We are under assaut, not by men with guns, ships, missles, planes, but rather men armed with financial tools.

What would we do if we were attacked by a huge military force that threatened our very existence? We would do like our Parents and Grandparets did in WW2. We would focus all of the nations resources on defeating the enemy.

This is how we must act in order to defend ourselves from the financial assault we face from the Chinese and OPEC. We must sacrifice as our forefathers have done in order to remain free.

We need to do whatever is necessary to win. If we must raise taxes then we should ALL be wiling to pay as long as it goes to pay off the debt and shore up our financial house. If we must take pay cuts in order to get more jobs in this country we must ALL take pay cuts, but those who would try to take advantage of that shall be executed for treason.

This is economic war and we must take no prisoners. We should use every resource we have to win. We must drill for our own oil, dig up our other natural resources, and we should do it with haste and clean up the mess later. We are in a war for our very survival.

We must focus our smartest minds on the next waves of technology but commit to only building those new products in the USA and to go after any company or nation that tries to copy our ideas.

We must win at any cost! If we must get nasty then lets get nasty. If our forefathers could die in the trenches or kill the enemy by any means necessary then we should be willing to do whatever we have to.

This is a rallying cry to fight for your freedom before it is handed over to the rest of the world.

I welcome ideas on ways we can win this economic war we have been in for years. We are loosing today, but how can we turn it around and come out on top?

We must become the economic powerhouse we once were and we must learn to live within our means as a nation and as individuals.

EDIT TO ADD: By economic war I do not mean bombs and guns. I mean we do everything in our power to out compete them.

I agree, and I'd include India too. Even if that only means pulling back our jobs and making some of our own "stuff" again to create more new jobs. It's really the only way.

What are you talking about?

America put herself in this situation with years of mismanaged budgets and borrowing money from China.

China was minding it's own business until AMERICA decided to outsource jobs to them along with India, and then when we realized that they couln't keep jobs anymore because of the outsourcing, they borrowed billions from China.

China is keeping the US afloat right now. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. You should be waging a war against your government and the corrupt offficials who got you into this mess in the first place.

First and foremost we need to put the federal government on a starvation diet. Stop congress from spending money on foolishness. Buy American goods at every chance, and limit the purchase of foreign goods to the bare necessities.
WE are not the problem. An out of control spending juggernaut we call government is.

If we purchase American goods exclusively there will be more jobs created, simple as that.

You may want to expand your declaration to include the rest of the BRIC countries. They will or are already waging economic warfare against both our countries.

Although it looks like they are just copying what Friedmanomics dictated was the best way to control countries. The US used it very affectively for the better part of a half century.

Great point.. WW3! A global economic war. I say we all take the gloves off and see who can come out on top. Who wants to come out on top of the economic pile.

Just like war, the ones who can declare it will be the ones living...

Same goes for this.

That's pretty much the only thing that's going to save us. Instinct tells us all that. It's logical. It's not really all that complex. But the people with the largest personal stake in this...the corporations and those in government under their control will tell us fairytales from now until the next century about how catastrophic this would be to the world economy.

It wouldn't be. Just as it wouldn't have been had we just allowed the mismanaged and crooked banks to fail. The more they make thing sound complex and scary, the more people just throw up their hands and believe this is so and feel powerless. People need to stop listening to the fairlytales and use their common sense and logic again and take matters back into their own hands.

If that means buying American (or English or Irish or Canadian) only, then do it. Every little bit helps. Do without something if you have to or create a demand locally again. Small steps can lead to big results. Join or start groups to think locally. Educate people. And of course put pressure on the "government" in any and all ways you know how.

Agreed on the starvation of the Federal government.. I think we shoud choose to limit where we purchase from as individuals but each products should have a giant sticker saying where it was made.. and where its components came from. The reason I dont think we should be forced to buy American is that just promotes complacency and what we need to learn to do is to make the very best products at the very best prices in the world.

To the OPer what the hell are you talking about? Don't blame China for our economic problems. BLAME CORPORATE AMERICA AND OUR GODDAMN GOVERNMENT! It's not the Chinese fault. They are only taking advantage of opportunity. My god! It seems the only thing Americans are good at nowadays is whining and pointing fingers. Multinational corporations are the ones that sold out America. Congress and the Presidents of the past 50 years are the ones who've been selling out the American people. NOT CHINA! We are money junkies addicted to debt and credit. Boycott all the companies that offshore US jobs. And for god's sake quit investing in WallStreet and the same corporations that keep undermining the American middle class.

How many people who bitch and moan and whine are SHAREHOLDERS? The average shareholder is part of the problem. US corporations and multinational corporations only care about profit because they have to satisfy shareholders. I pulled my money out of Wallstreet a long time ago. I'm young and can find other ways to save for retirement than investing in the ponzi scheme we call WallStreet.

US companies can't expect to make the very best products in the world anymore when our government stifles innovation with taxes and other crap. Plus look at our educational system in this country. You think 15-20 years from now the kids in US high schools are going to be leading the world in technology and innovation when they can barely do math and science in elementary school? Yeah right! Go look at MIT and see what type of kids are in the majority there.............MINORITIES i.e. Asians and Indians.

China is not keeping the U.S. afloat. China is keeping the corporment bigwigs who bet their bottom dollar on China making THEM huge profits afloat. What you're saying here is that you give up, because this is going nowhere good, and it's been going there since the Reagan years.

I agree we did this too ourselves but China took the ball and ran with it. Now its time to go get our damn balls back.

China does feed us a little but sometimes it is good to bite the hand off that feeds you so you can learn how to feed yourself again.

This is why it must be war. War allows the government to change the rules. They strip back all of this candy ass regulation about the evironment and safety and get down to the hardcore capitalism that made us the leaders of the world.

China enslaving and selling their people is their issue. If you think about it this way, we are supporting this enslavement by buying their products, no?

I don't believe anyone is saying declare war on the people directly. This is economic. CEO to CEO if you will.

We're in trouble here. Trouble as in the people in this country are becoming just like the people in China who are enslaved. This is something that needs some serious consideration if we're to get out of trouble. China could do the same.

And again, declaring "war" can be everything from buying American to gearing up our kids to actually compete again (after having been told LIES for decades that they're not competitive) and wooing and keeping education dollars from said evil corporations HERE instead of sending them to say India (IBM builds $1B university in India ring any bells?)

Declaring "war" can be forcing change in these so-called tax hits.

I see your point. Maybe we have always been in an economic ware and now we just find ourselves cornered. We must take a new stand, take off the gloves, and come out with a new vigor to stand victorious.

I welcome any info you have to add and thanks for participating.
