Ok, this is off topic but if you hold his Indonesian school records to such high regard, have you considered the fact that they state he was born in Hawaii? Or was that inconvenient to your agenda, so you skipped over it?

Also, what the hell does his religion have to do with it?

Just asking.

In reply to andrewh, yes it does appear that the story has been misrepresented. It is still not clear who decided to replicate and distribute the 'Obama Joker' image around the LA area, but it was probably several individuals, no doubt linked to a right-wing group of some sort.

I don't have a problem with free speech being practiced. If these people want to put posters around, it doesn't bother me at all. However, as an artist myself, when people rip off other people's art for political gain, that pisses me off. I don't think the poster is racist or anything, I just think it's in bad taste because the distributors did not have the permission of the original artist to distribute it in such a manner. The artist even said in the article that he disagrees with the "socialism" caption, saying it's immature.

Did you read the thread? If you had, then you wouldnt' be asking.
It was 'asked' ... 'why THIS POTUS is being questioned'.
I gave the answer ... his murky background.

It sends up red flags to americans when a lawyer-politician, who lies over and over, has a murky background. BH was claiming not to know about the widely circulated school records. I reposted them.

His murky background includes these facts -

- numerous name changes
- numerous out of CONUS residence changes
- numerous religion changes
- numerous citizenship changes
- numerous records being hidden, including birth records

All of these, combined with Obama being caught in many lies, and his status as a typical lawyer-politician, is why he is being questioned in this area. AND as I stated ... he isn't the first POTUS to be questioned about his place of birth and eligibility.

Ok I'll bite, even though this has nothing to do with the topic.

Numerous name changes? Are you referring to the one time in his life when he was enrolled in school in Indonesia under his step-father's last name? How is that 'numerous' again? Also, he was six years old at the time. I don't think he had a say in the matter.

What does changing residence out of the Continental US have to do with anything? He lived in Hawaii for most of his early life...

Numerous religion changes? Are you again referring to the single Indonesian school document that refers to him as a Muslim? Again, he was six years old. I'm pretty sure his step-father (who was a Muslim), just enrolled him under his own religion. Obama has, for the entirety of his adult life, considered himself a Christian. Not that it should matter at all (sadly it does to some people).

He has never changed citizenship. Again, the single document you are referring to is the Indonesian school document which lists him as an Indonesian citizen. You had to be an Indonesian citizen to go to school there, which probably explains why his step-father lied and registered him under his own last name (Soetoro) instead of (Obama). Because he was never an Indonesian citizen. If anything, Obama's deceased stepfather is guilty of falsifying Indonesian documents (which would be up to the Indonesian government to handle). Again, not numerous, but referring to the single (1) document.

This has been discussed a million times already, he has released the only birth certificate he can under Hawaii state law, and the only one he is required to by United States Law. People don't have access to his other records because, thanks to the 4th amendment to the Constitution, he is not under any obligation to release that information. Apparently the Constitution doesn't matter when you have a personal bone to pick, I guess.

That should about sum it up. Your "facts" are simply exaggerated assumptions, all based on the one document, which lists his birthplace as Honolulu, Hawaii. Care to comment on that bit?

I claimed no such thing. They just aren't an official record of a name change or citizenship... and they're meaningless in that regard.

It looks like Flicker removed the picture from their site, citing copyright infringement of TIME. The problem is, there are many, many anti-Bush time magazine covers on Flicker.

Why am I not surprised?

www.readwriteweb.com...

In a recent L.A. Times profile on Alkhateeb, it's reported that the photo generated over 20,000 pageviews during the time it was hosted on the photo-sharing website Flickr.com. However, as of last Friday, Flickr removed the photo from their site. Why? Alkhateeb says he received an email from the company stating it had to be taken down due to "copyright infringement concerns." (Apparently, TIME magazine wasn't too happy seeing their brand associated with this sort of political commentary.)

But isn't this sort of political commentary, political parody in fact, protected as a form of free speech? Noted photographer and blogger Thomas Hawk thinks it is, citing a precedent for fair use (Folsom v Marsh) which states "if you produce something that is transformative, and not derivative, then it's fair use." Although Hawk isn't a lawyer, he may be right on this one. Says Corynne McSherry, a senior staff attorney at the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), a nonprofit that defends digital rights, Alkhateeb has a strong fair use defense if he was ever sued. "You really want to think twice about going after a political commenter," she noted.

Apparently, this isn't the first time Flicker has censored people.

Yes, you certainly did. Here's your quote in regards to the school records which were released by the school -

He went by different names. He went by different citizenships.
'official' or not ... he went by them.
His murky background, combined with the lies he's been caught at, is why 'this POTUS' - answering your 'question'.

Wrong. They are all facts. And they have been proven.
Those facts answer the 'question' by BH .. 'why this POTUS' ...
Those reasons are 'why this POTUS' isn't trusted.
Those along with all the lies he's been caught at ....
Together they make people not trust him.

Ok, so if the school records are accurate, as you claim, then he must have been born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Right?

Because that's what they say.

So, essentially, you've proved that he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Am I understanding this correctly? Isn't his "murky" background then completely erroneous, as you have shown there is definitive proof he was born in Hawaii?

I mean, the school document states his name as 'Barry Soetoro'. (Granted he was 6 years old at the time but that's neither here nor there). It also states that he's an Indonesian Muslim. Well, there are no other records to back that up, but the form was filled out by his step-father so it must be true, right? Well, then it states his birthplace as Honolulu, Hawaii. So if its' true that he used another name, and its' true that he was registered as an Indonesian Muslim, then it must be true that he was born in Hawaii.

Am I missing something here?

Wimbly-

I'm not at all surprised that this man's work was taken down. It was gaining so much attention and controversy over the past few days, I believe it was inevitable. Do I agree with the decision? No.

The saddest part of this whole ordeal is that the artist didn't want any of this to happen. He didn't ask for people to rip off his work and put it all over town. He didn't ask for the media to get incredibly involved over what is essentially a silly photoshop, and he certainly didn't want soft-skinned pundits to accuse him of being a racist because of their inaccurate perceptions of his work.

A brilliant man once said,

An intellectual is a man who says a simple thing in a complicated way;

An artist is a man who says a complicated thing in a simple way.

-Charles Bukowski

Whenever art is censored, society as a whole suffers.

EDIT to give credit to Mr. Bukowski

Nope, just that your willing to accept lies to make a truth. What some people seem to trying to say is that , with so many lies why would you trust a person with the countries leadership. Not pointing out one lie but the whole mess of them. Then you come on saying they are all lies then say well then if its all true this one tidbit must be too.

Saddens me to see people like you and BH stand by the nonsense and arguments you make to prove a point. To me it looks like desperate attempts to convince yourselves or comfort yourselves for the bad decisions you made on this whole mess. Hell could be your just still blind and refuse to open your damn eyes to whats going on. I don't know. You can argue with what you consider the "crazy" on here all you want, but to most of us watching on the sideline can see your more insane than you know.

Not that it matters to this discussion - It is my belief that he was born in Hawaii but that there must be something on his vaulted birth certificate that he doesn't want shown otherwise he wouldn't be spending all this time and money to keep it hidden. that's common sense.

All these things put together make a murky background.
That is why people are questioning him.

Why are you so uptight about the answer to BH's 'question'?
It's an answer .... 'Why are people questioning THIS POTUS' ... well ... THIS is why. People aren't comfortable with it all. It's just an answer to a question. Right or wrong ... these are the reasons why people question a lawyer/politician who lies ...

Back to the topic: I'm not surprised that Flickr has censored the image. This is another case of Flickr being an total idiot when it comes to the very content it depends on.

Curious, now if you search "obama joker" on flickr you get tons of pictures. Many users are protesting the censorship by uploading it. I guess whoever send the takedown demand failed in their attempt to make this image go away from flickr. Shame that the original artist doesn't get the attention for it though.
Techcrunch has a very good article on the censorship.
