And then complain about her sacrifice right? Ignoring the sacrifice of all the american soldiers who are still in Iraq past the the date Obama said he would have the troops out by.

Do you think it is possible that obama could donate 1.4 million dollars toward
the fuel costs it will cost the U.S. tax payers for him to fly overseas to receive
the nobel peace prize? Will the first lady fly a separate plane overseas for
the honors? ^Y^

Something about this unsettles me, but not in the way you'd think. He's painted as a hero, the greatest thing since before sliced bread. But he hasn't really done all that much. We all know that.

Honestly, I think this was a smart move on the Nobel comittee. Why? I'll tell you.
Now, Obama has it embedded in his head that he's the "Peaceinator"™ of today. Now he'll have it on his mind any time he has to make a decision. I believe this will make him think twice about what he does in N. Korea, Iran, whatever it may be.
Who knows, maybe he really did deserve it. Apparently the general public outside of ATS approves of it.
What do I think? I honestly don't know, I don't keep too close tabs on the man. I don't even know what his general intentions are.
Just wanted to get my 2 cents in on this thread.

This.. I have a hard time swallowing....isn't calling Obama Supporters "Obamabots" exactly that? A comment on the intelligence of Obama supporters?
This wasn't saying all Obama supporters are Obamabots. There are Obamabots, Bushbots, McCainbots, etc... Anyone with a 'bot' at the end are the people that will support any particular person no matter what they do. Defend them and support them at all costs no matter what. There are 'bots' on both sides.

the swedish commitee made a political decision: The price is not for what he did, but what he will hopefully do in the future. Like a self-fulfilling prophecy: We give you the nobel peace price and from now on, you must prove yourself worthy. If not, people will make fun of you...
Sounds like a futile hope

Obviously the Nobel commite belives Obama deserves the price. And even if you feel he doesnt, why blame him? It's not his fault he receives one of the worlds most prestigious prices, is it?

My purpose in defending Bush here and there and Obama here and there is not thread/topic-specific but borne from the understanding that the moment a President takes office nowadays, 70% of the world already hate him. Half of those people for him being American, and the other half for him being of the other party.
I would like to hang around and actually explore the pros and cons of him getting a Nobel Prize, but its difficult with all the indignant shouting around by people who always shout around no matter what the topic.
