As for being written off as a nut if you start your own independent medium, you will only be written off as a nut if you act like a nut. Don't give people a reason to write you off as a nut. Make your appeal reasonable and level headed and you will slowly build a following of loyal readers. If you say things like, "git yer gun and follur me," you're right, you'll get nowhere.

dont give the american public too much credit now.... they are in large a minority, and in large not speak english can good. and most of the intelegent women who are smart are frekin fat and have no means of getting off the couch. so with that said you are looking at only the healthy intelegent men turning off the TV, that is wat.... 5% of america?
jk ok mabye 10%.... the majority has no choice but to watch wat the media feeds them because that is the only source they can comprehend! my parents watch fox news....its as if they dont know bill o'reilly is satan himself, i dont have the heart to tell them.....

Here are some more examples of how the media twist things for their agenda. Remember what is not reported is as harmful as what is.

All this indicated is that different channels have differing views and differing opinions as to the news value of a given story vs another.

I cannnot extrapolate that "ALL MEDIA" has "ONE ADGENDA"
in fact, the internet is the perfect example of diversity of opinion. even tho the internet is FAR more prone to bias and mis-information than any network.

the media is so frekin bias do you really think they let just any one get on the TV? they will only let on the people that serve their interest. the internet is so grand that everyone and their mothers have a voice. im sure if they let osama bin laden on fox news he would have some really relevent and informative things to say.

As a journalist for +10 years in TV, Id remind you that the media follows the $$$ first. The media gives what the viewers demmand...as determined thru the ratings system which is a gauge of who watches what....You only have yourselves (the public) to blame for not tuning into better programming....it just doesnt get any ratings and hennce has no $$$ value to the broadcaster....so we get more "Idol" shows and less "60 min".

CBS's Dan Rather interviewed Saddam before the invasion, Im sure if Osama could gaurentee his and a news crews safety, they would put him on as soon as they could interview him.

The airwaves are supposed to be public domain. The fact that these corporations with government licenses are allowed to decide what can and cant be shown on the tv and heard on the radio is a huge problem. The media needs to be overthrown, or more specifically, the Airwaves need to become a public domain again so anyone can broadcast anything they like. keep in mind the internet is like that. You can post what you like where you like (obviously with consequences), but for how long. How long untill they control who can and cant set up a web site? Just wait and see.

Try watching PBS...or your local public access channel....
Ohhh but its booring crap....hmm why is that....
because it makes no money...why is that
because the public WONT TUNE IN TO IT!!!
Blame the media for YOUR viewing habits!!!! For giving you the kinds of programming that people actually watch....

Want to support public access tv? GIVE THEM YOUR $$$.

I as a broadcaster am also concerned with media monopolies and their "censorship" of information, choice of programming and "profits before integrity" approach, one that makes the media lean to more conservative stance as they dont want to lose $$$ from being sued.
But as private companies, they have the right to represent themselves(thru their programming/style) any way they choose...tho i believe they should do better as renters of the publics trust.

i beleive the flow of information is rather narrowed by the monstrosity that is the NSA. call me a nut cake but i think that fox news has the biggest information flow and all others underneath it get the left overs. intense amounts of research go into uncovering storys, and if they do strike paydirt i am certain there is someone there to tell them they cant go any further.... you must realize if bin laden actually did get onto fox news....they would edit him to sound like a crack head. i know that there are so many news they all have different sources but those sources also have a source and those sources also have a source which is some one unidentifiable and with some kind of agenda to propagate(i dont know if thats the right word...)

Again as a working tv journalist...i have NEVER seen ANY one from the government telling anyone to censure anything nor write in a specified manner. In fact we usually hunt them...

If you want to help the media be more responsible with the public trust...demmand more than soundbites from them.

Just as a point of discussion think about something like the olympic park bombing. When the Media took and destroyed that poor security guard and made him out to be just the biggest slug in the world with no supporting evidence, that opend my eyes. How many stories do we see as real that are not that destroy peoples lives. When every editor has the ability to alter content of a story the story quickley changes.

Well I know you're going to hate me for this fact finder and even before the morning come.

The problem isn't the government or the media. Since both are, more or less, a reflection of us - you and me.

Look in the mirror. You're looking at a very small part of the government. I know you maybe mad as hell for me saying that but if you cool down and just take a little time to be honest with yourself you'll have to admit its frustration you're feeling.

Feelings aren't right or wrong; good or bad; they just are. They are yours and yours alone. No one can make you feel anytime. Your feeling are YOUR feelings. And sometime they make no sense at all. A happy thing happens and some folks get sad and cry. How's that? It don't make sense....... no need to explain why they are........they just are. Period

Oh sure, you make react to something or someone and feel a particular way. But there didn't MAKE YOU FEEL that way; your reaction was the culprit. And even though those feelings belong to us - ours alone and no ones elses - we don't have one lick of control over them suckers. They just keep rolling on all on their own.

Since we both now know that, you have to see what it is that's making yourself get that frustrated feeling.

Is it you hate to have money taken out of the check by someone you don't know and going to some where and spent on something you have no idea of?

Or is it that you see all the damned crazy things that are going on and no matter what you say or do and government nothing that changes things.

Or a little of both?

Isnt it the frustrated feeling that bugging you? And not the government.

No I am not angry because you are right and wrong. The problem is that our politicians lie and cover things up and then make laws so we can not demand the information such as the Clinton Pardons Bush Sr papers ect. And as far as the media what about 911 when there are millions of people world wide not buying the story why does the press not dig deeper? I can accept so much blame for not stepping up to the plate sooner but I too was stuck with mainstream media for so long I did not see the truth.

That's were ya go 'wrong'(not used with a negative connotation or a personal judgment; used as defined in the dictionary; and spoken in a flat voice)............the issue here is NOT about blame.

When the finger goes out, we then loose sight of what the goal is.

Sometimes, its time to take a break because we're tired.....

Other times, it time to change strategies and take another path

And most often its just a matter of maturity and/or wisdom.

Folks arent perfect - God made us that way- so anything people make/construct/whatever has the same problem. Its not perfect. To expect that it will be is a fantasy. Its unrealistic.

Now you make mention of these folks that want their own country because of the way things are.. Well thats a classic and popular myth. Its a psychological principle a way to cope - with a funny name I forget AA was the best to name it and describe it. Its called a Geographic Cure. It goes like this:

A drunk his bottom. He looks at his life and realizes he does not like it. IT HURTS TOO MUCH. Who did this to me? he says and pondering further says, My parents didnt do right by me; my boss is always on my case; the old lay stopped sleeping with me; and those damned blood sucking friend I run with aint doing me no good.

Now if I did not have all this negativity in my lifeall the pressure. I could stop drinking.

So Ill move to Florida so I can stop drinking.

Theres your geographic cure.

Trust me. It does not work. Not too long after taking the cure those same damned problems creep back and hes off the wagon.

So youll fight your fight and win. Now you have your new and special country. Now everythings going to just fineNOT.

But what WILL make things right is called ..

acceptance of the human condition.

Hard work to do so. But it does cure the problem. And best of all, no one has to die. (And thats a real biggie+ for me.)

I think they should have the "Campaign" channel with free time based on a parties percentage of membership nationally, A state and local channel can also be set up this way. If the politicians have anything of substance to say people will watch - if not so be it. It should at the same time be made illegal for anyone to sponsor political advertising on any commercial channel paid or not.

On the commercial channels you would have money taken out of the equation which is a start in the right direction - long term the journalism schools must inject objectivity back into their programs as the central theme rather than a just mentioned nicety.

Ohh stop the whining!!!

the easiest way to control the media is to TURN IT OFF!

you cant, can you? Thats the reason the media is so powerful over you lemmings, is because you cant control your own brains.

Who is to blame? the media for playing the mental bablum they do, or the millions of couch potatos that cant stop their digestion of it, and moreover DEMMAND THESE PROGRAMS!!!

Programming that isnt popular, doesnt make any $$$, and doenst last long.
Every day the viewers "vote" for the programming they want with their remote controls....and the media is happy to give the public what it wants.

Take back America from whom, the media?
Try taking back control of your own brains, actions and responsibillities first.
Only then will you be even remotely ready to hunt bigger game.

I agree with all that was said here. (tho u could of been a bit nicer about it
) It seems to me that our society, at least American society, has become mentally lazy. I mean how many ppl do u know who actually read anymore?
Im not talkin about anyone who has taken the time to read this, but most ppl would rather just have someone on a screen tell them what to think or what to believe. We ,as Americans, seem to have lost our culture (if we ever had any, im not really sure:puz
and our sence of morallity. Now I know ill probly get some # for this, but here goes. The Hip-hop and Pop music/telivision influence I believe has had a huge impact on American youth. Nothing sells anymore unless it contains Sex, Money, Drugs, or Violence. Now, what does that tell you about our society? We believe in things that our meaningless and just give up on anything of importance that requires thought. Untill society can turn off Mtv, stop caring about wich dumb bitch is going to marry joe milloinare, and quit watching ' "true" hollywood story' we will never get out of the downward spiral that we put ourselves into. Lets face it, there is no such thing as a true hollywood story cuz just about everyone in hollywood is a fake or a fraud. Just like the politicians we are forced to vote for, and all their empty promices. But I believe we can take action somehow. Get informed. Do what your doing now and keep researching. Share your information with anyone who will listen. Any action is better than no action. FIGHT THE POWER.

The truth is out there, u just gotta look

I think that a great idea. Write `a proposal and a business plan and run with it..............

It's a hot idea. Sure as hell better then looking at some half naked societal misfits, with to much time on their hands and bosss all too eager to give them long term leave time, eating monkey dung in the jungles of Where Ever......... the MTV like C-SPAN........... WOW

Wow I remember reading about guys like you in Psych. books.
First of all I have very good parents, a vary good job, I wasn't molested or beaten as a child, I do not drink or do drugs and in general I love all people or will at least try . Your comment about how this is not about blame comes from either the 911 commission or the diary of some attorney that tries to get a client off a murder rap because he was spanked as a child. I am sorry but this is about blame, and I along with every other American need to accept our part of that and then make sure that we point the proverbial finger to the corruption that rules or country. I do not need a new country, I need the one that I already love to be what it can without the corruption of our government and media bringing us down.
Just so we can be very clear nobody dies in my thought process either though some may end up in jail violence is never the proper road to travel.
Believe me as a person who has always fought for the underdog and always won I will someday accomplish having a hand in a better America.

Rather then entertaining a discussion of your genealogy and employment history, lets return to your first post to examine the various elements you put forth.

Condensing your argument to its major elements you assert:

The Government (G) is the source of all problems. (P);

Honest Citizens (HC) are plagued by these problems. (P);

That Honest Citizens (HC) needs are few: make an honest living- (MHL); and living in peace with neighbor. (LIP);

Honest Citizens (HC) to solve their problems must revolt. (R);

Honest Citizens (HC) do not have power to oust the government. (G);

Because the Media (M) controls (C) the selection (PTS) and make up of the government (G);

Therefore, the path to solving the problem(s) (P) of Honest People is to oust (R) the Media;

Therefore, with Honest People (HC) in control (C) of the Media (M) and its power of government selection (PTS);

Honest People, seeking and end to their Problems (P) would exercise their control (C) of the Media (M) and its power to determine (PTS) and install a new government. (G)

Therefore, the problems (P) of the Honest People (HP) will be solved.

I believe this is a fair and accurate presentation of the argument you make.

Now can you see the problems of logical this argument creates? And why such an argument is so flawed as to belong to a classification called the wacky class? (TWC)
