to follow Internos lead and use other means to 'Ignore' someone. as he says there is more than one way to do it.

Your post just made me smile, I replied to the same post and reworded it half a dozen times, then thought Nah, pointless - you said what I was thinking. I don't think I've seen said poster make a single constructive post yet. Reminds me of someone banned last year to be honest.

Haha, indeed Whiskas, especially the stuff in a casserole form, all he does is eat the sauce - man... It's pretty sad watching him do is business and forget he hasn't got a leg there anymore as he tries to cover it up rowing his shoulder as if he still has a leg. Funny tho, because he's a heck of a lot better than I'd expected. Talk about pong tho, yikes!

I need to throw in something on topic here, (insert subliminal on topic statement jedi mind trick to fool the mods)

Haha - well I actually have five cats - all strays/orphans, so you have my sympathy already!

My cats have not seen any reports regarding the Argentina siting being discussed on this thread (that's for the mods)

PS. What happened to his leg? Argentina UFO

He sure is, it's one thing to have an opinion but its another to present it in a way that ensures offense to the person your replying to. I know I've made some unreasonable posts in the past, but I honestly do try to be fair in my judgement.

Some people just seem intent on being snarky.. To have a go at Johnny, then Internos, who both put forward reasonable and valid posts, ugh, must.avoid.ignore.button!!!!

Haha Im fairly sure the monkeys would be incensed at the comparison!!! how rude !!

Hey again. Just did a quick bit of looking for more on this. Funny thing is i found a VERY similar story on Wikipedias list of ufo encounters. Dated the 26th of december 1988. In Argentina. Buenos Arier. 7500 witnesses. It was in Villa Urquiza heading south east towards Gen paz ave. Also seen on radars... Too similar...? Very. :-\

I think the MSM would be more open to an item on it if there were videos or pictures of it, and then they'd play the x-files music over some jesty version of a so called news report.. At least thats how it works here with most News (entertainment) shows.. Everytime the Sunrise show with meathead and dopey, err I mean Kochie and Mel, air a topic on Aliens/UFO's it's always done in a way to avoid any seriousness.

But still, I agree, with so many allegedly seeing it, there should be some article about it.

One to keep an ear/eye open for anyway.

I just hope that in days to come there is evidence for it, that shows something at least, plausible. We all know that even the best evidence these days is never going to be good enough, but the numbers combined with footage can really up the anti !!
