I love that picture.

Nature can be anthropomorphically very beautiful ...

I saw this picture days ago, but didnt think of putting it here

It is quite depressing, regardless of wether the glaciers are melting due to the natural mechanisms of climate or, due to man made pollutants

Now THAT is wild. I love the detailed features in the formation - the lines by the eyes, the sunken cheek, bushy brow and beard.

A friend of mine walked behind my computer while I was viewing the spectacular photo.
He says 'Oh, Michael Jackson?"
I wanted to barf.
I hit him with my shoe instead.

Awesome pic, thanks for sharing.

looks like sid vicious to me.
so you're tring to suggest that good old mother nature made a mistake in evolution over thousands of years, right?
and on top of it,we can change the face(pun intended)of nature, because we just woke up?
i hope al gore's jet crashes on the houses of people who think that green is anything more than a money making,eco-terrorist scheme.
some people will buy anything

It's like Mount Rushmore for Al Gore, and that stream of melting water, his tears.

Although I do find global warming an issue that must be handled, I do find that many people do not understand the dynamic nature of Earth. 65 million years ago the average temperature was a lot higher than now, the air was also denser, there may not have even been much for ice caps if at all. Although assisted by man, could global warming be part of a galactic cycle? It is bad for us and most current species, but would not new diverse life appear years in the future?

It's sad that some humans are so arrogant as to think that we could alter the earth's climate so dramatically by our presence, or that we could stop it.

I agree, I cant belive we make so much damage in just 100 years...
It is as we Conspiracy dudes know: just a scam for the 'elite' to scam us of more money and stick us with more rules and regulations...

All I know is that temperatures in many areas are getting colder not warmer. I'm still waiting for global warming to hit calif. but instead its doing the opposite.

Well, on a world wild scale this is actually true. However, it still seems on local scales some places are actually warming up. Maybe the poles are warmer then what they once were.

Its hard to say with such a big planet

Barf away - It does look like Michael Jackson. His private funeral is today - how fitting.

and i have yet to see any proof that we are not messing up our planet

Where is the evidence that this glacier melting is being caused by humans?... It is arrogant, and naive to accept the LIES from IPCC, the UN, and the rest of the policymakers, which includes environmentalists in power...

It is particularly worrying that the people who keep yelling "CO2 is going to kill us all" apparenlty have no idea that they are living in a CARBON based world, and CO2 is needed as much as air for ALL living creatures to exist...

The Earth has had at least 7-12 times as much CO2 as now, and forest were bigger, plants and trees thrived, as well as animals on land and sea, yet we are in a time when the Earth is still deprived of CO2, since the Earth has had a lot more atmospheric CO2 than now most of the time it has existed, and we are being told "we are all going to die because of CO2"....

I also wonder why is it that people who own greenhouses have to increase the atmospheric CO2 inside their greenhouses 1,000 ppm and even 1,500 ppm and the yields from their harvests increases dramatically, trees, and plants thrive like never before....

Reducing, or trying to reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere will deprive plants and trees from much needed CO2, at 220ppm atmospheric CO2 plants, and trees fail to produce harvests, fruits, and vegetables at all.

The Earth has only 380ppm of atmospheric CO2, yet the UN, policymakers/politicians, and environmentalists are crying that "the Earth and all living creatures will die becuase of CO2"......

Perhaps tptb have wanted all along for the easily brainwashed to believe that we must give them money to save the planet through taxes, and we must lower the amount of CO2 not only to get richer, but also to lower the amount of plants/harvests we can have...

It is a great way to reduce the population of the Earth.

So what you're saying is that we should pollute more.

"sigh".... Atmospheric CO2 IS NOT A POLLUTANT.....It is needed by all life on the planet, how is it a polutant?....

Are you saying that there is no such thing as man created c02?

Silly me ... I guess we've been helping nature all along by doing so.

And there I was thinking we were being short sighted and selfish.

Snarkiness aside ... you might find this interesting:

empty playgrounds global populations in decline

It's interesting that you believe that global warming is a conspiracy (and it very well may be) but the foundation of the conspiracy, namely that the world is increasingly overpopulating, may be an equal to greater disinfo campaign. There's an irony somewhere in there.

It is called anthropogenic CO2, and just because it exist it doesn't mean it is the cause of global Warming, or Climate Change.

That's what people with greenhouses do to increase or decrease the harvests in their greenhouses, they increase or decrease the atmospheric CO2. The more CO2 the greener, bigger and more harvests the plants and trees produce, and sorry to ruin your party fest but this is a fact.

It has nothing to do with "being selfish and short sighted"....

It is a lovely Pic.....

But it is so Sad we humans think we are more powerful than Nature itself.

The last time there was Global Warming, it resulting in an Ice Age [Gulf Stream being shut down].

HERE IS A FACT for everyone who beleives we humans are at fault:

THERE WERE NO CARS, PLANES, FACTORIES, OIL WELLS ETC 13,000 YEARS AGO!!!!
Get that firmly implanted in your heads and stop peddling TPTB agenda!

Our climate changed drastically some 13,000 years ago and the same thing is happening now....

You really need to look at the Sun, Magnetosphere and Nature....Respect it, it knows what it is doing.

The earth is getting ready to Regulate itself and start a fresh....Just another Cycle!!!!

Peace

Gaia is sad. Next she is going to be mad. Then we are in REAL trouble.

Don't mess with Mama.

i agree, i think pissing the mother off is a bad idea. we are all her children, but we arent playing very nicely with her other children (animals, plants etc) and each other on this planet, and she probably has her limits...

however, even if humans arent causing global warming, for example if it is something to do with our solar system that is causing the warming; then we STILL have a problem to fix becuz we are still polluting the planet too much. So Gaia would still probably be not very happy.

oh and to the persons who thought a sentient glacier was funny, perhaps you wud like to do some research into the interesting properties of water. apparantly, water responds to human output of emotions in certain ways.
plants have also been shown to respond to emotions of shock and fear given off by animals (prawns specifically, in the experiment, which was a bit cruel i think). and people shouldnt boil prawns or lobsters alive, while im mentioning it - how would you like it, if you were a prawn???? another instance of human cruelty to animals; and yet we all expect the aliens to be nice to us. maybe we are just like prawns to them.

QUOTE: Deeper studies into the Nanoworld are ready to shake faith even in the water's simplicity. Just for one fact that it turns out water has memory and understands human emotions and words. link
